I used to think so but it's grown on me over the years. It resembles something you'd see in some ancient 1920's sci-fi films, where the characters are wearing wacky headdresses to signify they're meant to be aliens or whatever. Aelita Revolt of the Robots comes to mind, as does the weird shape of Futura's robot headpiece in Metropolis (that weird umbrella alcove thing surrounding her head). I do wonder what the decision to come to the weird head design of SHODAN was actually influenced by for the second game, is it some extremely time consuming traditional Japanese hairstyle to go with the kimono or something?

Pure psi is totally viable, there's a lot of good offensive and utility skills. You can just use one the autohack tools to hack an appropriate vending machine. The reason why it's called the "25th Anniversary Remaster" instead of "Enhanced Edition," like the first game, is because Night Dive are making a System Shock 2 remake.

It's been a while but if you're going to full on limit yourself to psi and wrench only maxing psi is obvious and at least some endurance is pretty good, maybe a couple of cheap points in agility for the movement speed. Strength isn't very useful since you'll travel very light and all the buffs give you crazy melee damage, but getting enough to wear the power armor is a possible option since you can recharge it as you please with a psi power. It must be kept in mind that loading up on the psi tiers and powers is going to eat loadsamodules so there's less for stats, but then again when you go full psi some of the op utility powers won't be useful at all.

For O/S upgrades, the increased hypo power one and replicator expert both boost your "ammo" economy through psi hypos and the one that lets you equip two modules is always great.

I think the remake actually delivered for how many things could've gone wrong during the reworks. Redoing this game to fit on a console seamlessly is also a feat. I prefer the original more, though, because it doesn't fit on it. The stand/crouch/prone/peek system is still impressive with how well it's done being released the same year as Doom 2. Just running around with an AK blasting shit without a care in the world is also great. If you can stand it, play the Enhanced Edition, but the remake is fine too.

I liked it, but I never played the original. My only real complaints is that progress signposting can require some intution to figure out, dealing with the suffocatingly small inventory space, and that by the end of the game when they turned up the difficulty I had to rely a lot on savescumming even though I was on the standard difficulty.
I really liked how all of the guns felt and I liked the enemies, but most fights were over in less than a minute which meant that a lot of them felt pretty underwhelming. I really liked the OST as well, it was a nice mix of atmospheric electronic bleepbloops and some distant wailing guitar that would ramp up during combat, but I still never got to hear much of the combat versions because of the formerly described issue.
Progressing through the levels was a headfuck until I got real comfortable but I liked that, it's been a while since I played a shooter where the stage was the main enemy. Some issues, I missed stuff I needed to progress a couple times (severed head mainly) and I would discover clues early enough to where when I would need to use them I forgot about them. Certain necessary things seemed like I shouldn't do them until getting an upgrade later (entering the reactor to flip a switch before getting an anti-rad upgrade) when the game wanted me to just raw dog it and burn through all of my heals and antitox to manage it. Elevator/door access being granted tied to accomplishing certain things wasn't entirely clear either.

Oh I know. I played it on pc years ago and I remember finding a way to blow up agent Navarro without fighting her and it wasn't a kill phrase, I remember Hong Kong too. Still I never finished it and I fully realize how great the game is only now.
I surmise it was because I played it in my twitchy shooter phase and got really frustrated about how deus ex isn't a shooter at all unless you grind your guns to master skill.
