And last but not least, Jace is trying to reach the "center" of the multiverse to restore things to how they were before the "Great Pruning" which is basically mending 2.0 to remove effect of phyresis in the multiverse.

There actually weren't that many oft-returning characters in Thunder Junction. It was mostly just Jace and Vraska. There were other returning characters beyond that, but those were ones that were much more recent or they were ones that haven't been used much, and they were still outnumbered by bespoke characters to the set.

You get 3 cards in magic there's a cost to activate them could need more setup. Draw 3 spell cards in yugioh and you can slap all their on your back row then and there.
