There is difference in way Americans and rest of western world views brands.
When I talk to Sony fans from my country and tell them I miss Japan Studio games, they are like "Yeah" or "I didn't play them but fair enough".
When I talk to American Snoy and say the same thing, I am accused of being a tendie.
Same with saying that I think Apple products are too pricey. People in my country say that either understand or says it's worth the price. Americans gets genuinely hurt, like I said something bad about their family and then gets angry, usually calling me a poorfag. Just see whole "Apple vs Android", it doesn't exist outside of USA or at least not in any of the countries I have talked with people in.
Here you have people buy same brand of butter or milk because they are used to it. In USA it's part of their identity and picking different brand is "going against morals".
Yes, people are "brand loyal", but for completely different reasons. USA likes brands, rest of the western world likes their products.
