I think some countries require some e-sign in which has had outages, so it makes sense why Finland would have proportionally higher signs. Licensing and subscriptions need an end date, and if you try to sell people a game at the same price with a limited license duration, you WILL lose money. Even reducing the price and moving to a subscription system would hurt badly; most likely the first company trying it would suffer and the rest would get scared. The present system sells games at a high price when the buyer may only play them for a few hours anyway, and that's better than any subscription model where the buyer pays much less and then cancels that subscription after those few hours of play.

EVEN without considering private servers literally every game can be played solo. PVP shooters can still keep vs bots modes. MMOs can be played as open world RPG campaigns. Even gachaslops have story modes that absolutely don't require a server running 24/7.
