It's super strong in Wilds, better than Perfect Rush spam in world and how it was in literally every other game. The shield became kinda useless as you got into the stronger monsters in the others, but perfect guard it great in Wilds and it has a slide iframe move as well. Sword 'n Shield was always a weapon that rewarded doing basically anything in the early game, but in Wilds? You're rewarded for playing like that no matter what. It's not just a "jack of all trades, master of none" anymore, it's basically better than Lance in every way when played by players of the same skill.

There's a lot more room for error in MH compared to souls.
The difference is that MH rewards you for being a fucking retard with the unga bunga greatswords, while souls punishes you for the same mentality because you didn't play patty-cake with the enemies to see if they're going to do a standard lunging attack with a surprise follow-up for thinking that was your window of opportunity, or if you're going to spend all your energy dodge rolling a 20 combo attack with a wind-up that lasts 40 days and 40 nights.
MH spends more time actually shoving your face in the monster's taint than souls spends time running back in to fight the boss again after dying for the n-teenth time.
Souls players are better than MH players on a technical knowledge scale, but MH will throw everything they have in to find the ripest and meatiest opportunities for damage with flagrant disregard for their own well-being if it means they get to score big hits.

worlds is peak monster hunter, it has a steady increase of difficulty, had constant interesting and fun content updates and culminated in a very, very satisfying final boss fight

even ignoring the terrible techincal issues of wilds, it's been streamlined so to hell that you can complete the entire game in a low rank gathering set. Since every hunt is like 5 minutes the monster roster size would need to be twice what it is but all they do with content updates is add 1 low tier monster like ever 4 months, it's pitiful. Mechanically i do enjoy how it feels to play though but the balance is just fucked

It's not dying. In Monster Hunter, you can cart 3 times and then you lose the quest. Monsters retain HP but can go heal by sleeping or whatever.
Carts are honestly the most forgiving mechanic of the series but it's there to make solo hunting easier.

Wilds is a terrible MH game and you're better off just mindlessly going for optimal damage combos constantly and facetanking damage any time it doesn't work than actually fighting the monster.
Either way, MH doesn't really have a speedrunning community in the same sense, since all the speed autists do time attack on individual monsters and that's just either RNG baiting for the best attack patterns or just chaining topples/traps/ailments for it to be staggerlocked the whole hunt.
Plus with souls, unless you're fighting an endgame boss at low soul level bosses usually die really fucking fast compared to a non-Wilds MH monster and always have the exact same arena/conditions so it's a lot easier to develop a strat that just murders a boss before it can even do anything and you just have to worry about the bosses you can't do that for

Not really. They're doing easy quest versions of the monsters and not max difficulty investigations. They should at least be doing something remotely interesting like AT Rey Dau. But that would require modding the game because Crapcom decided to make this game live service slop like World and have event quests rotate every couple of weeks. So the next best thing mis 8 star level 5 difficulty tempered Gore Magala, Mizutsune, Seregios, or Lagiacrus. But they would probably triple cart to them.
