I am willing to bet money its going to be a mash-up of Odyssey and Bananza, with Mario and DK teaming up after it starts off with them as rivals. They have to fight Rool with a new army that is revealed to be provided by Bowser and if Bananza is really a prequel, it will end with Mario traveling to the Mushroom Kingdom to stop Bowser who is also invading there.

Neither K. Rool or DK seem to react much about each other even though they're supposed to be archenemies. K. Rool seems tacked on for the sake of having an epic finale and to be honest it feels underbaked. I know it's story in a Nintendo game but it doesn't feel like DK had any personal stakes at all and he's just incidentally involved.

It's so odd how respectful to continuity they were for literally everything but the one single event/character that's been established since literally the first ever game in the entire Mario series. The same team that brought so much importance to the original arcade game and solidified its canon was the same team to butcher it beyond any feasible repair.

I mean the park is clearly picking the most modern standard version of the world. Mario picked 3D World over Odyssey. Bananza at least for now is too one off that I think they would have went with Returns anyways. In the Orlando park there's art of the Twilight Princess versions of the main trio. Zelda land is probably going to be based on Twilight Princess over Breath of the Wild.

I've never played a single Donkey Kong videogame in my entire life, but I've played and loved many Marios and I fucking ADORE Odyssey, should I give Bananza a chance? It looks fun, I'm not sure and I don't even know a single thing about the characters except the confusing Donkey-Cranky Kong lore that is apparently in shambles with Pauline being a child when nuDK already replaced his grandpa.

I only really played the NES version of arcade donkey kong and I fucking love this game, you can feel the spirit of odyssey within it so if you loved odyssey you should love this, I wouldn't worry about the story, it's very much gameplay focused and was made with newcomers to the series in mind so it's fine if you're unfamiliar with the characters

The game is a lot of fun. The framerate dips seem really fucking weird though.

Speaking of DK64, K. Rool here felt like how he was presented in DK64's intro, that level of seriousness and menace, except whereas he eventually turned clownish in DK64 as his plan unraveled that didn't really happen here. Probably because he didn't show up until right at the end.
To be honest, I was in the "K. Rool won't show up" camp before release because having K. Rool be this totally imposing figure who shows up in the last act as a shock reveal doesn't mesh with how goofy-evil he usually is as many have been saying. I still liked seeing him again but it did kinda create that dissonance people are talking about.
