It's kind of hard to say. In the extreme case Stamina is probably the best spark. The actual whale meta is like 4 Guts supports or something because the gains are spread out the most. You probably end up with 4 Guts 2 Wit or 4 Guts 2 Stam depending on the race length and position, with the other stat being taken care of by sparks.

Depends on the breed. Arabs and American Mustangs are tough as nails, and most of the Pony breeds live to 40 without trying.

Thoroughbreds (the breed that most race horses are, and all umas are) are glass cannons made for sprinting and one of the hottest of the hot-bloods, which means they're fucking crazy. They usually do terrible in cold weather to boot.
