I had 5 archean trees on an asteroid to make my perm colony, but I left with my ship for a quest and came back to the trees being deleted. Is that supposed to happen?

Honestly, how fragile are horses legs anyway? You always hear about how if they break a leg it's basically over for them and they should just be shot, but what does it realistically take for a horse to break its leg? The horses being tripped in these webms are probably okay.
