i wasted all my life on video games
>tfw turned 33 this month
>that random jolt of awareness of mortality
>tfw it sinks in once again that you WILL die and there is literally nothing you can do
It makes me feel so fucking depressed. I know eventually I'll forget about it and go back to living my life but at some point again that random jolt of electricity will hit me again and that panic will set in that I have finite amount of time on this planet. I really should get my shit together and call my ex and tell her how I feel instead of ignoring her texts....I know I probably won't though.
>>716294760Also I forgot to ask: any game for these feels? I've been playing through Dishonored but I've been finding it boring as shit.
>>716294760You mean that sort of hot feeling you get in your chest?
It happens to everyone sometimes I think
>>716294760I felt that a ton during 27/28. I found the feeling sticks when my life sucks (stressed from dead end job/depression).
31 and haven't felt it as bad since
>>716295008Nah it's more like a crazy head rush of light headedness. It's sorta like that feeling you get when you stand up too fast.
>>716295275Yeah I've had this feeling before...every couple of years that feeling comes flooding back.
>I found the feeling sticks when my life sucksYeah I totally get that. When I was working and in a relationship I didn't really get that feeling at all. Maybe it was because I was so distracted by bullshit in life. I just don't know anymore man.
>>716294760I used to cry myself to sleep when I was 10 because I realized Im gonna die someday.
Now I just fap when the feeling hits me.
>>716295459do you feel like your life sucks *now*? Do you have anything long term you're striving for, and more importantly, on the road to achieving? That may help.
My last job depressed the fuck out of me and took up all my time and energy. I couldn't pursue hobbies, and didn't have the passion nor energy to climb its ladder and that made every night filled with the feeling you described.
Sometimes, if I fell asleep before I got a panic attack about my own mortality, I would experience night terrors and wake up at like 4am with my body coursing(sp?) adrenaline
We are only allowed to play cracked games and Australian approved games lmao
back to hard drugs i guess
>>716295736does australia ban good games?
>>71629476032, felt like this when I was 20. Now I just don't care. Life is not THAT interesting. When I'll die, I'll die. Already seen most of it anyway. Everything is just a repeat. Life doesn't really have that much content when you think about it.
Should I start Bananza or Death Stranding 2 first
>>716295528The only time that feeling ever made me cry was when I was 10 too. I tried pretending to be dead. I cut everything off in the house. No TV. No lights. No anything. Just laid down in bed and closed my eyes and just tried to imagine being dead and it just made me cry. I don't think I thought about death again until I was in my mid 20s.
>>716295656Yeah I guess I can say so. I've been NEET for the past 4 months. I haven't even tried finding new work or anything. I can't really say I'm depressed but I just feel nothingness a lot. Just no motivation or purpose.
>>716296424I mean that's one way to look at it I suppose.
>>716292421 (OP)>tfw turn 30 this year>working at KFC
>tfw probably won't live to my 60s
>life is already over half over
it's a weird feeling.
>>716292421 (OP)34. playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 on Switch. when I get home I will play Tekken 8
>>716293090I know people in the tech industry who gets jolted whenever they hear a certain ringtone or text message sounds. They've become so fearful of receiving late night calls from their company cellphones that even quitting their previous position, it scarred them so deeply that they can't get rid of the stigma.
>>716294760Hey at least you survived the gommage
>>716293287Post your highest play time. I actually did what you claimed to have done.
>>716297048What's wrong with that? Do you think anyone who orders KFC cares how old the person making their food is? No, and that's why you should never feel bad.
>>716294760What's scarier, realizing you will die, or realizing that quantum immortality is real and you won't die?
>>716297048>30 and working fast foodI'm so so sorry anon.
>>716297140>tfw probably won't live to my 60sWhy? Are you really really fat? Smoker? Abuse drugs? Or just shit genetics and sickly?
>>716299548I don't even know what that means anon.
>>716292421 (OP)>currently playing Girls Frontline 2>the only reason I'm not also playing Blue Archive, ZZZ and Uma Musume is because the wagie life doesn't leave me with enough time to play more than one gachaHow do I make myself stop liking gachaslop so goddamn much?
It's not even a money issue because I've always been 100% F2P
>>716292421 (OP)>printing BI stuffnigga how about you share the powerbi link with me instead
>>716299884>How do I make myself stop liking gachaslop so goddamn much? You just said you're a wagie, and gacha is the perfect kind of game for you. If you don't want to play a multiplayer game, then gacha is how you game in short bursts. What else are you going to play? Are you going to play this:
>>716299705No, because everyone is a little bitch who doesn't want to get raped and killed, so they don't have many options.
>>716299884I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum it seems
I tried making myself like gachas because that way I'd have something to play on lunch break.
But I just can't bring myself to stick with it, they just bore me to tears
>>716299847I just read some posts about "quantum immortality" and the shit these dudes were talking about (mostly nightmares where they wake up screaming or some shit) is hilarious kek realistically though, I think death is more scary. Just for the fact that all I've ever known is my existence. Like I can't even simulate what death is like because all I've ever known is existing. It's literally impossible to me. And to me that's terrifying. I know people just say "well just imagine what you were doing before you born" but that's the thing I can't because I didn't fucking exist...that's the scary part. I can't imagine the ride actually ending but knowing that it will no matter what you do is horrifying. Whether you're a good person, a loving person, a piece of shit, whether you're a drug addict, a sex worker, a preacher, a doctor, it doesn't matter. On the flip side I wouldn't want to be immortal either, which I know that sounds stupid since I'm bitching about death. I guess I just wish we had more time. We always think there's going to be more time until there isn't. You'll have more time to do "X, Y, or Z", you'll have time to spend with your parents, or friends or family. You'll have more time to to read that book or play that game. Until you don't. If we all lived for at least 200-300 years I think I'd be okay with that. Like I feel like you could pretty much do everything you want to accomplish in 2-3 centuries worth of time.
>>716300238>If we all lived for at least 200-300 years I think I'd be okay with that. Why do you need 200-300 years of posting on 4chan? Can you even see yourself, or are you like everyone else on this board?
>>716300310>200-300 years of posting on 4chanI genuinely hope and pray to whatever is up in the sky that if we lived for 200-300 years, nobody would waste it doing nothing but posting on 4chan for 300 years. And the sad part is that even though I say that, I know there would definitely be people like that out there.
>>716300427You're on 4chan right now. Why are you better than anyone else who uses 4chan?
>>716295736...you're too dumb to pirate?
I'm nearly 33 and I've been stuck in the "prefer to be alone, yet I hate being lonely" loop since I was a teenager. Albeit I am far more numb to it now since I hit that mental breakdown in my mid-20s.
>>716293287>i wasted all my life on video gamesHow long? I'm 40 this year
>>716300670>I'm 40 this yearWhat's your highest play time in a video game? I've posted mine:
>>716299705Everyone says they played games all their life, but I have no idea what they mean. Do they mean they played some bing bing wahoo when they were a kid or some shit.
I want to get drunk. I don't have work tomorrow but don't know if I should
>>716292421 (OP)white shirt + pencil skirt + dark pantyhose + heels = perfection
>>716300736Well I quit WOW when I did /played one time around Cata/Mists and just on my MAIN character it was nearly 2 years of play time. That's when I quit WOW. Obviously I can't evidence it because I haven't played since then. But outside of that I have 2000+ hours in MHFU. I had 1000+ in MH3U, and in Dragons Dogma I probably have over 1000+ in total if I added up all the systems I own the game over. Then add a lifetime of playing games on every system since the NES/Amiga days.
>>716300736>Everyone says they played games all their life, but I have no idea what they mean.My first game was Virtua Fighter 2 when I was 3-years-old, it's one of my earliest conscious memories. I've been playing video games daily since then, to the point I don't think there's more than 50-100 days in my life where I haven't touched a PC or console, and most of that was being grounded as a kid.
>>716300908Thanks for not knowing what the word highest means. It's singular. I have 20k hours of Dota 2, and I played Warcraft 3 Dota too. Even I played WoW, so your WoW time isn't impressive.
Do you know Limewire? I downloaded Vanilla WoW from Limewire. I've been around.
>>716301029Why does it matter how long I played ONE game? and Limewire? That shit was miles after Napster etc. That's when there was tons of P2P programs like Bearshare etc.
>>716301148>Why does it matter how long I played ONE game?Because if someone can play one game all their life like I did, it would also mean they were here on 4chan during that time. I ask for highest time because it's like an oldfag test. I think I'm the only oldfag left. I came here from a Warcraft 3 forum.
>>716294760same except 34
Daily reminder that you're alive right now. This is it. Life is what you do.
Yesterday I went MIA from work and went swimming in a lake. The water was 20 degrees C. Nobody said anything because nobody cares. It was nice.
YOLO.
>>716301206Oh well I'm probably a mid-fag. I came around 2009/10 but I'm not really one who plays the same game for 10k hours. If I'm older than you I've definitely played more.
>>716301332>If I'm older than you I've definitely played more.Well, I'll believe you when you post a play time. If you can't, then what you have to say doesn't matter. I've posted my Dota 2 play time, and you have your lies.
>>716301448>Well, I'll believe you when you post a play time.Hard to do when I'm mainly a console gamer. But it's okay bro you win. Didn't know it was a contest.
>>716301029>I have 20k hours of Dota 2what the fuck.
>>716300467>You're on 4chan right now. Yes it's 4AM and I'm not in the mood to play anything, so I'm trying to have a meaningful discussion about life.
>Why are you better than anyone else who uses 4chan?Who said I was?
>>716301623>it's okay bro you winNo, I don't win. You don't understand at all. When I talk about myself, I'm looking for my people. Guess what? They don't exist. You guys can talk to each other now. Anything I say is just an attempt to get information from others, and I've learned enough.
don't know what to play
everything i want to play is early access or unreleased
>>716301726Do you not have a backlog? I haven't been playing much shit lately but I at least have been watching a ton of shows/movies that were on my backlog. I think by the end of the year, I will have watched almost all the TV series I have backlogged. My only issue is that I still have a ton of movies/anime I'll need to watch. As well as TV shows currently airing that will eventually need to be watched. The only good thing I can say is that I've been playing less online multiplayer bullshit this year and trying to focus on the backlog. I've finished 24 games so far this year, which doesn't even dent it but I guess it's better than nothing right.
>>716298623It's the Teams ringtone for me. Good thing I don't use any of that shit outside of work, though sometimes you hear it in modern shows.
Games I've played this year.
>FF7 Rebirth - Shit/forced myself through it
>Kingdom Come 2 - Got around halfway, never went back, but will still complete at some point
>LAD Pirate - Was decent, but very short
>Suikoden - This was a impulse purchase because I'm nostalgia fag, still playing through 2
>Expedition 33 - Probably my GOTY
>Death Stranding 2 - Enjoyed, but worse story than 1.
>>716297140a) you weren't really conscious for your first 5 years so that doesn't count
b) average life expectancy goes up every year and when it's our time to die it will be even higher than today
c) stress is the big killer and NEETs don't stress about anything
In conclusion, my life is totally just getting started and I'm NOT in denial
>>716300619>yet I hate being lonelyI don't get this part thankfully, but I do sometimes get the feeling I should be ashamed of being this happy being alone. But then I remember my parents' divorce and it goes away instantly.
>>716302235Assuming you played LAD8, is E33 better than that in terms of gameplay? I hope it's better in terms of story
>>716302603>But then I remember my parents' divorceHm weird. I do wonder if my parents divorce subconciously had a huge effect on my relationship thoughts too. Luckily I went to Uni and had a great 5 years of nightlife, one night stands etc, but then once I got a job and reached mid 20s I've basically been living on my own in limbo for 15+ years. I own my house, car etc and I work from home. Whilst I love my own time I barely socialise now outside of maybe seeing friends on a birthday night out once a year or something.
>>716302668Completely different games, Yakuza games always have more stuff to do. E33 is a story based turn based RPG, however it does have NG+ which I found is a nice touch.
>>716302845What do single people do in a house? I'm always confused by that. I once lived alone in a 3 room apartment and I didn't know what to do with 2 rooms. What do you do with an entire house
>>716302995Same, I have a whole third floor I don't use
30 and a complete loser whos never even kissed a girl
and im bored of video gaems
>>716302995>What do you do with an entire houseWhat's that even mean? 3-Bed house. One room is my office/PC room, so work and gaming if I'm playing on PC. Spare room with my cupboards/clothes and a drag out bed if anyone wants to chill over. Bathroom is bathroom. Kitchen is kitchen. Main bedroom is my bedroom. Living room is for console gaming/watching movies etc.
>>716302845It certainly had a huge impact on me, I think people underestimate not only how bad the divorce itself but also the broken family is. Every divorce is basically a form of child abuse unless it is to save the child from worse abuse.
>>716294760Iām more terrified of my parents dying
>>716302995Nothing. My bedroom is big enough to fit the bed, recliner, TV, and computer desk so the rest of my house is empty. I have no furniture whatsoever in any of the other rooms, I only use their closets to store things.
>>716301940>backlog drone who feels the need to play games just because they exist, regardless of qualityI wish I could have this mentality. You'd never run out of games
>>716302995Not that anon, my house isn't huge but my bottom floor/1st floor is living room and kitchen where I spend most of my time, my pc is in the living room with a bunch of display cabinets and bookshelves that hold a lot of figures, manga, LNs and games. 2nd floor is bathroom, my own bedroom with even more figures and a bedroom used as storage room. 3rd floor has my laundry room and a completely unused bedroom.
>>716303240im less afraid of them dying, more afraid of looking after them as I get old.
i'll have to look after them, alone
>>716303173The whole sleeping in a different room thing is a meme spread by real estate salesmen. And you can put a big screen right next to your PC. And you can have a foldable bed for guests. And you can remember that you are a man and don't need an entire room for storing clothes and accessories. You can still have a bathroom though. I'm torn on kitchen, having a kitchen in the same room is very convenient because you can always hear how your food is doing while you're at your PC. But the smells are invasive so it's a controversial issue.
>>716292421 (OP)Turned 36 this year. I am enjoying my third play through of elden ring. then I'm going to give Alan Wake 2 a spin.
Gotta a vacation coming up in August, gotta make it count!

>>716303603based. i have one in october in japan, where are you going?
>>716303206>Every divorce is basically a form of child abuseCompletely agreed. I cannot comprehend what kind of parents would get a divorce. You're prioritizing your own happiness over the happiness of your kids and potentially the other parent (if the divorce is mostly one-sided). How selfish can you be that you think you deserve happiness at the expense of so many other people?
>>716292421 (OP)32, only been playing live service kusoge, Shadowverse 2 and fucking around with AI chatbots on Chub because setting up a Python server for handling game logic in SillyTavern's a pain in the ass. Will probably do another Rimworld run when my favourite mods get updated.
>>716303206I've basically grown up watching nearly every couple, married or not split up. Parents, cousins, aunt/uncle etc divorced, even my friends who are still with their wives complain all the time, and then people still ask me "Why have you never got yourself a Girlfriend" etc. It's hilarious.

They were obviously staying together "for the kids" but we were much happier when everyone seperated.

>>716303576>The whole sleeping in a different room thing is a meme spread by real estate salesmenThere are actual psychological benefits to your bed being in a different, isolated room away from your TV or PC. Your brain is simple to condition, and the simple routine of walking into that solo bedroom is enough to tell your brain "time for sleep." A lot of modern sleep problems stem from people's beds being in close proximity to dopamine-rich entertainment on their phones or handheld gaming devices, so your brain starts associating bed with high stimulation. Casually masturbating in bed also fucks with your sleep pattern too.

Humans are arguably obligate carnivores too, because cats get the same diseases as humans when fed the same plant slop diet. So our modern plant based diet is afflicting us the same exact way it diseases other obligate carnivores. But that's not a hill I'm going to die on because humans can tolerate plant poisons a bit better than dogs and cats, but then again we tolerate almost all environmental poisons really fucking well. this year in video games from most invested to least
cs2 - the eternal game which quenches my thirst for combat & competition
dune awakening - 80 hours, really enjoyed it. had low expectations going in was just an impulse buy. glad I did.
kingdom come deliverance 2 - got past the wedding, stopped playing because of real life shit.. got a new pc since I think I may start over because I've lost touch with where I was at and my build sucked ass I was going for some stealth n style but I think ill just go for how the game was designed. 2h sword riposte.
My friendly neighborhood - a good short resident evil like experience. made me call my father. sometimes we need reminders that they too were once children with optimism and hope
titanfall 2 - holy reddit this is just not interesting at all and I love shooting games. why is it so hyped as a single player campaign? at a level with moving platforms and its just so boring. should I continue?

Single Cell organisms do it by replication. Bees & Ants do it by serving the hive. Animals do it by reproduction. Humans are a bit of a hybrid where reproduction is the answer for most people but given we have the ability to make great change that is more impact on humanity than passing on genes, i'd say it's to live life in a way that we think is meaningful.

>>716315696Good luck convincing anybody here of that though.
My dad's 65 and he was about to lose his car so I gave him my old car and bought myself new car and spent like 50k
I feel like I made a poor financial choice as I sperged on my dream car (it's literally just a new golf gti, i blame nsfmw) but I also want to help him and "do the right thing" as I love him and he's a good man
But I dont know really anymore how to feel anymore. I feel like I should feel more but I just feel cold. I think I'm getting old. Everything just gets more confusing as I age. Thing is, i dont mind working full-time, except that it needs to be structured, not this hospital lab bullshit. And no, doing 3 night shifts in a row, 12-and-a-half each on my legs, is not conductive to my health.
I honestly started missing my old job in archives. Sure, its 8-4 or 12-8, but atleast you are the master of your own work and you spend half of the time sitting, and half of the time walking around the facility. Or that other lab where it was more sitting, but you still spent like 1/3 of time walking around from lab to lab in the facility. >>716307149I failed uni twice and barely managed to grad after 15 fucking years of doing nothing but wanking, sleeping and playing vidya. It feels so fucking horrible going to outside world and meeting someone way younger who hold the same qualification that I do.
My dad had me print out all the classes I have to pass to get my cs degree and put it on the fridge so I can tick them off as I pass them. Spent the last four months going from algebra 1 to Calculus 1 so at least I'm too far to quit now. It's going to fill really good when I finally finish this damn class and then pass it on sophia learning so I can check off my first box. Intro to nutrition next is going to be so kino. Have to get a part time job to pay for tuition soon though desu.

>>716328524It was a messy situation half a lifetime ago. I had mental health issues, I was no longer in mandatory education, school eventually decided it couldn't support me anymore and expelled me. I felt betrayed and let down as I'd been a model student up to the whole going insane thing, so I held a grudge but honestly I wasn't in the right mental state to learn anything. Bros finding definite integrals as the limit of riemann sums and vice versa isn't too bad. I mean you just got a section of a curve that goes from a to b, you're dividing it into n rectangles as the limit of n approaching infinity so it's all there, the width of the rectangles being the difference of the two points divided by n and and the height of each rectangle just being the output of the function of the curve where the input is x times the width of each rectangle or something.
>>716324975is this some wgu shit?
brother, there is almost literally 0% chance you will get a job with an online degree in CS for the foreseeable future. even people with >5yoe dont get interviews right now lol

>>716331237Well the neat thing about cs is the overhead for new ventures is like $0 so maybe I'll just start selling my own software or computer service and ADD jobs! Or someone will see me trying really hard and will hire me to keep their computers doing the thing. Cmon there's got to be more cs jobs then people with cs degrees out there right? And I like computers.
>>716331845is that a sleight? im not saying dont go to college, im saying do not go to college for CS. i can almost promise you that you arent getting an entry level job in CS. IT might be just as bad but thats not my field. moreover, do not go to online schools which literally nobody values.
>>716332129there arent but if you have infinite free time, learn to make significant contributions to an open source project that people have heard of. its going to be an immense amount of work but you need to network. that is literally the only way someone is getting an entry level job these days.
and i mean you have to put in like literally 40 hrs a week for a couple years on end doing this sort of thing. its not easy. i am telling you right now you should not underestimate how fucked the market is and how hard the job actually is
>>716332129also everyone thinks theyre gonna come up with some idea. i mean go ahead but if you were someone that had bills and wasnt living with parents its such a bad time investment.
