I never understood people who say Black Mesa is better than the original. It cuts out chunks of the facility itself, the best part of the game, but then extends the worst part by a silly amount, Xen. It makes the Marines a chore to fight like you said, and even fucks up the Blast Pit tentacle monster making it hear you THROWING the grenades. This is Doom 1993 level stuff, what the fuck were they thinking?
It's nice seeing the facility with nicer graphics but I wasn't impressed.

The best indie 3D platformer ever made. Maybe one of the best 3D platformers period. Extremely experimental on a fundamentally mechanical level while absolutely committing to those mechanics and pushing them as far as they can - you just don't see a gameplay design approach like this, ever, it had a vision and pushed it and it's everything everyone wishes the indie industry was.

nah, I'll get burnt out and then end up putting it down and never finishing...hence why I had to repick up Like a Dragon at Chapter 9 because I got burnt out on it. I did the same shit with Hogwarts Legacy....no clue where I'm at on there but I think I'm like 85% done but just got burnt out. I try to rotate at least 3-5 games, usually different genres, so that I don't get burnt with a game. The only time I just stick to one game is if it really captivates me and then I'll just no-life it...I just did that recently with Persona 5 until I got to that stupid ass mouse shit. And before that, I kinda just binged Death Stranding 1 back in January and got hooked on that. But usually it just leads to me getting burnt out and dropping a game.

Just try shorter form games. They're going to start pumping out a lot more. I know by the end of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 I was getting burnt out on CRPGs for a while. I try to stay with:

-1 longer form game (right now Donkey Kong Bananaza)
-1 multi (usually Fortnite unless friends are playing some COD)
-1-2 shorter form games. (Peak, Cobalt Core, Returnal, Fantasy Life) These are easier to pick up and do a "run" and put down.

With all the responsibilities of family life and work these days it's tough to get long sessions in and they just don't appeal to me anymore.

It's very uneven quality from scene to scene, but it's alright. Episodes are just 30mins which makes it easier to stick with it, if it was 40+ minutes I would have dropped it.

It's still a good game but:
They cut sections of the game, only to add more to the most unpopular area of all
Xen is now too long, and they somehow made the Interloper chapter even worse
The Blast Pit monster is broken. It's meant to react to sounds so you can trick it with grenades, but it doesn't really work in BM
The Marines are now dumbasses who run at you, use no tactics and are too accurate with their very damaging MP5s
Everything is a little too "cinematic", like it's a playable version of what Hollywood would make of the game.
Again, I love it all the same, but it's not going to replace the original.

Finished my playthrough of Ape Escape after not having played it since I was a kid. I finally beat Spectre Land after all this time. I used to replay the game from the beginning each time since I never had a memory card.
Now emulating Klonoa: Door to Phantomile. Jesus Christ I love how this game looks and feels. I'm so glad I didn't play the remake.

Thanks, anon. Dog has been by my side most days. I feel bad for the dog since sometimes I have to keep him from licking the ruined side of my face when I come home from work. He's a big dog(my height when he stands in two legs) and gets all excited when I come back home from work. Cough meds only make me feel slightly better. If you put the time in, install the main mods, and playtest the mods that interest you, I promise it will be worth it. It probably took me 5-10 hours before I tweaked everything to my liking without leaving Cordon. After that I probably put 90 hours into it. If it wasn't in the double digits gigs I'd drop you my own game.

Bitter at the world since getting divorced. Its taken a lot of therapy to sort of get over it. Its been almost 3 months since the divorce and 2 months since I got a text that kind of ruined any chance of getting back together. I miss them a lot but things are finally starting to look good again. I've been able to go to work everyday. Depression hasn't been as bad lately.

Try a vegetable soup, very easy to make, very hard to fuck up. A lentil soup would be a good start.
Just fry some veggies (i.e. carrot, onion, celery) in olive oil at the bottom of the pot, then add some minced garlic, some salt, pepper, oregano, basil, stir it around for 30 sec to a minute until they start to smell nice, throw like 250g of washed lentils on top, add water until it covers everything with a finger to spare, put in a bay leaf and simmer it for like half an hour. Then add some chopped parsley and you're done. Don't forget to take the bay leaf out at the end.
Medium heat until you add the water, then high to bring it to a boil, then back to just under medium to simmer it.
You can omit the herbs but it won't be as good.

Super fucking stressed by my job because not only the deadlines are close but also I get pestered by some shit unrelated to work. Everyone else, my superiors included, does not seem to give any fucks though, so maybe I am overreacting.

Over the past few months I've been doing pelvic floor exercises and building up those muscles so I can learn to cum hands-free. I did a course called "Mindgasm" and had my first "dry" HFO last week. Favourite would be Sword Saint Isshin, just so satisfying to stay in the rhythm. Nah, read Hyperion twice and Fall of Hyperion once already.
I'm actually on Fall of Hyperion now. I only read Hyperion my first go because Fall was disrecommended (and the latter books more so) and then enjoyed it when I eventually read it, but now on my second read it's not as good. I think it was carried hard by the world building and the burning desire to know the answers to the mysteries of the first book, but with those already understood and cleared up it's a rather tedious read.

That being said, it's still a 7/10 for story, aesthetics, music, character design and demon fusion autism. Battle mechanics are a massive downgrade from press turn, even worse than 1 more, but still leagues ahead of every other jrpg. What really will determine whether you like it or not is if you can put up with some really generic dungeons for what I assume will be 80-100hrs. I can, so I'm having fun.

It's boomer shooter-esque, but with a twist: Enemies only move when you do. Much of the game is spent looking around planning which direction to move and what enemies to prioritize. They're smart, too; they'll aim ahead of you when you're strafing so you'll run into their bullets. Really fun. Especially when you make them shoot each other.

Thanks anons! I put too much yarn too close and shaved it down too far but I like how it was looking and it was fun.
