Haven't posted since March. I was working on a Conquest of Elysium-like prototype, but it sucked ass because I'm a shitty strategy designer
Instead of trashing it I kept iterating on the things I did like, and combined it with other prototypes I've made
So much has changed that it's now a virtual pet game with combat similar to minion builds in ARPGs lol. But it's a lot better and I have a firmer grasp on where I want to take it. I think I may actually release this one, eventually.

you're great at animating things but you are doing the same thing AAA has been doing since 7th gen, you're prioritizing animations over gameplay. vaulting over things, starting a wallrun, starting a climb up, all of these actions stop the character dead in its tracks and happen too slowly in general.

I recommend using a state machine for the enemies and taking designing what they have to do in each and how they move from one state to another. Once you have that, set up the navigation with a navmesh and a nav agent. Don't worry about attacks no other stuff until you got the navigation nailed.

It pretty much is, yeah. I am mainly working on mocap at the moment. Getting ready to make my first cutscene. NLA editor is done and mocap integration too. I am literally fixing and expanding on Rokoko's Unity plugin to accomodate my project. Also begun adding ARKIT blendshapes to the models.

I really dislike the implication of you using the ramp to get out of the water both times. you even got stuck a little the second time. the ramp should not be necessary at all. remove the ramp to force yourself to address this issue asap.

how could I fix this in Godot? the camera clips through the 3D models. I guess I should fade them but I'm not sure how. A shader? Or is there some setting in the mesh node for this?

Yeah reducing their opacity via a shader if they're too close to the camera would do the trick.
If the enemies have a collider you can utilize that.

raycast from the player transform (the transform the camera is following) to the camera. camera can at most be [distance of this raycast] away. don't bother with transparency shaders, that'll just let players peek out of the intended geometry. it just creates more issues.

I did a quick test with the material settings and while it works, it's weird because the inner side is being rendered, so there are instances where for example the back of the head of the goblin has become transparent, but not the face. I'll try to look into more manual solutions, like the shader some of you suggested. ty!

Set a raycast on the camera that points at the player
Make the raycast collidable with things you want to clip out
When the raycast is triggered, change the camera's "near" value to whatever you want, or you could always lerp-move the camera translation towards the player.
That's what I do and it works fine

no, this is wrong. I already gave the correct solution. you have to raycast the other direction so you hit the obstacle closest to the player, not the one closest to the camera. there can be more than one obstacle.
