Genuinely don't see how this game stacks up to FFX, Chrono Trigger, JRPG greats etc... Everyone and their grandma was saying this is the first great turn based JRPG style game in a decade or two, but man it's like a solid 8/10, maybe even a 7.5. It definitely feels like it was made by a small team with too big of a vision, most of the environments are just the first zone but colored different and all the textures are the same. Enemies are generic random things under the guise of having been painted, it's very repetitive. I also thought the Act 2 ending plot twist retroactively ruined the game since it made characters liek Sciel completely pointless and meh. In general, I think the party feels like generic WRPG slop and the story falls apart really fast.

I also think the balance is atrocious. The second half of the game became way easier with minimal side content/grinding, I killed the last boss in a single lightning dance and didn't even get to see their moves. I had to load an old save to see them and intentionally gimp myself.

Performance is better too, Neil performance was goated, Raphael voice actor nailed it, Shart > Maelle, i think Jen English fits a lot more in Shart shoes than in someone like Maelle. Its slow only when you dont know what you are doing, i will argue that its snappy for a tactical turnbased game, compare with with tactics ogre for example, its faster, just the fact that smaller units move together in one turn is a proof that it respects your time, also if you correctly use aoe effects you can finish many things quicker, the only really slow fight in bg3 is the last fight, the road to the brain.

E33 is not that fast either, despite having the persona x ff10 style of turn order and direct attacks with no movements, however the act 3 chain attack parryspam makes encounter just as slow, even worse is that if you decide you wanna flee and do something else you have to sit through the fight to be over, which is boring as well.

optimization was an issue in act 3 only and it got better with patches, game is massive so its expected when you try to run it on pc+console.

as for looting and walking its pretty much crpg standard, if you loot every junk items its on you, but reward and exploration wise, bg3 mops the floor with e33, at least you find legendary and epic gear that can compliment your build in nice ways, not just weapon upgrades that are useless cause the devs upgrade it for you for free anyway and some lumina points for pictos, like thats the bare minimum loot here.

I really wanted to like this game. But it just didn't click with me. The combat was aggressively boring.
And the characters are just so uninteresting. They are literally only there to try and drive the plot forward, but the plot itself is very convoluted for no reasons whatsoever. They specifically speak in vague terms just to avoid spoiling too much of the story too early. When just talking normally would have resolved the plot much quicker.

That and the whole "painters vs writers" subplot was the entire driving force between the inter-family drama. And that wasn't explained in the slightest. Clearly just blatant squeal bait.

In short, yes. It’s a solid game but if you didn’t like Remake that much it’s more difficult to recommend it depending on what you didn’t like about it.
Combat it’s better and more dynamic, the game gives you a lot of shit to do in the world but a lot of it gets repetitive after a while, since it’s treated it like a checklist with little to no player discovery involved. Good thing, you can skip the most of it. The most egregious thing is that there are some main story sections where you are required to play some mini games that are solid for the most part and a nice distraction at first but gets stale on a second play through since the game doesn’t let you skip them. The story feels like filler but it serves the purpose to build up character dynamics and backstories and the events of the final part of the trilogy. If you like the characters and world you’ll have a good time that is if you can handle animeisms and silly shit happening every now and then. The ending is divisive to say the least, even more than Remake. So take all that shit into account. It’s the best description about the game without getting to much into detail, so, hope it helps.

I finally started playing the game just a couple days ago because physical editions just came down in price and I heard it was good from genuine posts. and knowing me, a person with superior taste to you all, had to understand why this game was getting so much genuine praise. because you can tell when people are speaking from the heart. its a 10/10 and I swear this was originally 50 bucks wasnt it?

The developers have never held high-level positions at Ubisoft or have never made a game before. For their first project, they did quite well. Better than that game from the creators of Persona 5. What's shocking to me is that this game doesn't have a minimap or quest markers at every step, even though the CEO came from Ubisoft.

BG3 is still a buggy mess. The difficulty curve is laughable. Annoying the first few fights and the ridiculously easy. The marketized freedom of choice is not even an illusion, every single evil choice leads to strictly no reward.

Also it's like 3 times as long as E33 if you want to see the content (meaningless dialogues and easy boss fights)

There's like a handful of fights that actually have interesting mechanics in BG3, and they're way too easy since they're near the endgame.
