The issue I have with LiD after hitting 150 and just not wanting to keep going is that it turns into almost a browser game style thing where you either one shot or get one shotted, there's not really anything you can DO in terms of "strategy" because tengoku stuff is all haters (IE, real player ghosts) and everyone, at this point in the game's life, has maxed out shit that even the highest tier gear won't protect against.
It's a fun game, I think, personally. I really enjoyed up to floor 100~ and because I was in so deep I felt compelled to play up to and through 150, but I log on maybe once a month just to realize "Oh wait, wrong day to get materials I'd need for stockpile" or "oh, wrong forceman" or something else, and I log off. I don't even bother with base raids, they're pointless, on PC it's overloaded with hackers who will just blitz your stuff, on PS4 it's max fighters with RPGs and max heat gauge to start so you're just RPG tracked. You can get through it but it's like, why so much effort, for a couple thousand (maybe 100k tops) kc and splithium?

A lot of the cool concepts of LiD sorta fell apart once the game part finished up, and the post-game stuff is all novel, but really really frustratingly tedious to get through. Not hard, tedious. It's slow and repetitive and you can almost guarantee you don't die, but then it's just slow and repetitive and there's no risk.

The music is fucking fantastic though and I've gotten multiple t-shirts signed by multiple bands who had their song(s) in it.
deathverse was a bad idea, made poorly, with 0 balance. I was top 20 on PC when it shut down (as all the hackers had quit basically).
I have very low hopes for the sequel game. I just don't think it's going to pan out, I think it'll face the same issues, but if they're adding co-op, I fear it'll be even worse, with more weird enemy trap encampments we'll have to recognize/memorize just like in LiD.

I just would want to climb the fucking tower with whatever resources I get on my own. But there's no toggle, and of course because this is a live service game I can't play it offline either. If I could just remove the TDM I'd play Let It Die and at least try to beat the main story, but I can't. I didn't like the MGSV FOBs either but at least those weren't as tantamount for the primary gameplay loop. Let It Die expects you to split your time between climbing the tower and raiding others via the TDM so even if you want to treat it like a single player game you will be suffering from a constant resource drain until you finally choose to engage with the component.

It was really easy from day 1 to completely ignore the system until you needed to do something like upgrade banks or whatever.

I beat Let It Die without paypigging and I can hardly remember a second thing about it, I guess I'm going to get early-onset alzheimers or some shit. Vague memories of the shuriken boomerang fan thingies being really busted but I can't recall if they were only busted for raids or whatever.
I DO remember always 'drawing' a dick in the other guy's vault room on the map after clearing out his base, got pretty good at that. The drop kick was fun too if impractical.

The fuck it does. You die, then all the shit you had is gone unless you pay through the nose for salvage (only costs 20% for premium boys, though! or just use the premium currency, tee hee!). Salvage costs get more and more enormous and kill coin income does not increase to match, and to add insult to injury the weapons and armor you need to actually deal damage and not get fucking owned in one hit increase in price as you upgrade them to match the strength of those floors as well.

It's a perfectly enjoyable game for the first ~20 floors, then it becomes crystal clear that the game is designed first and foremost to sell you shit.

I played it when it was exclusive and did infact finish it. The gameplay is just not that fun, the concept is fantastic, the gameplay feels like something out of a game you use to find in the bargain bin. Its such a shame.

i like let it die a lot, i still play it every now and then, but i feel like difficulty is not the only thing that filters people. This game, requires A LOT of your time if you want progress. There might be other ways to advance floors other than upgrading your gear, but the way the game presents the leveling system is brutal. You lose way too much progress if you die on high level floors, and if you wanna recover what you lost, you'll need to either pay or spend a lot of time grinding. And the grinding is so specific that it becomes a bit unfun. There are specific days for specific drops, so you have to adjust yourself to the game's schedule instead of the other way around.

I discovered this game pretty damn late and have been playing it for about more than a year now. It was fun and I enjoyed it a lot.

However, being a legit player who didn't use any form of pay-2-win cheating, and grinded most of my Death Metals from events / TDM. I have now reached the end of my journey, as I spent a good chunk of my DMs on the Premium DM stew, only to get garbage and duplicates. I had about 100 DMs and it took fucking ages to earn those through grinding.

So I decided that this is as far as I'll go. I kinda needed a reason to uninstall the game to be honest, it was eating up way too much of my spare time.

It was fun while it lasted, but the grinding and extremely limited ways to earn DMs, and the chance of pulling 5-Star Decals from the KC stew is just too extreme really, and would just take god-knows-how-long if you intend to keep going without spending real money on the game.

It was a fun ride though, and a pretty cool game.

Yes, and it took dozens of hours before they added the store floors which didn't exist until months into release. Getting my Iron to purple tier I think it was took me hours upon hours of farming the lower floors. The only thing you realistically had to work with was upgrading the Iron and ignoring the rest of your equipment because armor took absurd amounts of time to upgrade and you needed four or five pieces on top of the weapon, and every weapon but the iron was pure trash. Actually gaining metal meant running the upwards of 6 floors on repeat, and you needed to be able to consistently beat garbage like JIN-DIE, COEN, or GOTO-9 with certainty.

We also had Fun Fungus so there was no reason to upgrade in the 31-40 range and you could rely on random enemy drops but then you get to COEN or U-10 and instantly die losing all of it so either it's a two hour grind to buy that character back or you deal with the loss.

You did not play this game early on, I guarantee it. Raiding was basically an insta-loss if you tried it, defending was borderline impossible, you constantly had your characters stolen, you lost all your gear if you lost with that character when raiding, and even if you won it was only like 20kish because everyone knew to log off when they had KC.

It's called traditional roguelike. You may not like turn based, but the concept is there for a fair share of game. There are also plenty of games from different genres that you can also play with self-imposed deathless/no-reload mode, and in some cases the game even offers that option.

I played the beta on PS4 and a couple of weeks into release. Once. I lost all my characters to the third boss iirc I quit. Liked it up to that point. I was one of the first players who got to silver and was invaded constantly.
Cool game but they could have made recovering bodies slightly less tedious.
