I really don't like how for a game to be fun you need a group of people you already know to play it constantly. Like if I want to play it but my friends say no then I'm just out of luck to play it.

I friggin' love peak. The little dudes are so cute and it actually encourages teamwork.
The quota trash collecting games like REPO feel a lot more random and chaotic, but PEAK has a great feeling of accessing your situation, collecting whatever equipment you can, and executing your plan of attack.

My favorite combo is to use a lollipop to climb up something that we clearly shouldn't have been able to and then putting down a rope to help someone else up. Very good feels of comradery. Which is I guess the end game of the Friendslop genre.

Friends that have a GF or wife will sometimes flake randomly, but overall they can still be pretty steady unless she's really nutzo, but the moment kids come into the equation it's completely over especially if that friend doesn't make a good amount of cash.

Multiplayer was traditionally a for fun mode tacked onto an already good game or alternatively a fun game that you could play alone and have fun with other people. People are realizing they need their social craving to be fulfilled, because with Covid and shit, people realize that going outside is actually whack and people can be scary niggers regardless of their skin color, but eventually they start yearning for human contact. Because of that, the friendslop genre keeps on rising.
So, what you have at the end is people who literally can't have fun by themselves, they NEED to play with others, even if it's once a week or so.

Fun once-in-a-while distraction with my group. You can get burned out playing too many of these too often, but as someone who typically mono-games the shit out of one game at a time, it's kinda refreshing to enjoy a game for an afternoon knowing you won't play it again

As everything that gets even remotely popular it got too oversaturated by low-effort garbage very fast (therefore earning its name). But still there are a couple of games, PEAK included, I'd love to play with my friends. Too bad I don't have any. Well, I do have actual real friends who play vidya, but we're too separated by time zones to play together, literally by up to 9 hours with some. And the ones who live somewhat closer are not interested in friendslop. One have some sort of tank-related autism and plays only War Thunder, and the other one plays mostly story-focused RPGs, which I would rather play alone.

It's fine. I just wish you faggots would stop adding the word slop to everything. My zoomer coworkers have finally started to add slop onto everything and spurt out based non stop. I'm so fucking tired. More on the point, they're fun games. Try having friends for once, and turn of invisible mode and hop in the vc. The sarcastic assholes that nobody wants to be around label it friend slop, as it has no battle pass for engagement, no seasonal story to grip you, no high end endgame content to chase, and no cosmetic money whore shop to gawk at. They're just fun video games. Simple as. I wish we had more games that were just GAMES and not trying to be a life fixture.

As a stream watcher, friendslop games are interesting to me because they serve as a social barometer for how a group will interact both with AND against each other for the purpose of creating content. It also shows in a quite naked format just how awkward some streamers are in social situations, and because of that you end up with this dynamic where the game is simultaneously a backdrop for a podcast-esque discussion while also exposing who has trouble balancing a conversation with competent gameplay. If you want to delve into the parasocial aspect, each collab permutation across each friendslop game lets you know more about a certain streamer, who they're able to be genuine around, how they riff off of jokes, when they cooperate, when they try to shitpost and so on. Explaining this to people without coming across autistic is hard though, because to most Twitch normies there is no appeal to analyzing socialization as it occurs and most of the time they're just waiting for someone to say something fucked up so they can spam emotes. I don't really know how to end this post so I'll just say that a vtuber I occasionally watch uses Resident Evil 5 as an "initiation" when she wants to collab with another streamer and I think that's cool. It gives the game this larger than life aura, like it's no longer just some fun action co-op experience and is now a chance to see how everyone who plays it for the first time subtly shifts the balance against the person who is already familiar with everything it has to offer. Hmm... I feel like I'm making an allegory for the comedian podcast circuit right now, actually.

I end up having to watch them vicariously through vtubers. Solo gaming is just easier to coordinate with my work schedule. Most are pretty cheaply made and cheaply priced indie games that come out quickly. Some have a unique gimmick gameplay wise like Chained Together. It's everything /v/ says they want in games. They are just terrible to play with randoms since they expect you to be in discord.
