awakening's scaling paralogues filtered me. No, not really.
Units are recorded in batches. They bring in the JP VA to do multiple units at once, even before the book starts OR ends. So Mythic Eikthyrnir and both his Winter and Summer alts were all made at once. This is also evidenced by how his sister Heidrun got that many alts, and shared two of those banners with him. This is just IS offloading the cargo they made two years ago (before Book 8). And they're obligated to make the Brave, since fans voted (but won't pay).
If "generating money" got you units, there would have been a Gullveig or two in the last year, since every banner of her sold gangbusters. Even last year, Gullveig's last banner and Eikthyrnir's first banner were a month apart, and Gullveig's sold Top 3 for the book while Eik was near the bottom.
Same thing with Fodlan units. Even fodderless stuff like Rearmed Marianne sold truckloads more than most Engage units last year, but we keep getting Engage alts while Marianne only got one thing in like five years.

A few years ago, I did an Engage ironman where I used the DLC, but no base game emblems, but I kind of "cheated" on that by inheriting skills from the base game emblems. I want to try that run again, but cleaner by not using the OG emblems for anything at all. Every other form of degeneracy will be on the table though.

Randomized Fates is I think one of the better randomized FE experiences, there's just so much you can do it really feels like you can fully take advantage of everything being different.
That said it is quite tedious having to do branch of fate every time, especially if you get a shitty Jakob/Felicia and Gunter. I've also noticed that units that join on the preps screen tend to have their base skills instead of randomized ones, which is a bit of a shame.

Severa's also an ironic character, as she is the character who believes the strongest that her mother is naturally perfect and doesn't need effort to achieve the things she does.
