This is what I don't get.
Someone explained it the other day like this - Since they don't pertain to any one game, they are like a glorified draw thread. Problem is, even draw threads used to get persecuted. The DallE general does not. It's not board culture. What would change if the DallE general was moved to /vg/? Do they ahve a DallE general? Then what would be the difference, the posters? Is a DallE general not allowed on /vg/ but allowed on /v/? I don't get it. Why make the exception for this one thing? Not even drawfags get that much leeway, and that back and forth has been going on for years.
The rules are also intentionally vague about what a reoccuring thread even means and where do you draw the line when people talk too much about a video game that you tell them to go and make a general? What's the time limit, a week? a month? How many threads does it take? If it's fast moving, is that bad or good? Because being fast moving seems to be a problem as it draws more attention, yet the slower threads go under the radar.
You can even take the example of the "Claude Plays Pokemon" threads, which have actually generated a tons of OC and are pretty neat to have around. What started as an event has been a reoccuring challenge as each new update of Claude means a new run of Gen 1 pokemon, with new mons, which warrants new art, and faster play times generally because it gets smarter with each iteration. Now this has been reoccuring for about six months straight, on and off. When it happens, the discussions continue for weeks.
So is discussion only allowed in small bursts like that? It's barely been a month that this game has been out. Now to be fair Claude plays had to be cheeky in how they frame their threads, to once again avoid being needlessly deleted. What are we making room for? Coom threads?
