And I'm all for it. Fallout has been dead for decades. New Vegas was good, but it was only good as a result of who and what (existing work on Van Buren) was involved. We're never going to get another good Fallout game again unless Microsoft is so sick of Bethesda's incompetence that they allow inXile to make a CRPG Fallout game. I'm happy for the people who are going to enjoy this shitshow, whether they genuinely like it or they're just along for the ride like me.

I didn't really like the show purely as a show, and the setting of season 1 was seriously wasted. But hopefully Goggins will show up, say something cool, and then inexplicably kill a dozen people at least three more times in this season.

I wish it was an episodic show with a Vault Dweller wandering into a new settlement and story each week. The first season of this was decently entertaining -- better than Rings of Power or House of the Dragon -- but it became messy and illogical at certain key junctures, a problem affecting many modern shows. I think the reason is that it's actually difficult to pull off a fully serialised season and have that be coherent. You rarely see it happen.

Bethesda had a blank slate with the East Coast. It's "their coast" in Fallout, they could have done whatever dumbfuck story they wanted to over there without it effecting anything but instead they decided on the West coast, and for what? Practically everything. Shady Sans should be farther north, not in LA ruins. Boneyard should be in LA ruins. No mention of Master, Unity, Super Mutants. Ghouls are really different creature now (this is retcon of F3 and NV too). No mention of Followers of Apocalypse or other minor faction from this area. NCR is practically non existent even if in canon entire area was NCR, no matter what kind of collapse they made up for it, it would never explain why there is no sing of it in most places. That's pretty much what Tim Cain said in one of his videos, during the development of Fallout 2 him and several designers came to a conclusion that Vaults don't make whole lotta sense, and, at least while Tim Cain was still in the project, he was working on it with the space exploration in mind, which I think Enclave's writing mostly retained.

The capital state of Shady was seemingly reduced back to a wasteland but not other places. San Francisco alive, New Reno alive, Redding, other NCR northern territories. Freeside is still popping and there’s NCR there too. NCR remnants near the capital are a militia that poses as raiders to avoid the Brotherhood who have moved into the area.

They never mention Junktown, Dayglow or other places because they wanted to focus on regional conflicts. High chance they’ll explain what actually happened to the formal NCR in season 2 or 3.

Diamond City like New Vegas is the first destination on your journey with several characters directing you towards it and later it will become the central city from which you will depart to other places.

They both personally slight you at the start of the game, giving you a clear goal to work for and a clear path to work your way along that coincidentally happen right next to where you'll probably first meet faction representatives. After getting a climactic encounter with them, you're intended to actually start interacting with factions. Fallout 4 drags you on a little longer with the Memory Pods, Virgil, and the Courser, but the goal is to end your involvement with the revenge plot by opening you up to an open factional plot.

The NCR capital was nuked, off-screen, in a location where it wasn't, by a rogue actor whom perhaps one person in the NCR even knew existed, as a result of a petty, personal squabble which had nothing to do with any of the issues the NCR was stated to be facing in New Vegas. The entire NCR then decided to simultaneously collapse and erase any evidence of its existence outside of the ruins of Shady Sands in Los Angeles (where it wasn't).

Fallout does have bad character building design though. Fallout 1 has one build - you max agility, dump Charisma, and go for the eyes. I'm on the same boat as the other anons, Fallout has already been so throughly loreraped by Bethesda in 4 and specially 76, that whatever the show does doesn't really matter.
My real issue is that the show isn't even good. You have Walton Goggins giving a great performance, Purnell an okay one and the nog can't really act.
The show at least has some decent production values. The Witcher show looked like it was filmed for 300 bucks.

If you subscribe to the idea that Lucy, Ghoul, and Maximus represent 3 types of players it makes sense. Lucy is the retarded noob who slowly realizes how shitty and unforgiving the wastes are.
