You now have 3 expansions to make a really compelling story to finish your game on after the 7th was completely fumbled. How are you going to pull off a really interesting story in such a short span of time? Maybe if you end up reneging on trying to abandon past plot lines but even then you're not left with much except "What's at the bottom of silvertear, who is Azem, black auracite/Ultima" for what people have any investment in. Yeah it sucks, but that's why it feels good when you have a competent team that can do it right. Like, does anyone care when you all get buffs properly aligned anymore now that everything lines up automatically? It doesn't really feel special to me at all. I haven't looked at the pop-up numbers in years. It spills into game design too. Like back in ARR-SB there was more leeway on boss health because they didn't design everything with the expectation that you'd be aligning everything and getting full dps stance uptime and all that, so if you managed to get all that set up properly you significantly changed the fight (especially in ARR and HW fights where phases were HP gated rather than on a strict timeline). Now it's more like the "skilled" way to play is more like the expected way and you're not really getting a reward for doing it right. I just like feeling like I successfully pulled off something cool or noteworthy.

The hotfix was just for entry, not the actual content itself. And yes, the entry was fucking retarded. Trying to get a 48-man premade into a 72-man capped instance was unbelievably cancer and was a problem that should have been caught in testing. One of many problems with Occult Crescent. But Forked Tower itself is good.

Next year when we get North Horn and all the power upgrades and new jobs, people are going to blow through Forked Tower and the shitters will forget it was ever hated. They whined about Baldesion Arsenal too. Even the entry requirements will be good in the long run because it ensures autistic discord troons keep it alive, just like BA. The CLL/Dalriada set up is convenient in the short term, but it's not sustainable in the long term.
