Using account ids is the thing that got playerscope taken down. Mare dev was using it as well for 'moderation'. Mare dev was getting enough money from mare with patreon etc. that they bragged about buying a house with mare money. Few weeks later they get the cease and desist. The retard linked his real name to stuff on his github.

The pedos made their own mare called Loporitt sync and that's been around for a while. It doesn't use account ids or discord shit.

People are flocking to that now. However it's hard to support that many people that quickly. Mare was using something like 1.8 pb. Hosting that isn't cheap.

Mare dev and friends are seething about people going to a competitor now. Dalamud the launcher everyone uses for mods is now introducing ways to block plugins they 'ban'. This is in a effort to stop people from using lopporit.

I sincerely doubt Goat and the rest would even bother trying. If you quickly take a look at the mechanism Dalamud checks for banned plugins it is a very simple test on the assembly name and version and is downloaded from the DalamudAssets repo. The banned plugin could simply just randomly generate an assembly name or otherwise just change the name of the plugin regularly and the Dalamud team would need to keep up with that to police them which is a gigantic chore. You can also just easily make the assets point to another file or similar shit that removes the incriminated plugins from the list. In the end it would be an impossible cat and mouse game that the Dalamud devs would lose. It also goes against the principles of not policing custom repos due to the manpower needed and their thoughts on freedom of choice. The only place they do police are the official repo where Mare and Penumbra wasn't allowed in the first place so that doesn't matter.

The good news is it's possible to host your own mare. Plenty of people mirrored the code before it was removed, such as https://github.com/MareSynchronos (not mine).
For the server you'll need to know how to use Docker. There are a few services e.g. Redis, Auth, the discord bot, and you'll need NGINX too. The client plugin is banned from running in Dalamud but if you just rename the assembly you can get around that.

Of course this is too technical for most people so perhaps in a few weeks someone will package it up nicely with a freshly renamed plugin and a server.bat or server.exe. We might find ourselves in a world of decentralized private mare instances for every community/FC.

This is just to ban any version of "MareSynchronos" by wildcard. The ban mechanism was already in place and being used to block execution of deprecated plugins or incompatible old versions of things that could crash your game. It is controlling of the Dalamud devs to do this but it's quite understandable given that they're one legal letter away from having the whole project collapse and they've always tried to maintain distance between their approved plugins and 3rd-party cheats/risky stuff. I know this all too well. Friend wanted me to make a modification of some other mod and that mod was fucking 40+MB while most mods were sub 10MB. Worst part were the textures having so much much blank space yet it was a 4k x 4k texture.
