However, the point of the game is to play those same four minigames over and over to experience the story with each character and set up a little clubroom to see their interactions. You don't play it for the minigames. The minigames are an excuse to see more of your favorite horse girls. End Closer Golshi needs 1200 STAM + 400 GUTS to barely make it to the finish line without any Gold Skills and this is assuming no debuffers. Yeah, you can run it through the umalator. With 1050 stam on a 3200m course and two of the best gold recovery skills, an end closer (who requires the least amount of stamina) gasses before the finish line and has a serious dip in speed because of it.

This is why they suggest 1200 stamina with two golds, or 1050 with three golds. Even without debuffers, 1200 and zero golds isn't enough to make it to the finish line. That's how brutal long races are. In careers they give you a stamina buff so you don't notice it. But in team trials/CMs, a real long race is so demanding on stamina. Those unprepared will get utterly destroyed

I recently did her campaign story, and yeah it's pretty cute.
Basically, Chiyono is a goody two-shoes who doesn't give up on her dreams to be like a derby uma like Maruzensky (who is depressed and retired herself from the racing world in this story). She also motivates her friend/roommate Mejiro Ardan, who is afflicted with a frail body and "glass legs", to not give up either. Both characters return the favor when Chiyono is having a crisis identity in the second half of her story, over learning the fact that all athletes inevitably suffer this slope where their abilities degrade after reaching the peak. She's decently smart too, keeping a lot of notes in her memo.

Also, she tends to look like a dog rather than a horse.

Scratch that, I had it on pace-chaser for that simulation. An end closer actually does barely make it across the finish line with only 1050 stam and two golds, but that's assuming you don't get hit with any debuffs. That stark difference between stamina consumption partially shows why end-closers are so strong on this one. People can lean more into speed and get the busted acceleration skill (end closer only), while pace chasers and front runners will have to lean heavier on stamina and recovery. Late chargers are just kind of there, but a well trained one with the right amount of stamina has a chance I think, still weaker than end closer right now though.

No, you'd think that. The genius developers made all umas have max view by default so vision skills do literally nothing unless you're hit by a vision debuff first. Skills that buff sideways movement are what helps switch lanes and avoid boxes but nothing helps if your uma is literally surrounded.

On paper it's easy to say

However...a third gold recovery is tricky. Swinging Maestro we know how to get easy by borrowing creek or running your own. The second gold is going to come from your character's innate gold recovery skill, think Oguri with Gourmand or this time around, Golshi's level 5 potential skill Go-Home Specialist. So that's two gold recoveries. 1200 stamina and two gold recoveries will have you covered, so you can stop there if you maxed out stamina. But say you want to lean less into stamina so you can put more in speed to give you that edge over others? You need a third gold recovery which is either going to be Breath of Fresh Air or Cooldown, which usually aren't that great but due to the layout of straightaways on this map, they're actually good. Vodka guarantees BoFA I believe, and you can get it from a random event. You can grab cooldown from the McQueen SSR freebie. You have to prioritize stamina before you can lean into speed, but hypothetically if you want the edge...you can go the three gold recoveries route and try and max out speed as much as possible. It's riskier too because if one of your abilities doesn't proc, you're more screwed than the guy who maxed out stamina. Maxing out stamina with two golds is safer. Depends on your character's proficiencies as well. If your character has 20% stamina gain then maybe it will be easier to max out.

And remember, pace chasers require way more stamina than end closers and are going to have worse acceleration skills in this match. End closers being the least stamina dependent and the fastest...well it's kind of a no-brainer isnt it. The easiest is to make Golshi, try and get speed and stamina as high as it will go. Unlocking her potential 5 is a great idea imo. The acceleration skill is straightaway spurt, Taishin's unique is a stronger version so breed it in if you can
