Am I right in assuming that Spirit is a trap and that you should build gun and melee damage for the insane scaling on his Skill 1 and the damage amp on his Skill 3? Should I actually be using heavy melee at all or just light melee to keep my uptime on smashed while I build gun and use my Skill 1 as my heavy melee?

Most builds are decent on Billy. Spirit isn't a trap because spirit bullets and spirit strike both help him significantly by applying to his other damage sources (1 and 3). Just build a tanky hybrid with lots of lifesteal from all sources. Don't use his heavy melee unless you really have to, it can be parried and his 1 with max charges upgraded should have near universal uptime and doesn't need as much charging.

They ruined everything. Now everything feels like shit and weak. Game is reduced to moba team fight garbage now. No strategy, no skill expression, no smart item usage. Everyone and every item is equally shitty and only team fights matter now.

Phantom Strike is a good alternative to stamina if you choose since it adds more damage, but it's more expensive. Get Knockdown if there's a Vindicta/Talon you want to kill, Curse if it's a Pocket
Other than that just keep pushing, keep brooling, and stay on their side of the map harassing them as much as you can. The hero's so absurdly fucking strong right now it's not funny, and I'm 90% certain the real culprit is that dispel just cucking all anti-healing from being put on you

When I last played (over a year ago), there was a big list of playable, but early development heroes you could try in the sandbox with console commands. Have they added any new ones? It seems like the bulk have been added to the game, but I know there were a handful still in testing and I'd assume in a year they added a few other in progress heroes.

Strong fast AoE clear lets you steal your teams jungle and farm their lanes. Roam at hyperfast speeds, and almost never die.

So you just spend the whole game playing PvE and avoiding team fights till you're hyper farmed. Wait for your whole team to get wiped, then wipe out the enemy team because you're on a smurf account where they haven't figured out how to last hit or farm up or buy the proper builds to handle you.

The thing about the FGC is that not only they are well-trained in getting fucked over compared to shooter fans, the FGC has a history of fucking over future attempts to fix the game. See stuff like how 3rd Strike Online Edition was supposed to be a new balance patch, but the top-tier negros there whined about losing their top tiers or a Sean that was possibly good. But even ignoring that, fighting games just don't cocktease people. A fighting game that is done is DONE, you know the devs have moved on to the next game. And while that next game could be very different from the last one, it still have all the things you would want or expect from such. The next Mortal Kombat is not going to be a puzzle game (though it might be better as such...). This doesn't apply to Valve. There's nothing about Deadlock that would apply to Team Fortress fans or Counter Strike fans or even DOTA fans. Valve's insistent in making games they want first means that there is no security in their fanbases. You never know if they will respect your investment in their franchises. So you have to take anything you can get, because their next project they spend the next 10 years on could be literally ANYTHING.

And FFS, they couldn't even do proper Maintenance Mode properly. It took genuinely threatening their bottom line to clear up the YEARS LONG bot problem despite having seasonal events. They don't even playtest the maps they put in these seasonal events either, hence giving everyone Wutville every year. So you can't even be secure that they are doing the bare minimum in keeping the game alive.

You can make the developer argument against having both a Casual and Quickplay option next to each other. It is one of those UX questions that most people likely wouldn't get at first blush. Compared to Dota how much downtime does this game have? It is hero dependent, early items are so you can survive laning, middle items are for when team fights are starting and end game is when you want shit to end.

There are only a handful of "counter" items that you will need, most of your items should synergize with your core kit first and foremost and give you opportunity to survive and push off of team fights. That or farming if you are a hero that relies on late game items. But a good rule of thumb is

>if they have a lot of tanky heroes: Anything that is anti-healing (Siphon bullets is great for late game).

Don't leave your lane until either your or their first tower is dead, this takes about 8 to 10 minutes and will speed up once the other lanes have acheived possibly before you

For items use the build browser, look in public and take one that is labled as "good for begginers"
You can even queue them for autobuying when you move into range of a shop

If you're getting your ass truly womped in lane, after the initial laning phase you can find creeps in buildings and machines and boxes for soul farm instead

The most important thing is to avoid dying, dying gives the enemy extra souls and is called "feeding"

Kills are important, but translating those kills into a push which hits buildings or takes mid is more important
Look up a good build guide for roughly the role you want to do, that will ease the process of buying items for you if you don't want to spend time looking through the shop at first
