I really want to love this game but it feels like it's been balanced for an 80 hour playthrough, which I'm not interested in. The tool shard system is also stupid, downed bosses dealing 2x contact damage is stupid. Silk spells sharing the same resource as healing is weird when healing takes 80-100% of the spool because it makes spells seem like a trap, 50% of rosaries and shards just jumping away into a spike pit is retarded because it means you're basically forced to fill your yellow charm slots with basic game functionalities (compass for 1st playthrough, bead magnet so they don't all fall into a spike pit) leaving no room for actual yellow charms.

A lot of this stuff is just weirdly designed for no valid reason I can think of.

For the life of me, i don't understand why people are saying that Silksong is a hard game. It's challenging but not hard. The only boss i had problems with was Widow, and killed her within 5 tries.

I think I found a back door into Act 2 which is neat. I checked my cheevos and I got to the citadel via a boss (Phantom) with like 4% achievement rate, versus 15% for the clockwork fuckers and 21% for the last judge, which I haven't even seen

I think it's clear that Act 2 was the "meat" of the game as originally envisioned by Team Cherry, while Act 1 was the stuff they kept adding over the years. You can tell because the plot from the intro basically freezes in Act 1 until you reach the Citadel, at which point it hurriedly continues.

Phantom, killed her just now. One of the few times in this playthrough where exploring felt worthwhile considering the runaround starting from Sinner's Road. Seething in the Mist and leading up to Exhaust Organ is my highlight of the game so far, probably the only one but we'll see.

That's wrong. You don't need to go right after the first flying fucker and aggro the second + the shield guy.
Once you're on the platform before the first pogo on the bells, go left instead. You can hover then dash into the wall and totally skip that flying fuck and the judge which is way easier.
Also, on the second bell pogo (with the third and last flying fuck) don't pogo at all. Jump to your max height then glide. The aggro on the flying fuck will only kick in after you've floated past so you won't get contact damage, then right at the end dash forward and cling to the wall. It's slower but it's also safer.

Favorite boss might be phantom. I just fought her today and it was super fun. LOVED the picture perfect ending, and the parry skill might be my favorite of the bunch. I also really liked the last judge, who I also beat today (twice. I got fucking trolled by her explosion at the end. I wasn't paying attention). I cant think of a single boss I haven't enjoyed, even the ones that lean on a little bullshit. I think the conefags were the easiest by far, but I only killed one, I assume there will be another fight with him and he's gonna be ultrapeeved. I also want to have sex with Lace, not sure if that counts.

Did I break the game or something? I went through the grand gate backwards and got the event to play the needolin to open the gate after talking to the guy, but no matter how much I play or how much these retards sing nothing ever happens

If you actually want to engage with the Tool system at all, you need shards, which means grinding because there is absolutely no system in place at all to give you free shards for resting and thus there is no incentive to use tools in any experimental capacity at any point for any reason.

Basically the game falls apart in the second half where the Rosary economy is immediately ruined because you go from only going on what you get naturally in Act 1, to then being able to farm hundreds in barely any time at all from enemies as soon as you get to the City.
Farming is a cringe way to play but when it's this plentiful and you can solve all your Rosary problems in about 10 minutes, why wouldn't you just do that?
Ironically, you would only actually farm Rosary to buy Shard bundles.

I think Bilewater's by far the worst when it comes to runbacks (it's funny seeing people complain about Last Judge when it's nowhere NEAR as bad), finding the secret bench just cuts the runback time to 1 minute instead of like 3 minutes

it's by far the worst one but it's definitely not the last time they pull it, long runbacks seem to be a weird design philosophy the devs refuse to move away from despite nobody liking it. Fuck, even Fromsoft, the ACTUAL souls-slop dudes, cut out runbacks with Elden Ring and was met with universal praise. I feel like some of the design decisions TC made are because they legitimately want to piss of their players, or because they're doing a social experiment to see how much people will take up their ass and still praise it anyways, because "dude it's silksong!!! it's already so good!" There's legit ZERO valid or fun reasons behind stuff like environmental hazards or even staggered bosses doing 2 masks of damage. It just feels like someone installed a "double damage" mod for HK since you still start out with 5 masks and they're slow to upgrade.

I enjoy the game (99% completion rate so just about done) but GOD I hate how half of my playtime just felt like a fucking chore between runbacks and grinding for rosaries/shards.

Made it to the clock area and this game is frustrating me way more than I expected. I really wish you could swap between weapon types because each one feels like I'm gimped at something rather than feeling like I excel at something. I hate the starter one because the diagonal pogo is too awkward for me, the reaper has nice pogo and range but it's really fucking slow which is also making it harder to pogo on the fast moving cogs, and the wanderer one is nice and fast but the range is such shit that I have a really hard time with flying monsters since they're programmed to always stay far out of range.

Add that to the other things people here have already mentioned and the game feels like one step forward, two steps back. I don't want to mod it but at this rate I might just uninstall because I get too mad playing this. Anyone have any tips?

tl;dr do endings whenever you can, nothing seems to permalock you out of anything besides MAYBE map completion which I don't think is necessary for 100%. I have 99% complete and I think I know what the last 1% is (either finishing the true ending or FUCKING MUSHROOM MAN AHHHHH, but I found a "100% full map" that has spots I still cannot access despite basically having everything and being maxed out - I suspect it's because I didn't find these rooms in Acts 1-2 and Act 3 changes the map slightly, more in certain areas, so I mighta fucked myself there but so far none of these rooms seem to have had anything actually important.

The snail shaman and Hornet discuss the fact it's in her blood to just become queen dominatrix of everything to begin with and you have to actively fight against that. One interpretation can be that she beats Silk and then just repeats the cycle but so much of the game goes "they're rounding up every half blood weaver they can to feed into the machine" so you can also just go you merge with Silk at the end and in the most literal sense repeat the cycle. I've played up to the Slab now (so around ten areas completed) and still nothing compares to Hunter's March even remotely which is like the third area of the game.
