Which boss filtered you the hardest?

Anyone else loving this game that hated Hollow Knight?

It cannot be overstated just how much better Silksong's level/map design is.

This combined with the much higher level of difficulty and focus on combat put Silksong far and away better than Hollow Shite.

I think it's better than Hollow Knight from map design alone, very improved in my opinion. Yes B area exists but I feel like it's tolerable since it's late in the game + it's literally supposed to be ass to navigate so it fits well

How to Get Ending D in Hollow Knight Silksong
Players will get Ending D if they defeat Grand Mother Silk while Hornet is cursed. To get cursed, they'll need to find the Twisted Bud item in Bilewater and then take it to Greyroot in Shellwood, though only after they've completed the Rite of the Pollip Wish. They should make sure to avoid completing the Infestation Operation Wish, as doing so will result in Hornet being cured, thus making it impossible to get the cursed ending.

I legitimately think that this is going to catapult Silksong into GOAT status for the new generation of youngsters. Because this is as impactful of a gaming moment as inverted castle.

Yes, you have to enter Bilewater through Sinner's Road then go to The Mist that leads to Exhaust area which leads to the Phantom boss and then you can get to Act 2 that way instead.

It's an optional area, so it's up to you. It isn't that bad once you git gud, but I only retried him after I got a nail upgrade and the spike trap tool that's good at killing the adds. Upgrades aren't what make the difference though, it's still an annoying fight with them due to the contact damage from everything on screen

For those worried and don't want huge spoilers: there's a quest you can do as early as Act 2 that debuffs you HARD and you gotta do some shit to get it fixed up. Apparently, you get an ending if you keep this debuff on and beat the final boss with it.

if you wanted to do stuff optimally it's probably the worst one for damage however, with the others you can probably delete bosses

I use wanderer for playing the game and Hunter for bosses.
the extra range goes a long way especiially since a lot of bosses dont let you get multiple hits in anyway (whole point of wanderer)

The first phase for judge is free essentially once you learn the patter. I'd say for the 2nd phase just wait until she does the smash attack and you can get a good 2-3 hits in then. Everything else just dodge. Also consider magma bell for protection

Reaper is the casual crest. It makes A LOT of fights significantly easier. For me personally my go to is wanderer and reaper as the backup if I can't do it with wanderer. Specific matchups I'll use hunter or beast if I just want to easy mode annoying non boss enemies. There isn't really any tip. Just wait for him to do an attack and punish. Healing is very easy against him, climb a wall and heal up there. Recommend using the multispinner for more healing
- Triple slash : jump over and pogo
- Horizontal needle throw : just avoid. Careful, when he dashes he goes much farther than the blade itself
- Diagonal air needle throw : great time to attack, run next to the needle and wait for him. If he's against a wall, you can slap him several times
Phase 2 : Gound slam : very easy to avoid and free hit after he lands

It's all about seeing her threads direction.
- Vertical threads : easy af, just don't be underneath. Great time to spam attack
- Diagonal threads : the most dangerous attack. Just avoid usually.
- Jump and charge : jump over and pogo
- Big bells from below : pogo if you can, then follow the boss. Climb the wall to avoid the bells. If you mess up, just jump and hover to avoid.
- P2 : Only difference is she will do large bell drops in a side of the arena. This makes her easier actually, great time to spam attack
- P3 : The biggest danger here is that she won't do the jump anymore before charging. Also everything is faster. Try to keep your eyes on the boss to avoid the charges. Better take it slow and focus on evading everything. Best time to attack is still vertical drops (big or small)

good advice for anyone working on 100%: don't worry that much about scouring the map for fleas, there is an NPC later who will give you the locations on the map in exchange for rosaries

it also seems pretty much impossible to fuck yourself out of 100%, even if a couple things like (act 3 spoilers)your silkshot upgrade or what heart you keep are mutually exclusive per-run. It's very charming to have the big final "haha secret area" be just ascending higher and higher and to have the more confirmed vibe that the surface of most of Hollowknight world is sort of a barren shit fuck place. Felt good to finally "pop" out of Pharloom.

So my understanding of the lore:

If you go into the Citadel through the mist entrance and then try to fight Last Judge later, the game will bug out and think you rang every bell even if you didn't. You will get stuck playing music with the two bugs forever unless you quit out. You can still ring whatever bells you missed and come back and get the fight to work properly after that

I don't think there's ever anything that implies that Silk, at any point, is sealed or otherwise incapacitated as a result of the bugs doing anything. Widow says she's sleeping but there's really nothing that says WHY. For all we know she got depressed.

The general timeline is that Silk uplifts the spiders (you see this in the first sinner cutscene where her thread in the most literal sense turns a feral spider "humanoid" like normal bugs), the spiders become a favored class in the Pharloom society that springs up around her, Pharloom nebulously expands, and then the spiders get fucking sick of how controlling she is and all fuck off. Bugs are at least aware that spiders USED to be top dogs prior to rebelling. You also have everything in the citadel where they experiment with silk starting with artificially expanding lifespans to raising the dead to robot shit in the end but we have no real timeline as to where that took place in relation to spiders fucking off.

The only three major things that happen in the backstory is that Silk has her spiders, the spiders tell her to fuck off, and then the citadel bugs start fucking with silk threads in progressively more fucked up ways. Now the citadel bugs do not super reference Silk herself in a ton of stuff but I think there's enough stuff listed where everyone nods to her being the monarch. Two ways to read it IMO: Post spiders fucking off Silk goes into her cocoon, the citadel bugs start fucking with her silk, and through her slumbering she gets pissed off enough to start doing the haunting and everyone slowly turns puppet as she sends them out to bring her children back. Other version is she's basically conscious for all of this and gets more and more controlling with the bugs until we also reach that end stage. The only real wrench is Lace and her sibling's creation where it comes off like Silk went "make this for me now" since test tubes and shit.

There's also the opening poem at the start of the game:

The weavers being a favored group is phrased by the seamstress like they were contemporaries with the citadel bugs but I suppose to cleanest (not saying this is right but just simple and to the point) timeline of events possible is:

Spiders fuck off, Silk goes into coma, citadel proper expands around her Silk, Silk experiments get crazier, everything goes to shit as the Haunting happens, current game,

The main thing becomes what active level Silk plays in all of this because, again, shit like Lace being made seems a directive and by the end where you have them scouring for any Weaverspawn left that's clearly her in control 100%. True. Though, I don't think the message should ever be "relgion bad"; rather, it's "religion good, but because of its leadership by humanity, has the potential to get corrupted very quickly". Religion in Silksong obviously brings a lot of the people a lot of happiness through order and beauty. The Citadel is magnificent. But through that worship of divinity, a lot of otherwise good people get corrupted. And the fact that actual divine beings exist complicates matters, too.

It's hard to get the nuance right though. A lot of JRPGs fail at that.
