Yes, but it gets better after act 1. I wish someone had told me that. I almost dropped it after judge run / sinners path / mist / beast addslop boss. Saved the absolute worst for last.

So far, I've liked Silksong's first 6 hours more than Hollow Knight. HK's gameplay didn't really click for me until lategame, once I had acquired most of the mobility tools. While the difficulty ramped nicely mid to late game, the early game is a bit of a drag, something I noticed when replaying it several years later. Silksong feels good from the get-go. Also, I like the music more in Silksong.

Following the spike difficulty increase with silksong, your favourite/last game you played gets the fromsoft treatment.
It gets more difficult, no limits. There is only one objective and nothing else: Difficulty.
