I don't get it. I was at the shard cap at the vast majority of bosses, and while I would leave with a net negative of shards from boss fights, sometimes by some hundreds even, I would still quickly find myself at max shards again. Likely before the next boss fight.
And I never even bothered with the shard charm or anything.

And it's not as if I never used my tools against regular enemies. I did it somewhat conservatively perhaps, but if I wasn't in danger or if it wouldn't be a significant time save, I just didn't see the point during regular exploration.
If you kept running out, did that mean you died to the bosses like twice or more as many times as I did? Or did you use your tools for every other regular enemy encounter during exploration?


I also never farmed for rosaries. If I couldn't buy something, I just waited until I could. I never needed to go out of my way to farm. It would come to me naturally through regular gameplay well before I reached the end of the game. Was able to clear out all the shops, and donations, and upgrades and such, easily. If I just accepted I couldn't get everything immediately.

I have the same experience as you. Even at the end of act 1, I was able to buy that 880 rosary charm before heading out to the last judge just because I didn't want to lose my rosaries. Never used the charm lol.
I really only use tools once I'm fairly used to a boss moveset, that way they can power me through, as opposed to me just churning through shards every attempt.
I feel a pretty natural harmony with how the devs probably expected the player to act. This corresponds to me quickly finding maps, secrets, and benches too. I've watched a couple streamers, and they're generally very wasteful and disorganized, so maybe some people just aren't built for this game.

I would say exploration is the most gripe I have with act 3 because there is not much to explore. Coral Tower is just gauntlet, area near grand lift is just parkour and boss leading to another boss, new area in far fields is too small for my tastes. The only two area I have enjoyed exploring are Abyss and Verdana.
Also bosses are hit or miss, the only ones I liked so far are Tormented Trobbio and Clover Dancers

It might weigh on you a little bit to thoroughly comb through the entire world again in act3 after having already done so in act1&2. But it's genuinely excellent how act1 is kind of structured and fairly linear, and then act2 opens up considerably. And the world is absolutely shock full of secrets. And new abilities significantly expand what terrain and paths you're able to traverse.
It's a splendid metroidvania.

I love how you literally need online help to beat this game. No one would be able to figure out what the fuck this game is or how to play it without the internet.

The reward seems to be the satisfaction of beating the bosses. Or maybe if you like exploring the world. Honestly it's not my fave metroidvania. The difficulty balance is all over the place and I'm not sure if that's intentional. I haven't had much challenge this today since I got into the citadel. I'm not sure what I think about this game at this point. It has some mediocre platforming segments that haven't been too bad. It has some top tier boss fights that are tougher than the other parts of the game. The movement is more enjoyable than Hollow Knight. The items you get and how they handle resource management baffles me. I'd like to see them make this game over as a linear action platformer just to see if they even know how to design a game because this is a weird hodgepodge of a game. I'd forgive a lot of it if I end up getting overpowered for the rest of the game and can just chill through the rest without thinking. I don't like difficulty slumps and spikes all over the place. I really love them. some I probably even enjoy more than a lot of the bosses and I really love those too.

Enemy gauntlets kind of both simultaneously ask for and allow for greater feats of movement as you swing through and from enemy to enemy. And that kind of agile, movement heavy combat is just super satisfying and in my mind also Silksong's greatest strength. And I'd say that strength shines rather well in the enemy gauntlets.

For a very clear cut example. The Coral Tower fights. Crust King was cool, but I really do think I enjoyed the fights leading up to it even more.
Probably won't happen. But if Silksong ever gets its own Godhome equivalent, which it very well might, then I kind of hope there'll be enemy gauntlet pantheons too. But maybe I'm alone in that wish.

People are vastly overrating Hollow Knight's bosses. Most of the good ones were DLC or misremembered as being more complex or challenging than they were. Soul Master, Mantis Lords, Lost Kin, and Hollow Knight are the best the game has to offer. I also forgot the sheer number of filler bosses, especially the dream bosses that are just barely animated JPEGs that hover or teleport around the screen and spam projectiles. Karmelita alone shits on every single boss in base Hollow Knight combined.

Bellhart, despite being a tiny and peaceful town with just two caves north and south of it. Is connected to like 3 areas. And right next to horizontal and fairly easily traversable paths that too connect to even more regions.

Every mook in this game is the same

It's pretty clear that they hammered out the scope of the world before locking in the final enemy count and couldn't come up with unique ideas for new enemies. Everything in the coral tower act 3 gauntlet is just a reskinned version of an enemy you've already fought.
