It wasn't until she got off the bike and it switched to 1st person view that I had the most unsettling realization and feeling of disgust over what I just saw. They literally thought this footage was good enough to open up with? That it would be an exciting moment to show Samus stunting on a fucking motorcycle like she's in Mad Max, in an empty fucking wasteland???

Precisely the issue. Open world is the brainrot doomscroll of gaming now, you don't have to keep track of story or questlines, you just mindlessly do one or two locations at a time before getting bored and moving to the next screen. BotW really killed open world mechanics, at least Skyrim had characters and quests.
