Shadow of the Colossus is such a singular game. There's really nothing like it out there when you look at the whole package, specially how the aesthetics frames the rest of the experience.

Worked for me. The key to enjoying the game is NOT spamming doggo commands. Let it do what it does, once in a while give it a command. Then it becomes the slow paced melancholic game it's supposed to be and then you don't have problems with AI. Most of those problems come from inpatient gamers interrupting AI as it's trying to do the thing it's supposed to do

I'm really excited. I loved Ico and Shadow of the Colossus (havent played TLG yet) and I love giant robots and scifi. Especially in unique settings like Escaflowne, Dunebine, and Orguss 02 and Moebius and Nausica. Apparently Iron Giant was his inspiration too and I loved that movie as a kid. Ueda games have beautiful mysterious and adding giant robots to that just fucking gets me so fucking excited. Especially since all his games are about bonding so we get to bond with this guy.

In a way the Colossus gave me giant robo vibes. Wander at the end had atomic Godzilla breath and Trico is like a kaiju.

He was fighting with Emon's people at the end of the game purely in self-defense, but besides that, there's no definitive proof of him being evil or wanting to destroy the world. He appears as this huge creature of darkness that humans fear yet his voice generates light, and the last scene in the game with Mono shows that the place he was speaking from is a beautiful garden overflowing with life, unlike everything else in the forbidden land. Not to mention, he kept his part of the deal with Wonder and revived Mono back to life.

I was a little piss baby 6 year old when the game came out, playing it on my dad's PS2 for 30 minutes at a time in the morning after he left and before I went off to school. We didn't have a memory card for some reason so I'd spend 30 minutes wandering through the world, just looking for anything to do. I could only beat the first colossus and then have to leave for school. After a week or two of getting good at fighting the first colossus and eventually figuring out that you can actually raise your sword to find a colossus and pinpoint their weakspot I stumbled my way onto the second colossus. I was actually really scared of the colossus since I was a stupid fucking child so I avoided the 2nd colossus for like a week or two and just tried wandering around some more to find other places, or just tried killing it with arrows since I was too scared to approach it. I don't remember very much afterwards since I was like 6 or 7 at the time, but I remember being able to beat the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd colossus before having to go off to school, and I just had to sit in wonder at what the other 13 statues could be. Eventually my dad found out I've been playing on his PS2 and he finally bought a memory card and he even let me play whenever he was at home not using the PS2, so I eventually progressed further and further into the game. I remember deleting my save file several times over because every new colossus scared me, or I couldn't beat the bird one and just wanted to go back to the first 3 colossi again. I remember loading up my dad's save file and fighting the final boss for a few hours, still wondering what all the colossi inbetween were like, which encouraged me to stop being a little scaredy-cat bitch and actually fight more colossi. It was fun having explored the whole map already and finding a new colossus in a place I remembered. Cool game, never actually beat all the colossi until I replayed it 5 years ago and beat the game legit.

The only memory I have of it was playing it with my girlfriend at the time but she wasn't that into it. Was on the puzzle where you get the catdogriffin to jump on a cart, which shoots you up to an area you normally couldn't reach.
