Yes, PS4 because they don't have native PS5 versions and consdering that the trilogy was originally released for PS Vita, maybe they wouldn't improve much with a PS5 version, they aren't complex games not just in gameplay (more or less) but also graphics and especially graphics, the original trilogy looks kind of bad even for PS Vita standards (Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tearaway, Gravity Rush and the PS Vita version of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X for example, look better).

There was never a Neptunia game for Nintendo 3DS. For a while, the PS Vita was the console with the most Neptunia games (8 games not counting the dead game Nep Nep Connect Chaos Chanpuru), well, not anymore.

Played the Rebirth trilogy years ago on PC and loved them. A lot of dumb fun and serviceable gameplay. But V-II was such a perfect, complete and satisfying closure to the franchise, I said my farewells then. They just can't top that.

Rebirth 1 Plus is actually different from the Rebirth 1 on Switch. Rebirth 1 Plus was a 2018 PS4 release that was likely supposed to tie in to whatever the Super Neptunia RPG universe was (a character only seen in the RB1 true ending is a main character in that game) and the enhancements were then back ported to the three PC releases minus a set of characters they didn't clear the rights for.

Then Rebirth 1 was remade again into Neptunia Reverse on PS5.

Probably...the original game for PS3 and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 (I consider them diffrerent games, they have very different gameplay and mechanics) are of the few Neptunia games rated B in Japan...Re;Birth 1/1+ should be one of the tamest games when it comes to language, other Neptunia games have stronger swear words and/or more frequent swearing. So, yeah, it really could be rated E10+ (like Neptunia Riders VS Dogoos) if not for the innuendos and Neptune wrapped up in bandages.

Definitive way to play them, it depends on who you ask, if you prefer physical copies like me you could try to get the PS Vita versions if you don't have them already and play them on the go or wherever you want, at the same time, the PS4 versions that just came out are much cheaper than the PS Vita versions that are *very* expensive nowadays. What do these ports offer, well, I haven't played them (I definitely plan to get at least one of them) but Re;Birth 1+ includes DLC and/or has more playable characters than the PS Vita version, which is why it's known as ''Re;Birth 1+'' specifically on PS4, the other two games should be simple ports, the same as the PS Vita version in 1080p/full HD but the same game at the end of the day...and the best game in the series in the opinion of a lot of people is Megadimension Neptunia VII...

These games mainly suffer from not having good enemy design that matches up with the combat system’s strong points, making you think about what you’re doing. You have this combo system with different attack types, but it doesn’t really matter what you do. Mk2 and VIIR are a bit better because the mechanics are more involved and can be fun to mess around with even if the enemies are all pushovers, but it’s still a problem.
Death End Re;quest is better about this, but it’s frustrating on the first playthrough because CH are still bad game designers and don’t know how to intuitively communicate the battle mechanics to the player. So you end up with a boss that’s only weak to being smashed into the walls, but it’s also a heavy enemy that’s hard to launch. You might think launching him is the wrong choice because of this, only to accidentally learn it’s the only real option after you’ve been wasting your time doing chip damage. And don’t get me started on the counterattacking, or that Ripuka boss.
Basically, they make 80% decent games with either nonexistent balancing, or very poor design language that fucks them over. I wonder if the latter is the cause of the former, because they think it’s easier to not even bother when they make monstrosities like the Ripuka boss when they do try.

Yeah this is why I get so annoyed with CH. I knew they're practically indie dev sized but their almost no existing attempts to make the games more fun makes me very annoyed. VIIR was a step in the right direction and even Re:Versed IMO was the best iteration of the RB systems. But as you said its never that hard and knowing CH a hard mode is just inflating stats. You barely need to care about what you do beyond min maxing damage and going all out. Its also why I hate the SvS system, not because its action instead of turn but because its just so awfully down I don't even want to play it. The major issue with Neptunia is that the voice actresses they used are far too expensive to hire for small projects. Whatever it is that they do, it would hinge entirely on that.
