Raids in general have just become boring.
Over the years we've seen a massive shift from a party responsiblity of delegating certain tasks by job convenience/player capability to individual responsibility as the game has forcibly assigned them for you. Yes, absolutely. A lot of resource management today simply isn't required any more. Tanks pulling big back then required both the healer and tank to play really well and sometimes the DPS to stun certain key casts. This is all gone now.

DT dungeons are absolutely boring once you know the mechanics. Its the same with the deep dungeons solo: PotD and HoH play vastly different than EO and PT. The former still requires discipline in pom usage and requires you to do kiting/trap knowledge to get through. EO and PT you just need to know the gotchas.

I've got a kind of theory relating to that. It's that up until I want to say Endwalker every single final dungeon in the expansion felt noticably more difficult than the previous. 2.5 was "Wow this is not like the other bosses, this is tough" (I had not done coils, which is obviously much tougher). 3.5 and Ilberd was the same. 4.5 and the same, 5.5 and the same.

If you go back and do them they are a snoozefest, but the novelty of the telegraphs and aggressiveness with them tended to be higher than what came before. It may be that they actually upped the challenge to make the concluding fight feel more oomf-y. In terms of MSQ on release I can say the knights of thordan were stupidly easy from what I remember, really depressingly so. Shinryu was quite tough, hades was tough, and Meteion was too. It's harder for me to remember the non finale dungeons.

I want to say no, but it's a very soft no. Frog-guy was kinda rough in shadowbringers for some reason (I forget why), that entire dungeon was a little dicy in a good way on release as I recall. Vanaspati was kind of stimulating. The Vault was with the final boss.

As to your question, probably yes. Stat bloat can also impact that where something that would usually have been much more lethal gets less so over time.

Difficult is entirely dependant on the person but they absolutely were more engaging.
Everybody had shit to juggle to perfom large pulls. Healers and tanks had to know their shit and how to deal with it but you most certainly noticed when a dps was adding their kits in properly when they could.

We've had zenos and nael. It's hard for me to see even Sepiroth doing something big. Maplestory is king of Neat Rotations/Skills but basically zero job identity beyond that. It's also substantially easier to have Neat Rotations/Skills when your character is, on average, using about four skills + one buff macro regardless of job advancement level, unless your character is a Magician job (or Thunder Breaker, Blaster, etc. combo focused job, or a Mechanic) in which case things can get really autistic and arguably putting more work in for the same or less reward compared to much simpler jobs.

This works because Maplestory is Maplestory, it's 2D WoW with bubble-headed characters.

I would also like to use my own Maplestory post to highlight "what the absolute fuck does ANYBODY mean by job identity?" and how inherently worthless job identity can be as a discussion, because Maplestory is generally thought to have good job identity when the main differentiations between classes are what the four buttons + buff macro button you push do or whether they carry you in a certain direction on use. Maplestory has just as many unga bunga jobs that hold an attack skill all day and then win as it does high IQ jobs where you're playing piano on a keyboard to do the same job as your mouthbreathing Warrior. The number of projectile attacks available to every single job grouping largely renders Bowmen obsolete as an entire grouping, or every job getting an airdash because it feels nicer when every job can do that meant Thief as a grouping lost some identity. Magicians' job identity was having total element mastery broken up between ice/lightning, fire/poison, and holy (plus EXP gain on holy/clerics), but this mattered less and less over time.

So basically "job identity" kinda depends on how nitpicky you're being or how much of a cynical autist you're being, since moving back over to FF14, this game does hit most of the same job differentiation points that Maplestory is considered to, and even holds the same context of that job differentiation pretty much not mattering within raids outside of your armor aesthetic and how much effort you like to put in to achieve the same result, and yet FF14 has enough buzz surrounding bad job differentiation that 8.0 is going to be purpose-built towards addressing that.

yes, I was more talking about the AF gear, but if you want to make a plated WHM cleric this is huge, but we've also been able to do that since Series 1 of PvP they just get more options, my main point was that no one is seriously gonna use say DRK AF gear for all their jobs and the vast majority of people will just use their moderncore glams, hell they're probably mix vanguard or nier gear more than anything else
