I got bored and stopped playing before I unlocked double jump years ago.
I'm not insulting the game, I think maybe I was just really burnt out on the genre since I had JUST completed La Mulana I and II back-to-back.

I don't get it.
People on here will naturally dismiss Avowed due to the objectively bad character design, annoying writing, and ugly art style but as an actual foundation for a game, the hardest bits, it is pretty good. It is the best thing they've made since New Vegas in terms of a GAME. It is FUN. Yet they just triple down on the worst elements.

But it absolutely is, at least when it comes to world building and writing. I'm into roleplaying in FFXIV (actual RP, not the other kind) and big on the lore of the game. While there's always been ups and downs throughout the history of this game, never before have they sucked so much joy out of me as they did in Dawntrail. Surprisingly, Wuk Lamat is *not* the worst part of that, but it's the complete and utter lack of any kind of culture on an entire new continent. There's no interesting history to speak of, all the customs are basically just momentary gimmicks and quickly discarded, there's no language, architecture, tradition, art. At least not to the extent that it's worth talking about. And my standards aren't exactly very high when it comes to that, since it's still a fairly mediocre fantasy setting all things considered, but at least it had the illusion of adventure and mystery. Dawntrail is joyless and dull, in a way that I never would've expected. There's a scene where we go into the gigantic cyberscape city from another Shard for the first time and nobody fucking cares. Our Scion companions, which are supposed to be scholars, barely bat an eye.

PoE2's Atlas needs to have fixed boundaries. Make it smaller and so that you can reach the edges. Have insanely hard and juiced maps there, or just weird unique maps. Then have the ability to beat a boss to reset the atlas and "try again" with Doriyani.
That also helps to reduce citadel RNG if they are naturally closer to the edge. I think the Atlas has an issue where I want it to be the further I get from the center the more dangerous and weird it becomes, but right now it is just an infinitely scrolling landscape. I mean even the PoE1 Atlas has the idea that the further you get away from the start the higher tier the maps are. It just feels unnatural that something right next to the center is the same as something 10,000 nodes away.
