There's not much you can do about it. Platinum designed the game around needing hard lock-on mechanics with their bosses. Trying to beat Chapter 6's boss without is damn near impossible.

The previous games had a priority system that worked pretty well, this one doesn't seem to have the same accuracy so they added a Zelda-style lock on. Cause in this game it is possible to expect Yakumo to target an enemy you're facing, only to have him attack another enemy close behind you, that happened to me once so far with a large enemy. Ryu really is straight up busted, I do wish some of his older strings came back. I can easily clear trails with the lowest or second lowest hp debuff while I struggle with Yakoomer if I do the same.

anyway, as far as I know you can cancel your moves into blood raven block to keep yourself safe, but I haven't tested much

I shouldn’t complain about this, but this game is god damn long. I’m only at the chapter 8 boss fight and I’ve already been playing for 17 hours. Other non open world single player games I would have finished by the 12 hour mark. I’ll start a mission and say to myself that I’ll get off when it’s done, but it just keeps going and by the time I finish I’m mentally and physically exhausted.

They are. Stellar Blade got a lot of free attention by being a Sony published game that wasn't woke or whatever, so youtubers and Xitter would talk about it 24/7. Ninja Gaiden doesn't have any of that shit. All it does is prove that one statement of "making a good game isn't enough" to be true. You need some controversey to sell. Stellar Blade got a lot of attention because of politics. Ass Creed Shadows got a lot of attention because of politics. Pokemon ZA, Digimon Time Stranger and Palworld got a lot of attention because of the 24/7 seething towards Nintendo/Gamefreak keeping those games locked in the sphere of discussion. Expedition 33 got a lot of attention because of seething towards Square Enix for not making turn-based games. Hogwarts Legacy sold well because trannies kept harassing anyone with a passing interest in the game keeping it in the news cycle 24/7. Even Wukong made the rounds since journos were seething about it and the mews about how the devs rejected a DEI consulting firm caused people to make countless videos about it.

Ninja Gaiden 4 doesn't have any controversies to sell itself on. There's no guerilla marketing nor controversey to focus people's rage on. Rage sells these days, and with how harmless NG4 is compared to anything these days it's no surprise that gamers either ignored or forgot about NG4. Unlike those other games, nobody, outside of 5 unhinged NG2 schizos, is going to get angry or heated over NG4. And without anything to get angry over, Youtubers wouldn't be doing free marketing by making 24/7 videos seething about NG4 or seething about people seething over NG4.

Most gamers don't care about good games. They either want to be part of a movement or want something tl be angry about.

Ng4 was poorly marketed imo primarily because it's on gamepass + has a high price on steam. Nobody new to the series will pay the steep entry to try a series that's been dead for a decade when they can pirate or get it on gamepass. Especially a series known for difficulty. Nta but with the statue after teleport I chase it down with FS, avoid the beam it'll then immediately go into ground slam or red attack. I recommend interrupting with blood A with hammer if you want to stick to staff. You can immediately follow up with blood hammer X for aoe ground slam that might interrupt the next red attack since statue often does 2 reds even if first is interrupted. If your reaction times are an issue consider dual sword blood B for ranged interrupt up tap dual sword blood X since that's the fastest blood attack up close.

Well a RPGs difficulty is a little slanted but I get what you mean, the thing is Ninja Gaiden is really fast, watching someone play someone play hard if they know what they’re doing could be spectacular experience, however, a lot that watch gameplay before buying anything probably saw a popular streamer/youtuber (people that aren’t gonna be good at NG) getting their shit rocked on normal, witnessing their asshole get pulled out by demons that use the intestines as floss, might get filtered just by damn fast it happened.
Armoured Core 6s first boss filtered quite a few people too and that guy isn’t that bad, just fast.
Speed seems to a be a factor is filtering people, if a fights long and drawn out then the loss doesn’t seem to sting as bad since you managed to hang in there but Ninja Gaiden 4 could have you dead within 2~6 seconds of reloading the checkpoint, it scares some people off since adapt or die isn’t something most can do

That's why I'm thankful that we got a ton of new Ninja Gaiden and Nioh content, which NG4 DLC and Niog 3 incoming, while the series gets to remain niche. I can't stand modern internet culture and how everything has to turned into a meme or ragebait to see some success. Years ago, I would have wished that my favorite series had become more popular but after seeing what's become of the fandoms for series like DMC, JJBA, SMT/Persona, Yakuza and now Digimon most of these niggas are on the Digimon hype train are butthurt pokefags who couldnt get into palworld because its a reskinned ark instead of having a true love for Digimon and all the cool shit it has to offer I genuinely don't want Ninja Gaiden to become popular. The fact that Ninja Gaiden got all these games without having to become popular is a blessing, and the series has more than enough content to last a lifetime. It has more content than every other action game series at this point, so I don't feel it needs a new installment.

I did the same. One playthrough on Normal and now on MN. It's not too bad just to clear it, but I am eating through items every fight and skipping the ones that don't block progress so guaranteed C rank every mission. The only thing I'm a little worried about is the Ryu boss fight. It took a few tries for me on normal difficulty, so it's probably going to be a massive fuck on MN. No boss so far has taken me more than 5 tries but we'll see I guess.

I've been a fromsoft fan for longer than I was an ng fan though. I only went against them once they started making more shit soulshit instead of based Armored Core, and even then AC6 was so incredible (perhaps even a tiny bit better than NG4) that I forgive them completely.

I wouldn't mind that if they weren't so scared of challenging players. NG4 has like one rails section that can be considered "tricky" and one flying section too. It also only starts using alternate rail paths leading to optional content near the end. It uses like 70% of the game's duration to let the player get familiar with "block to slide, jump to jump" as if that would be hard to deal with for anyone who is able to beat the fights.

Yes. Enemies deal insane damage on master ninja so you want to be able to take a good 5~ hits before dying and get your health up as much as possible. You can still get 2 more health upgrades for Yakumo doing ng+ since some new missions are available.

That part at the start of phase 2 of the Armored Core fight when it starts raining missiles, instead of just avoiding it and waiting for your turn you'd avoid it while fighting mobs, and then focus on the tank again once it's over. Assuming you're competent enough to get rid of the adds before it's over so you don't have to fight both at once.
Basically the same progression but a bit more engaging. Would be super fun.

Always had parries, it's just done differently now.
Perfect blocks are so hard to do they might as well not exist, they're only good for the parry stack tech.
I wish the classic parry was still in the game though.. but the timing on the clash parry is the same as it was it feels like, just done without holding the guard first.
