Quick question. I'm playing 4 and I have a landy that just hit level 20, but I've not invested that many points into her build, using her just as a melee attacker. I have 15 unallocated points and I'm not sure if I should invest in the link tree or the double attack tree. She's the second slowest party member, behind the fortress (the other three members are survivalist, nightseeker and medic) that mostly just taunts and then defends every turn, so there's no opportunity to use the added link attack. But I don't have any elemental damage outside the single ice burst skill I currently have and, maybe the nightseeker's ice knife if I invest into it, so having a source could be a good thing. On the other hand, the double attack tree looks good, but it's expensive as double attack itself is 9 tp and the other ones are even more. I'm still leaning towards linking, but without investing in improved link because there would be no point? Maybe giving her shoes and taking shoes away from some members would rearrange their usual attack order somewhat?

That's the weirdest way of having fun. Growing each party member's move-set and gradually building them is part of the fun. If you enjoy doing nothing but normal attacks then go for it but that's the strangest way of playing the game. Even in 4 you'll likely encounter trouble later if you continue to not engage with game mechanics.

What I like in particular are battles of attirition. When you expend all your TP on almost every major boss and barely win, especially in games where amritas aren't candy like in the third game. I played the second untold on classic with an ecstasy focused dark hunter and a hexer in the party and the big damage on fully bound enemies felt like cheese. Bosses felt like just a short game of rng to get the right binds to land in time. I don't think that's as fun as grinding your way through 50+ turn battles doing very little damage because there's more satisfaction in the latter case when you do succeed. Well, to each his own I guess. I won't deny that I'm bad at the games, but I still think they're fun to play like this. Of course, the only way I can beat the actual endgame "6th stratum" bosses that basically require you to have a well built party, is by regrinding a specific party and following a guide, and not with my usual approach, so yeah it's far from perfect.

I finished EO1 around half a year ago and after a break I decided to pick up EO2. I think I played EO1 on Normal and started EO2 on Expert at some recommendations. Am I retarded or is this game more difficult by a fair shot? I'm level 7 right now so I'm still figuring out what might be good. Skill trees feel very expansive which can be a bit overwhelming.
My party right now consists of:
>Ronin/Dark Hunter frontline
>War Magus/Hexer/Gunner backline
>Ronin? Great damage. Went with the overhead tree for the fire slash.
>Dark Hunter? Borderline useless. I got the three bind skills + the poison one but DH feels very weird to use and I don't know what I'm doing.
>War Magus I invested some points into Cure and just grabbed the defensive buff.
>Hexer, str/speed down at 1, def down at 2. Also grabbed blind.
>Gunner, Fire/Ice/Volt/Riskshot.

In EO1 I was able to just get a Survivalist for most of my gathering needs but with how early into the game I am and how hard some enemies hit (three of these cunts almost wiped me) I feel like I'm strapped for skill points.
Are there any particular skills I should be paying attention to? I don't really want to full-on guidefag but would appreciate being told what to kind of avoid. War Magus War Edge tree seems kind of niche and redundant with a DH in the party, for example.

I don't deserve a dragoon housewife, but I'd like one regardless.

It'll be a jump, but the games really are balanced around expert. Treat your early levels as scouting runs into the dungeon, jump in, get some exp and stuff worth selling, get out. Eventually the consistency will come.
If you do want an early game boost, put points into the Hexers poison skill, it is very strong early on and can carry you for a while

Evil Eyes are cunts, if they're alone they will ALWAYS blindside you but their Tackle has low hit rate.
You can also always try to run away from encounters, heal up and continue exploring or go back to town.
Early game is supposed to be hard, this is to teach you to not overexert yourself and to properly manage your resources.
Expert is the difficulty the entire series is balanced around, Basic is actual baby mode and Picnic only exists for postgame grinding if you decide to retire your entire party.

EO2 is a game where a lot of skills are terrible unless they're maxed. Like with DH for example, Viper and Gag are both very good skills but you're better off servered maxing Viper first and then doing Gag or vice versa because they're pretty bad otherwise.

Midareba is their generic strongest attack but due to EO2 meme scaling, its not worth it until Level 9 or so. As such, you're better off going for Orochi/and the other equivalents and then resting/respeccing for it in the midgame. Clarity/Shiraha arent bad, but Shiraha (then one that needs Agi/Luck up is basically impossible to slot in most builds unless you rest at Level 70)

Viper, Gag/Shackles/Cuffs, Climax, Baits, Ecstacy are all good but you dont have enough points. Pick your poison, protip Head Bind reduces Accuracy/Tec Def and its the only one that'll save you against a certain encounter.

They only have like 6 good skills in their entire tree and one of them only needs a single point. Its impossible to ruin as a build.

Fire/Ice/Volt Shot, Riskshots, Snipe, Ricochet, Medishot. HD even buffed the bind shots due to infliction shenanigans. This one depends on the rest of your team. Just keep in mind that some of their skills are one point wonders and in Medishot's case, its a rare skill where you leave it at Level 4.

A lot of very strong moves. Someone already shilled Poison for you and its a very important skill for EO2's economy. Just pick a skill and work on it before doing something else.

Also, HP/TP Up and Str/Tec Up are all very strong investments and you should consider making a space for them in your builds. TP Up in particular is really useful to pick up somewhere in Stratums 3/4 since it practically doubles your TP Pool at max. If you can afford it, consider Esc Up, its just one point but it makes a big difference if you want to run away.

nightseeker's swift edge really only outdamages DH's soul liberation on the follow trace proc and max hits on both. the level 20 soul liberation base damage is 1365% on enemies with status ailment and trance boosts that by x2 and level 20 sword mastery by another +15%. regarding foul mastery you honestly would kill an enemy first before maxing out foul mastery, in boss battles anyway. unless it counts tagging multiple enemies at once, in which case on bosses with adds, nightseeker does outdamage DH. you do have to reapply any status after soul liberation for DH though.

I want to play Nexus but seeing the way you people talk about it makes me a little uncertain whether or not to go on with it, if some classes are really rendered useless in this version while some are very clearly overpowered, should I play with the balance patch first to not be disappointed with my favorite classes (eg. There is a gap between the best and weakest classes but the weakest are still very usable and very fun. Pugilist got defanged but is still a fine class at disabling while contributing some damage. Ninja is great and Zodiac is mostly great outside of 2 of their passive skills having negative synergy.

Z is fine lv20 onwards due to multi strike ether shot if you have imbues
anyway the damage loss on Z and Pug can be compensated by other heavy hitters, and Ninja can contribute plenty with Force Break, Caltrops, Daggers and Bone Crush until subclassing
I'd not recommend taking all 3 at once though if you also take Hero and Gunner or something it's probably fine

The strongest thing they can do is probably Warriors Might with another Shogun/Bucc using Second Sword and Swashbuckling to procure tons of chases. You could make the Arbalist sub as Shogun and have them do crossbow chases with WM and the newly added Shogun sub Bucc to procure them. You don't have to run WM though, a Five Ring Sword shogun can still be good if you want to play the RNG lottery. The other day/night attack skills if you want something more consistent. Kaishaku is good but it's risky so it's up to if you want to use it. You do have a monk though so you can revive any accidental ally deaths. Bloody Lance is a strong damage passive but it's hard to purposely build it in boss fights that don't have adds. Blitz Command is good but you want a party that has strong attackers and the sixth slot full so it wouldn't be good in your party.

So first time E03HD player here again. Kinda getting walled by the Narmer, well not really. I'm more so wondering if i'm supposed to be going around fighting previous FOEs for a while. I'm level 14. I got the Narmer to about 20% health with an incredibly lucky confusion actually landing. But my tank, the Hoplite, got hit by the multi hit whip attack which killed them and the rest of the the team broke down because of it. I feel like my DPS is too low maybe?

As a reminder I have Gladiator, Hoplite, Arbalist, Monk, Ninja. Essentially, each turn was Hoplite using Provoke or Line Guard if provoke is still up. Ninja spamming Shadow Bind in hope of getting Leg Bind. Gladiator normally attacking or using Crushing Blow if Ninja got the Leg Bind proc. Arbalist basic attacking to conserve TP for the Earthquake mechanic. Monk Healing the front row or using Kikouken to try and get off a paralysis

I hate shogun a lot because of how unintuitive the class is. In general EO3 is my least liked title because all the classes feel weird and gimnicky, like they ask you to read a guide on how to properly use them when in any other title you are given very easy to understand instructions on how each class is meant to be leveled and used, and to not surprise the best classes in tht game are the straightforward ones (princess, hoplite and zodiac).
In the specific case of shogun you are not sure if you are meant to use its multi-hit skills, or to use its commands or its buffs, as neither option seems effective right out of the gate, which is a shame because, just like other katana classes, its cool as fuck. I would have to check it on nexus tho

what I said is that the game doesn't help you find a satisfying way to build each class and you gotta end up looking outside sources. In many EO games the game itself tells you "this class excells at debuffing and giving ailments to the enemy from the backrow", and you can build with that core idea and know that you are doing things right because it is reflected in how effective they are. Meanwhile in EO3 I had to respec many, MANY times some of the classes because they weren't contributing meaningfully or dealing proper damage. I built a shogun focusing on the sword skills expecting to be a good damage dealer maxing 5 ring sword but the damage was pitiful, then trying again with other skills and none of the options really accomplished that objective of making the shogun a competetent front line damage dealer, so I was just left puzzled as to what the fuck was I doing wrong. Same with Ninja, wildling and bucaneer, never finding a satisfying build for any of them until I finally gave up and had to look for info online and help in this general, which hasn't happened to me in any other title in the series.

Sorry, but you seriously fucked up and you are missing more than half of the game. Because the game is breeze you don't have any pressure to invest in passives, play intelligently, try status effects, buffs and debuffs, taunts, and overal experience the game fully.

my honest recommendation is that you drop it and try to start with 4. Is there some good healer on Nexus besides Medic? I took a War Magus to see if his healing is great but I get my ass handed to me because his healing is bottleneck between the start of a turn and the end of it.

That being said, the hd collection does add a lot of important QoL from the newer games that makes them feel more up-to-date (like fast movement speed, 4 is now the slowest). If you start with 4 and like the series, you should be able to enjoy 3 as well. The first two are a bit more "dated" even with the QoL additions of the hd collection but are still good. I usually would say to start with 3 but I guess some new players find the series harder to understand at first so it's up to you. It depends on your experience with turn based games and gaming in general. 3 isn't impossibly hard or anything but you're expected to sort of know what you're doing since it's the third entry in the series. If you end up playing the Untolds at some point, make sure you choose classic mode.

Even if this is a way to get a lot of money nobody does it because you don't need mad stacks of cash. Money shouldn't be an issue because good equipment is locked behind enemy drops that will unlock as you explore and advance through the game. The only reason you would do this is for late in the game when you have unlocked a specially good piece of equipment, but doing it in early game is asinine, specially when you won't have even unlocked the skills for your characters to do that and also the good nodes.

Just play the game by exploring normally, beating the enemies and beating the bosses. In most games you won't need to do this at all anyway, the game is generous enough and having the best equipment available won't help you that much if you don't have a good strategy for each boss. Just have some gathering/chop/mine ready with your regular party for when you find any nodes to unlock recipes

I don't have a Switch 2, but using logic and reasoning I can say to you that I'm pretty sure the game would have to be updated in some way to allow the handheld mode to display in a higher resolution on the new console, it's not something the Switch 2 will just do automatically for the game. the short of it is that it's just kind of overtuned on every front, and feels very nice to play.
your main branch gives you the strongest single target damage buff, and also thunder fist, which is brainless unga.
combo is the DH ecstasy route, in a game that has chain blast. really rewarding to build into, enables hell slash like a motherfucker.
other branch combines a million damage modifiers for Big Hitty. one shots the superboss with minimal setup.

setting up the big single hit or seeing the jackpot of getting 4+ punches while ailing the target are both immensely satisfying; regardless of the OP-ness, they are just fun to use

Ok, if you want it I can give you a breakdown on Yggs.
>General Information
Yggs are a very good class that's often misunderstood because they work different from the other classes. Unlike other classes that use subclassing to complement their main class, Yggs' main class complements their subclass.
They have the highest HP, highest STR and 2nd highest VIT; while their TEC and AGI is subpar, their LUC is downright terrible and their TP is stuck at 60.

>Strengths and Toolkit
Their main gimmick is binding themselves to passively regenerate TP through Sleep Mode, which heals up to 10TP per bind every turn. This is probably the least impressive part about Yggs and it's mostly just so you don't have to worry about carrying Amritas with you.
The strength of the Ygg lies on their fantastic passives and stats.
Yggs are naturally immune to binds that don't come from their own skills, add to that Virus Scanner 10 (50% ailment resistance) and Yggs are extremely hard to lock down.
Infravision compensates for their subpar AGI by giving them 40% increase to evasion and hit rate at night, making them bulky classes that can also dodge a lot of attacks.
Overheat is an insane passive damage buff and the HP cost isn't nearly as taxing as it seems as long as you have a Hoplite or anyone on healing duty.
Their bots are also surprisingly useful if you're not using the 6th slot in your party. They chase your party's elemental attacks with TEC elemental damage. The bots have the Ygg's stats, so their TEC isn't very high, so to compensate they gave them very high damage numbers (170% TEC damage at level 10) so if you give your Ygg TEC equipment and books the damage can start getting higher.
Lastly, HP Cannon. It's not very good HOWEVER, it's very funny to use against the true final boss.

Highest STR in the game and Infravision makes Blade Rave consistent as all hell and Nine Smashes into an actually reliable option. Also, Overheat > Berserker Vow > Charge > Blade Rave is very funny.
>Ygg/Hop
Arguably the best Hop in the game. Highest HP, 2nd highest VIT, immunity to binds, 50% resistance to all ailments with Virus Scanner and 40% increase to evasion with Infravision makes them an incredibly durable machine.
>Ygg/Monk
One of the best Fist Monks in the game. Having the highest STR means the world with how Fist damage calculation works. But, most importantly, Monks have Ascetic Deeds, at level 10 heals you for 90HP everytime you use a skill, which means that Overheat 9 is a free 40% damage buff and Overheat 10 goes from costing 127HP to a measly 37HP for a 50% damage buff.
>Ygg/Bucc
2nd best Swashbuckling user. Look, you can't beat a Shogun/Bucc in terms of Swashbuckling, but you're going Deep City route so this is your best option if you want a swashbuckler with you.
Data Mining increases crit chance by 10% and makes crits deal 190% damage. So Data Mining, Overheat, Lady Luck and Crit accesories makes them actually hit pretty hard with Swashbuckling.
Also, if you want to summon bots, this is your best way to proc chases while also dealing good damage (Of course, assuming you don't have Shogun unlocked).
One piece of warning though, Overheat activates every time Swashbuckling procs, so leave it at around level 6 if you don't have someone to babysit them. If you can babysit them, max that shit.

I had an Y/P in my party. It works, but I only had her because I wanted a full Yggdroid party. If you want a full Ygg party it definitely works, there's nothing wrong with it, you have a bulky Princess that's very hard to lock down. But if you're not doing that, just get a regular Princess.

I also had this in my party. This one doesn't work at all. I literally only had her because I wanted someone to summon bots, and for the endgame she was my HP Cannon user.

Yggs have the highest STR and Overheat. However, Front Mortar is not very sustainable (16 TP with 2 binds) and Double Action is pretty much not viable.
It can still work, but without Charge, Front Mortar really loses a lot of it's appeal.
You could however have a Snipe/Sharpshooter Y/A in a disable focused party and it could work as well.
>Ygg/Ninja, Ygg/Wildling
Yggs do not have the TEC or LUC to try to inflict ailments or binds.

Unless you're modding your game or playing a second playthrough you're not having this one in your party, so I put it in the Meh category.
Magatoki works well since you're already going to be exploring mostly at night thanks to Infravision and Daifuhensha makes Yggs stronger and bulkier, and thanks to Infravision they will be able to work as a pseudo dodge tank as well.
They're also a pretty bulky Warrior Might user.
The biggest problem is that Magatoki and Daifuhensha both use different body parts, so TP recovery becomes an issue.
Also, fun fact. Bloody Lance increases the damage of HP Cannon. You're never going to use that unless you're going for that one strategy against the true final boss, but it's funny that the combination of Armoroad's and Deep City's forces can create one of the strongest countermeasures against the Deep Ones.

I'm not sure what the prerequisites are, but I've checked almost all my switch games and certain unpatched games do actually run 'native' 1080 on the switch 2.
