I'd argue if anything this chapter further gives Spamton a bit more legroom in the story. Since we now know who exactly who Spamton was dealing with and a bit of hindsight over the deal itself. I doubt Spamton will get more story going for him besides maybe Friend/Mike, but it was a good run while it lasted. Though Tenna init of itself is Spamton but that could be because they were both following eachothers footsteps for success (Spamton trying to copy Tenna's dialog quirk and failing at it, Tenna having Big Shot's motif in the S-Rank room, etc).

He exists beyond time and isn't strictly confined to exist at one point in time.

Now, Gaster is still "in" the game but it's an earlier version of him, and we gotta find out what his actual plan is. Unfortunately the Gaster talking to us in the save menu, the ch1 and knight Game Over screens and the end of ch4 are earlier versions of him who just wants to observe things for the lulz and hasn't thought up "the plan" yet.
I think the tweets could be where he ended up after getting booted out of gonermaker, as at that point he had already developed a close connection with the player and that's why we "need eachother".
Maybe he's actually sending us messages backwards in time and when we finally meet him it'll be the very beginning before he's even met us. Then we inspire him to start making the new future, creating a bootstrap paradox.

With Gerson's comment about Dragon Blazers being its own interpretation of Lord of the Hammer that takes its own liberties, I think Gaster isn't meant to represent a "game developer" but a "fan-game developer".
There once existed, an original timeline, with no prophecy or dark worlds, it was just the Light World and characters going through mundane issues until a tragic event happened. It wasn't even a game just its own reality that began and ended.
"Deltarune" is Gaster's creation but what exactly is it? It's a reboot of the world with fantasy elements getting tossed, a straightforward "save the world" plot, and it's a video game where (you) go in to progress the story and fix the characters' problems. No doubt it's a story about "defying fate" but really you're not the one doing it. Gaster's the one trying to defy fate via rewriting reality and dragging you along to experience it.
He doesn't expect much from you, just to follow the plot and the prophecy will be avoided in linear scripted events which he has written out.
But the player can still throw him off-guard. We can win a fight intended to be a scripted loss or get 0 console achievements which has him shocked and excited for what else we can accomplish.
Perhaps Gaster also wants us to take the future into our hands, and he's willing to let us take the reigns if the outcome is better than the one he planned out.
(Though through something like the Snowgrave route, we are forcing the game to become a transgressive horror story about abusing a girl, possibly bringing the story back around to the initial timeline/prophecy and ruining Deltarune)
Deltarune is a game about creating things based on pre-existing things. It's about the fan's relationship with art and its creator. It's about passing the torch, allowing people to take your creations and make their own things with it. What is "creating a new future" when a story is already finished and the ending's set in stone? It's literally just how storytelling goes. A writer will introduce a big lore concept with a simpler character near the earlier parts of a story only for it to come up again near the end.

Hi. I'm working on a fan game with a friend and I'll be posting some WIP sprites later. This is intended to be a boss battle with the Prophecized Cowboy Boss, but we're doing our own unique spin on it, basically

The boss is a half cowboy-half centipede. In the light world, it is an old VHS tape of a cowboy show, burned over by a random Bug Facts documentary of Toriel's. The boss is meant to explore themes of Kris's childhood, their inner resentment, and desire to be free.

As far as gameplay mechanics go, the SOUL will be turned orange, as in Bravery, and will gain a continuous momentum (as well as a little cowboy hat.) The player will be unable to stop their movement, and can only control their direction or hold down Z to charge a boost.

We're aiming for a kind of creepy aesthetic, and as the writer I want it to symbolize Kris overcoming some of his childhood trauma (what with Bravery and all that)
