It was by far the longest canto we've had, and yet the victory feels the most unmerited. It didn't feel like there were any real hurdles or obstacles for Hong Lu to overcome by himself, everything just softly resolved by itself. Jia Qiu was always there to take his hand whenever he got stuck, and Dante ex Machina vision conveniently transferred to Daiyu as well so we didn't have to face that hurdle.
It felt so safe and undeserved that my opinion of him ultimately remains unchanged.

Obviously Meursault would resonate with a lot of people here, he's an outcast that does fit in to society as a whole, he's someone "born wrong" into a world that already works a certain way that punishes him for being himself. Yi Sang would also be a common answer because he's functionally a hikkiNEET who wants to care but can't bring himself to actually try for fear of failure among other things. He sees himself as a failure down to his DNA so why bother.
I haven't paid much attention to Gregor unfortunately, it's been a very long time since I've read through Canto 1 but the general theme of being an "outcast" applies to him too even if I'm overlooking the war veteran stuff.
You're possibly a lot like the other people here. An outcast who has accepted his role as a dreg in society or some other kind of coping mechanism to help make yourself feel better about being different from your peers in a way that feels harmful. Maybe you think yourself better or worse than the standard human model but you know you're different in a world that is made for the standard.
Hopefully I'm wrong and you're a well adjusted member of our society who relates to something else about these characters.
