So you supplemented the games lack of quest features.
The game has almost no map features, so you supplimented your own.
The game has no way of reviewing dialogue, so you supplemented your own.

During my playthrough, Boc's dialogue never even advanced far enough to where using that item would be required. He first has to question his appearance, and mention Rennala's ability to become reborn, and then you can tell him he's beautiful. If you never get that dialogue, then telling him he's beautiful won't trigger anything. I repeatedly talk to NPCs all the time. So I don't know why I never got that dialogue, but I simply didn't.

You can say you didn't get lucky, but Millicent literally doesn't tell you where she's going. It doesn't matter how many times you review the dialogue. She only tells you that she's going on a journey, and then she happens to arrive at the "erdtree gazing hill" grace. There's no clue she will be there.

There are other instances that could play out like that. Like if you complete Nokstella first, then advance Ranni's quest second, you might find the doll, but not think to sit at the grace, since you already cleared the area. Had an Everdark Pest match last night where a shitter Ironeye wouldn't stop spam pinging. (Seriously why is it always Ironeye though?)

Long story short, other player is a Raiderchad and he and I both get Mohg spears and the Ironeye had nothing but his starter bow at the Nightlord. We both spam pinged ths fuck out of the Ironeye at the door and wiggled our spears at him. He just begrudgingly pinged back a few times and shot at the floor like a child pouting.

He 3 barred shortly into the fight and the Raider and I just left him there and finished the boss. The Ironeye just curled up into a ball after the fight was over while we Nihiled into the fade to black. It was all very satisfying.

Most of the time people just skip all of them and rush to the boss, which means a lot of time wasted running.
If you go to the mines right at the start you can both kill the easy enemies and then the boss and get out with a purple stone and a bunch of runes.
Mines also have a bunch of bodies with loot and wooden chests just like starter camps.

Yes but they don’t have a site of grace inside. You’d have to go in the mine, get enough for level 2, run back out of the mine to level up, then run back in the mine and kill the boss, then run about out it again. And in order to get to the mine right at the start you’d have to run past the baby camp and the site of grace meant to bring you to level which would make that entire mine way faster. It just doesn’t make any fucking sense to do anything else first but the baby camp. I don’t get why so many people who play this game are allergic to babies.
