Dupe what, the shimmer or the pumps? The shimmer doesn't duplicate anything, it uncrafts whatever falls in. If you mean, "will pumping the shimmer duplicate it?" then no initially, no. Pumps transfer liquids between them at a pretty 1:1 ratio, so an inlet in a full pond and an outlet in an empty one will simply transfer the liquids from pond one to another.

You can, however, place the outlet pump above a liquid duplication pyramid to make the output produce more liquid than the input is sucking in.

i feel like terraria has been getting alot worse in terms of updates recently.
this has been going on since 1.4 for me, but the devs just keep adding the most worthless content to the game. i mean like, really random "side-content" for example: golf, gimmick seeds, slime pets, or furniture sets.
i don't know a single person who frequently interacts with golf in terraria. not one. i bet 90% of players played it for an hour when 1.4 released and then forgot it ever existed.
the newest patches seem to be continuing this, so many gimmicky trinkets and less real content.
recently ive been playing older versions and i find them far more cohesive despite having less content.
the constant "quality of life" additions aren't helping. the loadout selector with 3 armor sets was a terrible idea with worse execution.

The solution shouldn't be grind, it should be exploration and new areas. Both valheim and terraria are too light on this because it's the hardest content to make, but it's partially also design issues. For example, Valheim is proc genned, but there's no reason to ever really go to another meadows or another black forest. They by design made most of the gigantic world totally useless to you. In terraria, the problem is sticking to a relatively small map and not ever adding new stuff to it. What if beating hardmode unlocked the ocean instead, opening up another new cool world map?

Are there any good mods that add in bosses that don't do content bloat in terms of items?
Overall the goal is to have ideally around 15-20 bosses in both pre-hardmode and during hardmode so about 30-40 bosses overall but without like 50+ biomes and 40+ extra fucking ores and shit to find in the world

Put up stuff like bubbles surrounding 1 liquid honey (bubbles can be bought from partygirl) and campfires as well as heart lanterns and a bast statue too. All of these help you as long as you loosely stick near

Also, you could forgo that type of arena completely and make a very long line of platforms in the sky (not far up enough to be in space) whcih you can run along and dodge projectiles more easily. It helps with anything that shoots projectiles because they'll be slower relative to you than if you stood still

Try to dodge them more in the vertical plane than the horizontal one. You wanna try and kite them in a big figure-8 pattern, so wings + something like frog boots are best. Alternatively you can use a few gravity potions to kite them across your whole overworld while toggling the gravity effect

make at least 2-3 of your accessory slots dedicated to mobility
>wings (pixie, harpy, frozen)
>some kind of sprinting boots (hermes, spectre, lightning)
>shield of cthulu or magiluminescence
focus on dodging in the vertical plane rather than dodging horizontally; i.e. don't just run away, try to get as high as possible and then fall back down, avoiding the boss/projectiles on the way down

you could also try using a gravitation potion in combination with the aforementioned gear for technically infinite flight time, and you can just kite the boss across the entire world and back while flipping gravity to constantly outpace the boss, but it can be disorienting

is your hp topped off? are you making sure you've eaten a food item for the passive stat bonuses? try using a few potions, like swiftness, regen, ironskin, endurance, etc.

you can also try making an arena out of platforms. minimal is better imo; separate the platforms by the distance you can cover with your wings. having the platforms too close together makes it harder to drop down and away from bosses since you pause for a second when trying to descend thru platforms.

I think the reality is people generally want both, but we're only getting these small, "last one forever except not really" updates. It depends on what you want and it's probably fair to say updates have favored builders for a while with new furniture and decorative elements. If you want more bosses, events and progression then your options are either mods or coming up with your own playthrough ideas because Terraria 2, if it ever even gets made, is years away right now at a minimum. It sucks if you fall into this camp but what are you going to really do about it? I do too, I still like Terraria, so I play the game and make my own fun. Otherwise I might accept that getting 500+ hours of game for the 2 dollars it cost me means I got my money's worth.

Grim Dawn is getting its third xpac soon after almost exactly 10 years. They cost like 20 bucks. It's absolutely great if you actually like Grim Dawn, because you get to play more of it with new content and it's not like you're getting hustled for hundreds of dollars for microtransactions.

if you can't find the white biome on your map, look around the edges of your explored areas in the cavern layer. it's possible the marble cave was offscreen in an unexplored area, or even that it was simply a hoplite statue being activated by something like a bat trapped in the same room as the button wired to it. If you have a granite cave and you've found the shimmer, you can just shimmer the granite into marble and make an 84 block lock stretch of it in the cavern layer to spawn marble enemies. Just make sure you're standing on the marble at the end

You either move to a different desert, or kill a mech boss so the steampunker will move in, and then you can buy the clentaminator off of her. You can then either buy green solution off her to temporarily clean up your desert, but it'll eventually corrupt again, or you can move her into a hallow biome to buy some blue solution, which will turn your desert into hallowed desert, which will then resist corruption.

If you want to build your own artificial desert, it's 1500 sand. Thankfully, you can easily get that by buying 750 ales from your barkeep, then throw them in the shimmer, and keep doing so with the glass components until they revert back to sand.

Personally I'd like to see either giant mountains that reach up into the space layer, so you're either forced to dig through them with your shitty beginner pickaxe (maybe have the insides of them pocketed with tunnels or caves that spawn annoying enemies that can reach through walls), or try and scale over the top of them, which will then get you assaulted by snow harpies

You could go the other route and have giant pits instead, like corruption chasms but as wide or wider than your screen. There could be scaling equipment like broken scaffolding and ropes down each side of it, and at the bottom the beginnings of a mine. There'd have to be something preventing you from just platforming across, that forces you down one side and up the other, maybe a miniboss or a totem or something that prevents building in the pit's area so that you're inclined to actually engage with it to get across
