Well, as someone who like Nozomi and don't like Tsubasa much I can say that Nozomi works because she isn't this much or mary sue despite being main girl. She suffers a lot, she fails a lot and it makes player sympathetic for her. Tsubasa on the other hand can make every machinery without fail and her biggest problem is that she pukes. Not to mention that someone in the developer team clearly likes her more than others and it can be quite irritating.

I mean, he basically already said as much when he said Second Scenario is unrelated to the Cursed Cycle.

His mindset in general seems to be that it's fine if routes contradict eachother as long as an interesting story comes out of it. I think he sees forcing adherence to the details as both a losing battle and limiting to the writers he brings on board.

Most routes are effectively asking What Ifs, and SF's is just "What if there was a time loop?" and it connects to several other routes to achieve this effect. If you want this to apply to every route in the game, there's nothing stopping you from thinkin that way. But conversely, there's also nothing forcing you to either.

Is this a good mindset long-term? I dunno. But I'm pretty sure that's his stance. Hundred Line is meant as an anthology, it isn't meant to all tie back together neatly. It's designed to spread in dozens of directions just to see where it goes.

Would you say that the "villains" in this game also have complex motives?

He said that it wasn’t connected because that’s how he wrote it and it was done before all the other routes, however he seemed to be unaware that Uchikoshi after the fact made it connect. Very curious if he likes or dislikes what he did, but he was the one who left the other 99 routes to Uchikoshi and the other writers. Him saying in the recent interview that he didn’t know there were story locks makes it clear he really thought they’d just make all the routes separate which is why he said whatever route you want to be canon is canon without realizing Uchikoshi decided to make them pretty much all have happened and keep looping until the loop is broken in SF All 17.

I think it’s odd to keep asking him about the other route connection details since he’s made it clear he had nothing to do with it and that was all Uchikoshi (he just came in to help with writing their routes when they were running out of time)

I get not wanting to micromanage, but if I created these characters, this story and this setting that meant a lot to me, I probably would want to at least *know* what the other writers I brought on board were doing with it.

I get that he trusted Uchikoshi to manage it, and its kind of amazing the game is as consistent as it is despite everything, but it feels like a gamble for no reason. It couldn't have been *that* much work for Kodaka to at least stay in the loop about what everyone else was working on.

My only guess is that he genuinely just wanted to be surprised and experience the staff's fanfics unspoiled. What a long con, though.

You could assume they were bluffing, but last time they ignored a message on a blackboard giving them explicit instructions, Gaku was killed. From their perspective, they should have every reason to assume that they aren't bluffing about killing everybody since they weren't bluffing last time.

The sponsors options were 'Join my killing game or I'll just murder all of you'. One option is a game where the stakes are death but they could theoretically survive, and the other is just being killed outright. The choice Takumi made was logically the better one, so it's kinda weird how everyone was REALLY confident that the sponsor just wouldn't have acted on their threat if no one participated in the game despite having no basis for that confidence

Looking at the credits, I think about a 1/4th of the writers have never written for her or a single piece of dialogue for her ever. That's a good chunk of the writing staff that have no idea what her character is like or how to write her because of how early she dies in 2nd and how most routes branch of of 2nd. I hope Kodaka at least gives the folks at his team who have never ever written her a basic run down or synopsis of what her character is like, relations, backstory, etc, since a good chunk of them don't have any experience with her.

I have some slight hope considering Kodaka was on Retsnom, I want Oyama’s fanboy ass as far away from her as possible. Kodaka and Ren Sudo are the only ones who wrote Darumi being into a man so those are the only people I trust to do her justice.
