Here's your reminder that every Battlefield from 3 through V was Origin/EA app-exclusive on launch, and peak concurrent players weren't consistently available until around 2012, two years after BC2 released. Battlefield V STILL beat out 2042, despite not being available on Steam for at least a year from launch. It also explains why more games don't completely fuck up 2042's numbers. 6 is absolutely going to crush these numbers.

There are no maps that are as much of a clusterfuck as Metro or Locker. If anything, the map design reminds me of BF3, like Seine Crossing or Grand Bazaar, except with more intricacy and more ways to maneuver. There's lots of ways to move around the tight corridors of Cairo, Gibraltar, and Brooklyn without running into a meatgrinder. The wonky TTD is definitely part of the issue in how it feels to lose a close-up gunfight, but that's not the map's fault.

You can shoot at any point during the slide, but there's that second where you have to ready your weapon and it'll cancel the slide. However regarding Resort you dont have to join the meatgrinder, at the main building, you can just go to the other flags at the small village and ship wreck. With Peak it always feels like you are herded into the same two choke points at the village or the mountain base since the game doesnt allow you to avoid the enemy blob most of the time. Peak could be fixed if they added another flag to the south forcing the teams two focus 2 points tops out of three allowing for more breathing room to navigate.

There's lots of ways they could fix the monotony of Peak, like adding more armor for bigger pushes, or a transport chopper for back-capping, or a tunnel system under the rock between C and D to improve cycling between points. Wake Island and Gudal Canal was pretty fun though. Using the plane as a taxi (which is stupid but) and going into the air to parachute down to Bond infiltrate people by smacking them with an M1 never got old.

I didn't really think there was much of a "best" gun. Everything had its place and role, and you could set up pretty much anything to be effective for one thing or another. M4 was popular because it was easy to use, but the 417 was a monster to use too if you could get your headshots and controlled your spread. The G36 was super smooth shooting, the ACE hit hard once you got used to the recoil, Ultimax and AK were easy to control and did work at range, even if their damage output wasn't the highest, you could just lay into people with the MG4 when you hit the bipod. The MP7 shot fast and straight, even if the damage was low, and the MPX just got silly once you unlocked the Handstop attachment that let you sprint and shoot at the same time.

There was enough there to make your set-up reflect your use-case too, so you could adjust your weapon for different scenarios as you needed. I'm sure some guns are going to come out on top, but the balance felt pretty solid overall.

all the 33 dmg ARs have the same damage model, and so do all the 25 damage ones. the only differnence for the 25 damage ones is how long they maintain the 4hk and 5hk range.
the NVO had rapid dropoff after 20meters (you practically cant get more drop off if you tried), so I just have to assume the tavor7 will be the same, but with smaller mags as drawback. the magsize didnt stop everyone from using hk417 in the beta tho and neither does recoil matter much in BF so I will just assume tavor7 is a top contender.

I feel like the SIG553R is going to be a sleeper if not the hit if the high caliber meta holds. It shoots as fast as the Tavor 7, but with 10 more rounds in the mag by default, and probably an option to equip a 40 round mag. However, I have suspicions that the REAL meta king will be the AEK/Kord for a high ROF/low recoil weapon. It'll probably have less recoil and bloom than the M4, and while up close you'll need one extra bullet to do the job, at range I'd wager it'll be a laser beam, at least on launch day.

The Kord however im skeptical. a 5hk up close and the damage falls of rapidly, so even if its a laser, its still a 6-7hk past 20m, very similar to the mp7. pretty bad imo. the HK433 is a 5hk at that range, at only 7% less rpm. so its faster ttk at any range, by quite a bit.

Im thinking of adding the base TTKs of all guns to the image.
the SCW-10 has the fastest TTK of all guns up close, assuming it deals 33,5 damage like the other 33 damage guns, making it a 3hk at 150ms.

Nope. Mostly just Australia and new Zealand. The island folk and asians always just played on our servers if ever they wanted to.

Australia is a one-game-at-a-time country. Games die as soon as a sequel appears. BF3 went from being resonably active 4-5 64 player conquest servers down to 1 (on a good day) once BF4 came out and has been in decline ever since.

Now BF3 has 0 active servers with (as far as I know) one group on discord that organize occasional games once a month or so).

BF4 is still alive today (4 active servers on weekends), one if you're lucky during the week, but only because it's the most recent modern BF game. As soon as 6 drops it'll die within a couple of months and gone forever will be large scale conquest in Australia.

P.S. the lack of server browser will be absolutely devastating in Australia as you won't be able to find high tick low ping servers and just practice on them until someone joins you. Meaning people will join matchmaking, not find anyone for 10+ minutes, get bored and leave causing bf6 to die even faster than its predecessors (which is arguably the planned obsolescence intent behind removing the server browser)

The only thing that matters in a game with bloom is how much the bloom stat effects the gun and at what ranges. The m4 raped in the beta because it was high ROF and low recoil, but it has terrible bloom at range and is outclassed by the m417 which has low bloom and high damage. Even the AK205 outperforms the M4 at range since it's a laser with very high precision.

The reason the ACW-R and AK5 were so good in BF4 was because you didn't really have to tapfire them, they had insane precision for their class as carbines. Assault rifles generally all need to be tap fired to maintain their bloom but not always

Even 2042, though it was shit, had some autist making spreadsheets for damage and ttks at least for each weapon. I don't doubt bf6 will have this too. Really the only way the headshot multiplier ammo doesn't suck is if there's weapons where it doesn't meaningfully increase TTK, like I remember there were certain games with this (I think some older cod game) which had a higher headshot multiplier but it didn't matter because the base damage was so low it didn't meaningfully increase TTK even if your shots had 1 headshot mixed in there, it took 2 to increase TTK at lower ranges. Idk man, even back in BC2 being able to see the difference between classes was useful. The difference between killing these medic assholes first vs anyone else was huge considering how powerful revive trains were.

With skins becoming the norm, it will be even more difficult to do that. Hero shooters do this by having silhouettes remain the same (or, they used to do, but you can't look at OW2 dogshit skins and they have completely thrown these principles to the trash). If you cover the entire face of every class then you are already putting yourself at a design limitation, especially if every class can also choose to have their face covered or shown by swapping out skins. It will be an absolute horrid hodge podge of an unrecognizable mess and we can see it already in the skins we're seeing. There is just 0 cope around this.

I hadn't thought about it until now, but BF2042 uses fake names for guns. And BF6 also uses fake names. But even when it's the same gun they use different names. Like the G36 is called GEW46 in 2042 but B36 in BF6. This is going to really annoy me now that I've noticed it. Be consistent with fake names!

Bad DLSS integration and sharpening maybe? I don't know if sharpening does anything without DLSS on, but DLSS will add a grainy look (possibly a sharpening issue already) and it will be exaggerated with the sharpening slider turned up and will look much worse. Not an issue if you don't run DLSS, but I noticed the artefact would not be as thick or repetitive with DLSS on and the sharpening down as far as the game lets you--still very noticeable and clear but at least you could make out more of the actual textures lol.
