When I listen or read criticisms about zzz I'm always left puzzled and wondering because the complaints are kind of vague. Things like how the plot is being handled or the visual character designs are more tangible points to criticize but outside that when people say things like "The game needs something more" or "ZZZ still needs to find it's footing". What more? What footing? Do you want more complex combat and kits? More diverse maps? I feel like a lot of people didn't know what they wanted out of ZZZ even back in 1.0

Thank you, that's a pretty valid criticism on the combat, I liked that the last two ethereals we got have a little bit more going on, Yixuan's sister and Clown feel like actual bosses to me, specially when demonized they have an extra set of attacks. An event we are getting in 2.2 spawns environmental props that we can use to attack or weaken the boss. There's several small mechanics they've tried out in events for the past year that they never implement retroactively into the game because mobile developers are scared shitless of people not being able to button mash everything

That's true and real and I acknowledge that, I think what's surprising to me in the case of ZZZ is that in other games the flaws might be a lot more glaring or the playerbase has more or less locked down their feelings of uncertainty about a product into actual complaints. TV mode was the main focus of those complaints in this game and when it got removed I think most people were left feeling "That's great but I don't know" and I've seen it everywhere from here in 4chan to the normies and e-celebs, maybe even the devs

I'd like there to be more low-stakes stories, as I'm tired of everything secretly being an Exaltist scheme, but I'd also like the low-stakes stories to be done in a charming and well-crafted way rather than the shitty clown balloon ghost story we got for the summer event. Spook Shack's introduction quest should have been us solving a Scooby Doo Mystery, not diving headfirst into heavy Exaltist plots that directly tie into both Alice and Yuzuha's backstories. It's terrible pacing.

I also wish the story had kept the MCs as backseat navigators and tech specialists who serve as the connection between different factions, dabbling in criminal activity that crosses some ethical and legal boundaries, rather than being thrust into the danger zone as the up-and-coming shonen protagonists of our time. It says something that we're now basically working for the Mayor who knows all about us and is telling us to run here, meet this important person, go unlock this upgrade.
