After seeing other daughter requests (not from me) be done, like this Emily daughter, I tried again. And again, with more money. Got accepted eventually. Still got no idea what the root cause for rejecting earlier ones was. Not enough money (meaning a character design costs more than default price)? Not enough guidance in the description for what the design could be (I noticed the Emily daughter request had a guideline of taking inspiration from blue sea angel/sea slug/whatever exactly it was, in contrast to me just asking "please design a daughter of (blank))"? He just changed his mind about it at some point? No clue. But regardless, got Eden Daughter, so I'm happy now.

Doves are rats of the sky, the symbol of peace status is entriely undeserved.
For an angel harpy you could look at real life holy birds or any distinct birds from an area that also has bird deities. Heron, Ibis, Lammergeier, etc. Or you go for tropical birds since a lot of sacred birds from the East tend to be rather colorful.
If you want to stay strictly western, you could use the early Christianity's syncretism, slap wings on a pagan deity and call it day. If you want to put more effort into it you can incorporate less common design elements from Christianity: stained glass wings, globus cruciger, eye of providence, peridexion and more types of crosses than you can count.

I swear to God that encounter is one of the few times I've ever been genuinely unnerved by a game; it's like someone decided to prank people by putting a creepypasta demon in a kid's adventure. It took me until the post game to finally be able to kill it, and the successful attempt took four hours. The only thing that's ever come close to comparing against it in terms of the length and difficulty was Chaos, but Reina fought Chaos alone and with limited proofs.
Granted, I fought Ba'al i when I was a kid. If I went back, maybe I'd be able to kill it quicker. But it's an unforgettable experience either way.
I have never played the sequel and I never plan to because everything I hear about it makes it sound increasingly worse. BD just didn't need a sequel. But at least the music's good?
I liked what I saw of Diamante at least, and appreciated the Dove being the strongest one too.
But yeah. It's like if CGBA was teased for a major role, and then ended up doing basically nothing of substance at all.

I would give that name to Seagulls and Petrels, although the former are more deserving of the notion in my opinion, as Giant Petrels don't really interact with people and I'm grateful for that as they are infinitely worse to be around (they are called stinkpots for a reason). That being said I get a lot of people view Pigeons this way too.
It's important to note that the Pigeons generally viewed as "rats" are Rock Doves/Common Pigeons, and they aren't the Doves used as symbols of love or peace; that's generally either a stock, pure-white 'dove', or a Turtle Dove or Mourning Dove. The latter (the Mourning Dove) also bothers some people, but it's more because they tend to build nests in inconvenient locations and get bothered by the coos, rather than anything else. Rock Doves are larger, more numerous, and they live in dirtier urban environments so their bothersome behaviors are a lot more noticeable. And the reason Doves became used as symbols of Love in the first place is because they were one of the first documented and most well-known birds who didn't just mate for life, but were genuinely devoted to their mate and family.

When it comes to giving a glow-up for a Holy Harpy though I agree with you that there's a lot you can work with; Doves shouldn't just be it. Peafowl are very commonly used (often for Phoenixes), and there's a lot of fantastical birds as well. Crows are my personal favorite and have wonderful stories as well, from the Rainbow Crow to Yatagarasu and I've been working on a Harpy that will be a mix of these two. Taking cues from imagery like stained glass and symbols helps give more identity too; and I've done that for some of the Harpies I've drawn as well.

I grew up in an area with Mourning Doves though, and I occasionally still wake up to them outside my window, so maybe I'm just a little fond of them. They're definitely not in big enough numbers to cause problems at least.

I mean, on some level I can kind of appreciate it, because it's probably a reference to how the original look for the Queen Harpy appears like she might've actually been Reina before Lucretia, but it still kinda bothers me since Lucretia really didn't do anything to deserve what happens to her and it would have been really, really easy to just re-use Lucretia's original reasoning for staying ("the world isn't safe yet, so I need to help protect the world for everyone's sake"). The Harpy that's her second-in-command also says she doesn't really want the job, but she feels like it's her duty to take it up and will try to do her best anyway. But the Harpy Village and Happiness Village are safe, peace comes to them, and they actually avoid falling into the luka-madness and instead take the opportunity to finally just have sex with all their husbands and have kids, so at the very least, their future's looking bright and they finally got their happy ending.
And considering what happened to some of the other cities really that's all that I can ask for.

Don't get me wrong, the optional bosses in the online mode are the best, and the dove's ilk are the best of the best. I had a very similar experience and coming back in the end game to finally defeat them was the highlight of the gameplay, but just like Magnolia they were introduced as a very promising tease of the second game and then were lacking in their actual game. Magnolia feels very different from her bonus scene, making her out of character for that part, and the bosses as I said aren't fought enough and no other boss has mechanics as interesting as them. This is probably due to the game changing writers and getting a codirector to help the original.

It's a mixed bag. They got a different composer and while I felt he did a good job, the Bravely Default OST is consistently better, there isn't any track in it I dislike, while Bravely Second has some music I really liked, but others I didn't care for at all.

She really isn't. Shirohebi is better because of Weakening Dance and Immunities, Slime Princess has free Dancing Persistence with Singing Persistence, Alice 14th can inflict Corruption with dancing, and Apoptosis Cursed doll who can chain Dancing into Taoism and can use a dispel at the end of turn against enemies with stat buffs. She's probably slightly above the last two but she's not definitely the best. Also for overkill you can count multiaction characters and Daji

pudding's persistence is basically meaningless unless you don't have priority in the first place and you're expecting for the user to die, which you shouldn't be needing to anticipate. and I'm moreso referring to the value she had for the buff to ailment rate actually mattering a lot more later on in setting up conditionals on anything not immune to ailments or debuffs. iirc she's the only character in the game with innate priority + ailment rate buff for dancing. other girls usually have one or the other, but not both at once. and since it stacks with other sources you can very easily start hitting ailments on even end game enemies with 2% resistance.
prior to race changing she's better at setting up combos or buffing teammates (lamia has no equivalent for harpy dance, while all harpies innately have thieving use, so if you really need all stats down she can just thief's proof the opponent) and once you do start race changing she's better at using weakening dance than shirohebi is, as well as taking more advantage of all the ailments you can tack on to all dancing skills, and the physical/magical immunity dances are pretty trash for a variety of reasons (too expensive and short duration at first, and then by the time you can spam them almost everything is auto-hit and they become pointless anyways). most lamia dances just aren't that good in practice honestly. sea dweller has much better ones, like the one that does slow/stop, or the dance that inflicts wind/earth/water weakness. the only thing holding them back is there isn't really a good sea dweller dance user who takes advantage of them.
also if you need auto-dispel at the end of the turn that much you can just give anyone excelleon clear (the gun ability that just auto-dispels all opponents at the end of each turn).
having used them, in practice I found her better than both shirohebi and pudding. although I admit I haven't used Alice 14th, so I will try her out at some point.

As I said, still haven't played BS, but it does seem like the game wasn't able to live up to the expectations that the Ba'al's set in the first one. I also agree the original's OST is better too it's pretty fantastic, especially the final boss theme. Say what you will, but Revo delivers, so the second game's soundtrack not really living up to him isn't that surprising to me. Kind of a shame that they didn't really capitalize on the Ba'al as much as they should've by the sounds of it though. Given the stuff TD and the Goldfish do they definitely got creative with them. Alas.

I think he was specifically talking about the traits; as far as traits go Reina's is really good and in terms of pure support it's a more valuable combination of traits than Shirohebi's damage bonus. Taking into account the two as they are without race changes because i dont like them I would personally say Reina and Shirohebi are hand-in-hand for the spot of 'Best Dancer' as equals since they just compliment each other perfectly. Really on any team that isn't solely made up of Harpies, I always like to have Reina and a Lamia to pair up with her, because the two racial sets just go together so well you know?

She doesn't have Thievery Haste. Whatever you could combo with her would be worse than just going Agi Glass Cannon Spear User and killing in one turn
Also you overrate the status ailment buff. Yes it is useful, but not very practical at endgame because dancers can dance three times with Job Skills x2 and Delayed Dance. Delayed Dance making Priority Dance a liability and even makes Shirohebi and Reina worse characters for the LoC

NTA and I will also admit I am a very fringe case, but when I was fighting Aprio Lagos, Reina actually outsped her and was able to keep going first anyways, and after an agility buff, Lucretia was able to as well.
Chirp could not, however, and was continuously insta-killed every time I tried to revive her. But my point is that having a crapton of agility ended up making her priority actually matter a LOT more in that fight than it would have otherwise. It was a pretty awesome experience honestly.
Still I feel like Priority and Persistence are both fine; the point of Paradox is the sheer amount of freedom and options at everyone's disposal, so allowing you to interact with buffs in different ways depending on how you want to approach something leads to both of them being equally valid. I really don't care much for Delayed Dance, but that's because it's just not worth it for Reina. Sky Dance/DBD/etc don't really need reactivations, and whenever Reina was using offensive or debuffing Dances, she already had three different activations of her Dancing Skills without needing the delayed dance ability anyways, so her adding a fourth one at the cost of negating all of her benefits made it feel rather useless. It's not bad at all mind, but it's just not what Reina needs. But I don't think it's so 'powerful' that it automatically makes the two bad or worse off either. That's kind of ridiculous. Realistically her ailment rate after being boosted meant she often didn't even need the second dance to cripple the opponent (she was stunlocking Gazers so even in the endgame it was pretty good) and the third one often was overkill. I don't think Priority is losing out to Persistence in the final LOC; the two will still both be good. It just depends on playstyle.

Besides, by the time that update comes around she's gonna get an ability awakening anyways!

You actually only learn of him if you really want to fuck the trap, Fake-Rabi, cause this leads to the chain that explains more of both of them that is people in SEQUEL's world were smart enough to realize while men couldn't properly wield mana like women, this still meant they were producing mana that could be used one way or another. Fake Rabi was a victim of an experiment to power up something remotely and use it to fight instead. Their goal was likely something far bigger than Dire, but Dire is the result. And the plan failed royally. Dire has no fighting capacity at all and their lives are tied. While one is active, the other is rendered ''inactive''. That in turn explains why Fake Rabi never participate in any quests in spite of being a quest giver; while Dire is there helping in the part, he was likely rendered comatose.

This is true, it's also the reason why in blight's tutorial, Dire is active but Fake-Rabi is completely missing. Then, right after the tutorial, you can see Dire inactive in Rabi's house and Fake-Rabi is around. Fake-Rabi just goes "inactive" in his own home.
