MD extreme will further solidify how much evades are top tier compared to shit counter or block/defend skill. Even clashable counter/defense is subject to enemy levels/ offense level. Meanwhile evade just ignores all of that. I used a level 1 45 sp with evade to "tank" some attacks at floor 9 Jia Qiu (the low rolling attacks) because my other party members died due to failing to clash the Jia Qiu final nuke. Jia Qiu was around lvl 80-100 by then (can't remember exact level) and is easily mogged by a lvl 1 45 sp evading.

Unfortunately Arknights is a little notorious for being beginner unfriendly; these days the commonly posited solution is to use OP support friends to smoosh all the levels. It's not that wallet-draining, but its hard to get 'specific' good characters without saving, and there's been multiple true limited collab banners with good units on them. Frankly, while Arknights has some excellent game modes (like Mirror Dungeon but actually fun), its arguably better if you just read the story. That being said, people aren't wrong about it being long-winded - the worst arknights plotlines are the ones that get extremely overwritten whereas the best ones like A Light Spark in the Darkness are much more to the point.
If you have time to kill, literally learn to write fanfiction or draw fanart instead - you'll get frustrated but it's an actual skill, and you get more out of it than starting another gacha game.

I've been playing it since around they announced the collab with Limbus, I would say it's NOT newcomer friendly. It's different from Limbus where you can get anything you want by grinding.
Aside from a few selectors where you can choose from a limited pool of units, here you have to either wait for 2 rotating 6 stars to appear on the shop and buy them with hard to get currency, or pull from banners.
They also have at least 2 limited banners a year, + the collabs which are also limited, and the only way to shard limited operators there is 300 rolls (which is harder to get than 200 rolls in Limbus).
You also need to upgrade your units, and doing so is very costly in resources especially in the early months of an account, where you'll have to go watch poorfags guides on how to beat the broken new event levels for some pulls currency with your shitty units and 1 giga strong unit from the support system.
I have a pretty good squad now and can play and win all the content but it took me all these months of playing every day, I spent in total like 15 bucks for monthly cards, but it's not like you'll get anything great without spending over 500 dollars.
