Sounds like a loud minority. That isn't to say that OG isn't popular, but its fans or "fans" overrate how popular it is, specially in comparison with Z.

It's even weirder when its "fans" talk about OG things that frankly aren't true, such as "Remember when Yamcha was relevant in OG?", even though Yamcha never amounted to much. I remember TFS' season 1 having Bulma talk about OG events like she and the others were there to help out to deal with Red Ribbon, when factually Goku crushed it by himself.

It's not just that, fans also want to play with the most recent thing ASAP, and that's normal among fanbases. It's why Naruto had games where their story take place during the Ninja War, before the war ended in the manga. All so players can play as new characters like Madara early.

Yeah, the most popular non-WT fights are Grandpa Gohan and King Piccolo, and Grandpa Gohan's takes place in another tournament... There's also Tao Pai Pai who's an odd case, he's a popular enough character, but his fights kinda suck.

Sacred Flame is your ki blast, Guiding Bolt is your first big ki attack.
at Level 3, you get the DS Sorcerer's Radiant Soul ability, which gives you the ability to fly and add your level in Radiant damage to one of your attacks per turn. this can be any sort of attack; melee, unarmed, or spell. this is KINDA your Super Saiyan, but we'll get a better form later.

at Level 4 you get Metamagic (namely Quickened and Empower), and you learn Misty Step, which is your first Instant Transmission. when we learn Dimension Door later at Level 7, we can grab a friend by the shoulder to bring along.

at Level 5 you learn Haste, which is your Kaioken. you become faster and can attack more often, but when the duration is up, you can't act for one turn.

at Level 9, you learn Dawn, which creates a giant vertical beam of Radiant energy and deals a bunch of damage. that's the move Gogeta does to Broly in the movie, with the big pillar of blue light. remember, you can use your action to attack – then Quicken Spell to cast Dawn with your Swift Action in the same turn. after the initial blast, the pillar continues radiating for one minute.

at 10th level you learn Death Ward, which lasts for 8 hours and let's you miraculously survive lethal damage with 1HP one time per casting. Goku does this a lot. lol

at Level 11 we learn Sunbeam, that's our Kamehameha.
at 14th level, Divine Sorcerer's gain permanent fly speed that you can enhance further with Haste.

at 18th level we learn Sunburst, that's our Genki Dama. giant sphere of Radiant energy that deals megatons of damage. i think we can hurl two of them per turn with Quickened Spell.

at Level 19, we learn Foresight, and this will sort of be our Super Saiyan Blue or Ultra Instinct. it gives you advantages on basically all your rolls (means you get to roll twice and take the best result) and you cannot be surprised or caught flatfooted. it's not a Concentration spell, either, so you can stack it with Haste.

i forgot that earlier we could also have learned Polymorph if we wanted to become a Giant Ape.

I like Beerus as a character, not as a narrative contributor. I like how he isn't deliberately evil, he's just doing his job which just so happens to be destroying planets. He's like the grim reaper. He doesn't go around killing people out of hate, it's like when you take a shower and kill billions of microorganisms in the process. They're on such a lower level of existence that you don't think about them at all, and that's how he thinks about mortal life. "Evil Goku" isn't really all that fun. Black and Turles are fine but only because they're reflections OF Goku, not "What if GOKU but EVIL?!!?!?!" Just doing that is lame.
The only other way you can make a less "good" Goku work is by going literally all the way back to his roots: Sun Wukong. Powerful, arrogant, trickster, quick to start shit, LOVES a good fight, will still fight for his friends, generally has enough presence of personality to be the focal point of a story.

you can justify that as Kakarot being able to sense battle potential, and he could tell Nappa was at his peak and wasn't going to develop further. he was fully prepared to kill Vegeta if he didn't cut the mustard. Black was a good take on an "evil Goku" especially considering how well he fit into the narrative at the time. Utilizing characters from U10, the Super DBs, mortals being close to the gods and he had his own take on a godly Super Saiyan form. Instead of doing the thing where Goku somehow turns evil you had a different character becoming Goku and slowly learning the body but also having the Goku-isms come out. When Zamasu and Black were together you had that classic Toriyama trope with a duo that can bounce off each other.

Do we know how you unlock characters in the full release version of Gekishin yet? Looking at the roster it's kinda hard to ignore that they intentionally left out all of the "gacha banner" characters (Blue, Blue Evo, SSJ4, UI, MUI, Fusions). Are they going to make us roll for characters & costumes?
