Several anons post Tails, a Sonic character consistently rated as one of the most popular characters in the franchise and is easily recognizable to people outside of the fandom, in the dedicated Sonic general where the literal opening line is "Welcome to the Sonic General! Here we discuss all things Sonic!"
This could be ignored entirely if you don't like him as a character, there are filters and you can even download add-ons that'll make the process that much easier. You could not engage with us at all. But no, every time, everyday for the past few months now you've actively chosen to engage with us and instead of talking about anything related to Sonic, you seethe and rage impotently at us for hours at a time as if we're the ones being disruptive and off topic.

You choose to do this. You choose to come on here, knowing full well that there will inevitably be Tailsposting. You engage with us knowing full well we aren't going to stop. You choose to work yourself into a dizzying rage nearly every day at our behest and entertainment for no reason. For what purpose? What goal? You will never win, you will never drive me or any of us out. If anything your seethe is hilarious to me and makes me want to post more because you make it so easy to trigger you. You could stop at any given time but you don't. Instead you sit here and scream into the void as if anyone on here gives a fuck.

Stop seething and post about things you like or leave. Or don't. Either way, I will post Tails and other anons will too and (You) will not stop us.

NO MORE HUMANS in Sonic franchise. You choose how this goes!

Option 1: Retcon. Humans never existed, all named and or important human characters get blobianed and we pretend they never happened otherwise.

Option 2: The great dying. At some point humans just straight up all went extinct. It doesn't need to be explained, they're all dead now

Option 3: Outbred. Blobian and human pairings become more and more common, with blobian genetics being so strong they completely overtake human DNA until eventually theres just no more humans left.

Naturally Eggman ignores all these 3 changes.

Someone in a previous thread said they genuinely can't imagine Tails & Amy having a conversation.

... That's stupid.

There's a TailsTube all about Tails & Amy alone, or two I think, and they've interacted a bunch in IDW...

But even disregarding that. Just based on what we know of their individual characters, it should not be that hard to picture what interaction between Tails & Amy would be like that. First of all, both are the closest thing to literal, actual in-universe Sonic fans. It's not just a case of being mutual friends, it's a case of both having Sonic be the absolute basis for their ENTIRE EXISTENCE AND MOTIVATION. Beyond Sonic, Tails & Amy are both very kind, friendly and supportive people, so just putting them alone in a room together they're gonna get along just fine and be the best of friends because that's just how they are.

It's like some of you forget that Amy is a passionate and loving person in general. It's not just towards Sonic, she's like that with everyone because that's her personality. She's the type of energetic girl that would wanna bright up your day and make you smile, and she'd spontaneously drag you around on some crazy adventure to do something fun and exciting before you can even say anything about it. And Tails is a very loyal and dependable friend that will do whatever he can to support and assist you, and literally lift you up since he can fly. Beyond his brain, he's genuinely someone whose pure of heart and the best friend you could ever ask for.

Why WOULDN'T Tails and Amy be friends? The main reason there hasn't been that much 1 on 1 interaction between them is because Tails is largely so glued to Sonic's side that he never interacts with ANYONE else half the time, and Amy is often kept away from Sonic despite always chasing after him. So the times where Tails and Amy are in the same place in a low-stakes context or whatever is rare to see until very recent times. But that's a writing issue, not a character one.

Most of The Final Horizon was written in Japanese first, only the few main cutscenes were written in English first. As far as I can tell they simply translated the English originals to Japanese, and the Japanese originals to English. The Japanese version of the base game is still superior, and I think The Final Horizon is based off the Japanese version even in English (although I do need to analyze it more to make sure).

With the recent pieces of media like the Tailstubes, I've come to think Amy and Tails aren't that bad of a pairing on their own. Rather, they're just a very evident way of showcasing general issues with character interactions in the franchise. We want more interactions! Okay, but there's barely any worldbuilding. That means, those characters don't have anywhere to be, or things to do together, objectives, other tertiary characters to bind them together. Tails is also too glued to Sonic, like you said.

What kind of worldbuilding is expected when the basis of the series is that Sonic has no home and can travel ANYWHERE around the globe?

Like, the first thing that came to mind is the setting for Sonic Battle. Emerald Town, Central City, etc, is a great basis for the series' "hub world". Tails' house and lab is over here, Amy's apartment is over there, etc. But although IDW makes use of it a lot, that was just Sonic Battle alone. Sonic Adventure had a different hub with Station Square + Mystic Ruins, where Tails had a completely different workshop.

It's not just a matter of having named locations, the bricks of worldbuilding require context. Time and place and characters. What are the people of Station Square like? Y2K quest hub humans, I guess, Soleanna was a place with a culture and a story to tell, as much as that crashed and burned. The continents of Unleashed each had a themed culture. Their world is littered with Eggman bases, what if one of his badniks went haywire and began acting independantly and becomes a menace?
What does Amy do all day in her apartment? Baking, reading tarot, anything else? We know these characters have no parents nor jobs so they don't really have occupations to spend their time with.
Basically, the point of the worldbuilding is to give a framework for stories to exist in. What if Amy invited Tails to some tea and baking and something goes wrong and they have a problem to solve? What if Tails is working on a brand new invention that requires somebody bubbly and sociable like Amy to test it around? Things like that.

I guess the scale, scope or focus of Sonic's world is often very far removed from any sort of "normal life" for any of the characters.

Like, we know Tails likes tinkering with technology in his workshop, we know that Amy's "regular life" consisted of shopping till she drops or fortune telling or even baking. But a Sonic game is not likely to focus on it because the focus is always on a cool, epic "Adventure" that Sonic is on and everybody else ends up in.

I've noticed this too, IDW does tend to write its comic cast as being notably ineffectual compared to the game cast and while sometimes they weave this into the character's motivations (like with Starline and Surge), it never really pays off and often seem to be used to critique the franchise rather than actually engage with it in interesting ways ( Surge still has a chance though).

That said, I don't think there's a problem with writing a cast low level normies; it could be fun to write how such a cast of low levels can function while trying to navigate a world built for crazy people like Sonic and Eggman. Well, you are correct. I wish they could fully go back to the style of Adventure. But at the same time, I don't need a constant supply of new content. Even when I'm not satisfied with the new games that come out, I know I'll never get tired of the old classic and Adventure games. I survived through things like Lost World, Boom and Forces, which I just wasn't interested upon release. When I saw Sonic Boom for the first time, I just kinda decided "Sonic is over. Well, that doesn't tell me much, I don't know which cartoons you refer to, nor do I know TV station schedules over the years. I think I stumbled upon aosth in the early 2010s on a local TV once. Unless you meant when the earliest cartoons were premiering, which would mean you're in your 30s. Anyway, I was asking because, from my experience, it seems weird that you'd remain a fan for this long, but start to have issues with it during a sort of renaissance, even if not exactly 100% to our taste. Hyper Sonic was a game mechanic that incentivized players to replay the game. Dark Sonic is just anime being anime. SS2 is a cheap form created to make the normies pog at "going back to the dark age!". SS2 was wholly unnecessary, the other 2 forms were just little nuggets for the fans to enjoy instead of something to legitimize. Hyper and Dark had no plot significance where SS2 did.

I'm not an IDW expert at all, and I only have some casual exposure to the comic, so correct me if I'm wrong about anything, but I thought they were conceived as regular civilians manipulated into acting as villains. That sounds a lot closer to Knuckles and Shadow, than Eggman, Mephiles, or Infinite. I thought the reason people argued Surge shouldn't be redeemed was that a big part of her story was about criticizing Sonic for wanting to redeem full villain characters like Eggman and Starline at all costs, which everyone argues is OOC for Sonic anyway, so the natural conclusion to that would have be either disregarding this plot point, or have Sonic concede, which would in turn mean Surge no longer has a reason to be a villain.
