but by far the quickest way to get it done, is in the Nile Guard whatever tank mission; firing the tank doesnt count as "your" gun, so just do the mission as normal on easiest difficulty, and towards the end when you have to go on foot, just switch to your knife and rush to the downed helicopter, mission complete

Enemy has an entrenched position in a building and are spawning in loads of guys all while killing our team? I noticed on the bot custom portal grind server, when you had all 60 bots in the same place sometimes your bullets would just not register. This was extremely apparent with the DMR, every third shot would just not reg shooting at the blob of enemies. So either it's that specific instance or too many players in the same place cannot update quick enough to deal with hitreg, which is weird because 2042 could "technically" handle 128

You are correct that it started faster. Guns used to do 25 damage instead of 24.5 so it took one less shot to kill.
Can't say if they'll change anything this time though. And it took like a year for them to change BF4 so we might be waiting a while even if they do.
BF4 also buffed headshot damage at the same time they lowered base damage. Wish 6 would do that. The multiplier is significantly lower than 3/4's even with the expensive headshot ammo that only a few guns get.

I agree 100% on the headshot multipliers, ever since Labs I never liked their approach with headshots and custom ammo. Unfortunately I don't think they're going to change that aspect of the game.

In BF2/3/4, when you've dropped below a HP treshold (~10%) you'd enter a disabled state, lose a portion of your maneuverability and your health ticked down. Unless you managed to land and repair, you'd die and the kill was awarded to whoever damaged you ans got the points for 'vehicle disabled'. I guess you're arguing in favor of 2042 design? BF6's dreadful design is just the natural progression of 2042, which is a skill-compressed on-rails mess, too.
That shouldn't come as a surprise though, BF6 is 2042 reskinned and resold.

Except I do switch off to Engineer and either I do something about it or I'm immediately focused down as the only engineer doing anything by not only the tank I'm shooting at, or I'm focused down by the 4 scouts that have completely taken over the mountain on Liberation Peak while we are on DEFENSE.

Everyone just wants to play support, and the people who play engineers on this map don't actually seem to want to play engineer, they want to play "I'm going to miss stationary prone snipers with my RPG" for 12 lives.

i had like 1000hrs in jets in bf2+bf3 combined and i cant remember that but i think you might be right on at least bf2 where i seem to remember faintly something like that. it just wasnt a big factor though

in bf6 however its extremely noticable. it activates from taking around 50% hp dmg quickly it seems and with jets being made out of glass it affects jets the most. if you dont kill someone in 1 pass you disable them so its either a maneuver kill or you just do a 180 and you are behind them as they regain control and there's 0 counterplay.

The stealth jet had the same missiles that lock on through flares and they just disabled them. Attack jet has the same missiles that ignore flares. There is air radar but it's only active at the same range that the tank proximity scanner is, likely copypasted code. There are also major bugs or idiotic designs, I can't tell that affect air vehicles such as airfields having a teamwide cooldown or just a netcode related bug that stops rearming.

Search for Portal experiences, sort by most likes and select one that says "vehicle practice" and host it locally.
All the practice maps I've played though don't let you actually spawn in the vehicles, you have to walk up to them and get in. Which is a problem because they'll just have a default loadout, you can't test different loadouts.
It is what it is for now I guess, there really should just be a built-in practice mode separate from Portal, which is looking more and more like a failed experiment.

BF6 has flawed design from the groundup and will never get a huge balance patch because the Open Weapon system already skewed the gameplay heavily towards Support. Open weapons means you can just use whatever is the meta weapons without thinking about it, and what class is the strongest class? Support.

The only way to balance BF6 is to make Closed Weapon the primary gamemodes, remove carbine or merge it with ARs OR give it to Engineer AND Assault. So it goes:

Assault: AR / Carbine / Shotgun
Engie: SMG / Carbine / Shotgun
Support: LMG / Shotgun
Recon: DMR / Sniper / Shotgun

There's a portal server that bans Carbines and then made it closed weapons. Support isn't a problem anymore in that gamemode.

ive managed to get this 3 times over the few times ive played assault and i dont know how you activate this thing, or if you're able to tell if its active for other players

you dont get assists
you dont get any benefits or points at all
unlike engineer who gets way better repairs (which means more assists, more repairing values, more points)
unlike recon who can passively spot everyone (which means more assists, more spotting points, more points)
unlike support who literally presses one button and suddenly everyone around them is automatically resupplying and healing (which means everyone lives rose, just this once, everyone lives and you get more points)

As a BF tourist who only really played BC1,BC2, and BF3:

I'm still confused by them making carbines a category. They correctly figured out they didn't need to be their own category in 2042 but then they somehow forgot. It's doubly baffling when 6 is the game that introduced modifying barrel length so you actually can turn your assault rifles into carbines (which then have different stats to real carbines because they somehow remember that they used to be assault rifles, what the fuck).

support is 10x better it has instant revives, faster revives than any squad member, ammo, doesn't require you to even drop your supply bag anymore (when it doesn't bug), disables grenades, disables fucking missiles, creates their own cover and has a better thermal launcher than the assault class does and not mentioning their passive class ability when you unlock it is to give EVERYONE on your team (not just squadmates) resupplies.

With my grenade I might be able to take out 2 - 3 but if even one lives then they just revive. And trophies are getting more and more used so my grenades might do nothing.
My ladder isn't bad but isn't always a game winner depending on how far the enemy is away.
My assault beacon is meaningless if I can't push forward to put it down.

Support can spam smokes, then heal everyone around them, then heal themselves and get more smoke. Assault just isn't strong enough to solo an entire team and break through a huge defense with gay ass grenades. Smoke has always been the go to push gadget and the fact they don't have it and support does is just stupid. Taking smoke off support and giving it to assault would instantly fix balance by miles.

i personally carry this setup as a frontliner/flanker which is how i like to play as assault.

i never killed a single player in portal. people were probably getting confused with the dogshit UI. you needed rank 20 to start progressing those base challenges. and then to get progress on the follow up you need to complete the previous tier and i at some point missed like 1% of the repair challenge and didnt see.
