the subpar quality of the units from last fest and most of the 6th anni has left me really doubtful about whether I'm going to pull on release or wait most of the anni this time around. only one headliner from the 6th anni ended up remaining good afterwards and every single unit from fest besides the ultra was trash or powercrept into oblivion.

As a day 1 player I'd rather play nothing but daima for the rest of time than ever have to go back to the UMV and vegito blue meta. it's not even top five worst metas and you can clearly see how daima is set up to reset the entire thing by being a powergate team that firmly shuts off every release prior to ultra beast so they can then focus on balance and course correction going forward.

they really really do not. filler campaigns sometimes don't hint at the part 1 headliner, and they also very frequently only hint at half the part 1 headliner such as last years majin buu saga hints.

the anniversary is a campaign that is heavily managed by the suits up top. it's the biggest campaign in the gachas every year and the mandate is that the headliner characters have to be the most recognizable characters in the entire franchise, especially part 1, because of the influx of new players anniversaries always bring.

that is why the headliners in both dokkan and legends are always some variation of goku and vegeta, gogeta and vegito, sometimes gohan as a part 2 pick. kefla is simply not in the top tier of recognizable characters, that eliminates her from being the headliner.
the one time a anni headliner broke the rule was merged zamasu in the third anniversary, but it needs to be noted that he was paired with ss4 gogeta who was marketed as the sole headliner with zamasu more as a tagalong. the 7th anniversary logo is heavily hinting at broly with the lime green explosion, so the other character by process of elimination HAS to be goku or goku with vegeta, or gogeta. or mui goku if the devs throw a curveball and make the part 3 ultra ss4 goku.
on top of everything I've said if kefla by some miracle is one of the part 1 lfs then her counterpart will have to be the absolute apex of hype to offset the financial risk she brings, and the only thematic character that would do that is mui goku. very very unlikely.

The more I think about it the more I wonder who the fuck the headliner is. There isn't an obvious option this year unless it's mui, and the headliner HAS to be either the fusions or goku, it's basically mandated at the corporate level.

There's too much focus on tournament of power for the primary headliner to be from a different saga, but there's absolutely nothing from that arc besides mui that is worthy of headlining the 7th anniversary that hasn't already been done since gokuza can't really be repeated.

vegeta is goku's eternal +1 in campaigns so he definitely won't be the headliner. if they do two headliners he has a very good chance being the other banner mirroring dokkan's 6th anni but vegeta has zero chance being the solo headliner.

to go full tism looking at this from a business perspective there's several conditions the upcoming headliner must fulfill.

ss4 goku is a strong candidate for the ultra, I fully agree there. it also opens the floor for mui to be the legends limited here and then lets the devs keep ultra mui for the 10th anni.

Thing is I don't really agree about MUI's model, I see it every day because he's on my friendship farming auto battle team and it still looks cleaner than a lot of modern releases. The new and redone animations looked fluid from the trailer (and will look sex on uncapped fps ingame) so I'm satisfied with what they did for him, and legends limited means he's statistically pullable and has hard pity on top.

Plus him being an ultra release wouldn't necessarily mean a brand new model either, Beast got a reused model so they're evidently not opposed to reusing models if they're not too old even for ultras.

Goku and Vegeta’s LFs are lame as shit. Not really their fault since they’re just copying the anime and Toei gave them very little to work with.

It would have been so much cooler if they gave them game original LFs. Hell, if Dokkan and Heroes could make Goku do the Hakai then what’s stopping them from doing that giant Susanoo thing? I’m just sick of the Kamehameha LFs that end with them being whisked away.

Hell, they’ve added backgrounds and props to the LFs now, all they’d need to do is upscale the VFX for explosions and make the beam hit something and that would be so much better.

I've been using him a lot recently too. It's very hard to explain, but there's something about the way they made the Daima characters that set them apart from the other models and that's what I expected from the anni units. Thicker outlines for the eyes and lips (looks like the new MUI has that at least), the teeth don't have those pen strokes on them (it looks better), cleaner inner-lines, and if feels like their faces are built to be more expressive and animated. That but better is what I expected on account of the big update + it being part 1 of the biggest event in the game. Caulifla and Kale are close to what I expected. With MUI it feels like they just took 2022 Goku and made a few updates.

I'm not a fan of the animations, but I blame that on the anime (although I don't understand why they didn't do the punch. That shot of Goku's face was the best part and needed to be redone more than anything). I would have been over the moon had both him and Vegeta got game original LFs.

I'm going to laugh though at all the people who think this is going to do anything about daima and majin vegeta.
ultra cell came out, practically two cards majin vegeta, yet he's back in the top ten. same for kuu because kuu's not there to do anything but switch in to disrupt a combo and then switch out to buff the team. hit can snipe both of them but it's nothing we don't already have in the meta since his time skip works largely the same way beasts special beam canon works and everybody with a brain knows to be careful of snipes of their units when beast is in the match.

unireps is looking a bit more like a legitimate team now they have a red worth using if you pulled hit twice but otherwise the meta remains unaffected.

Well we're at the point where anime mobile games are better taken care of than anime console games. Visuals are either on-par or better, they get new content faster, they're more likely to get tertiary characters like Bardock's crew, and sometimes they even portray attacks better or we get content in ways the non-mobile games provide. Legends is the only non turnbased game with that Goku Frieza combo for instance.

Plus since I don't play PVP, there's no benefit in pulling multiple times for the same character, I get to sit some banners out and end up saving more CC. Also Daima getting added means I get to be excited for completely new characters

The changes they'd have to do to the game's units to make ground battles as a major mechanic in regular content a thing are too extensive. If an extensive update was coming tomorrow we'd be getting full blown ten hours of maint plus a version update rather than just server maintenance too.

Playing around a bit with a four star tien and vegeta and it's clear that equips really make a difference. they're both tanking far above what a typical four star unit could tank and it's all because of that equip that gives them 35% to both defenses and another 8% pure to both defenses per saiyan saga battle member.
It's going to a terrifying team at high stars with the bulk and multiple lives every unit on it has. hopefully I can at least bag nappa before part 2 ends.

as a OG player whose been in both prior metas this guy was in these buffs seem batshit insane strong to me. the damage guard and inflicted alone was enough to take even a five star ultra Hit from worthless to strong in the current meta again.

'feetku' would never die in the old days. then when he zenkai'd he was even more of a tank despite the meta seemingly moving beyond 'statwall' units.
these buffs alongside the plethora of broken saiyan saga unique equips might make this guy as tanky and annoying as shallot is, maybe even more.
on equips alone feetku can get over 110% to both defenses. his zenkai ability pushes that to 145%. his z ability pushes strike defence to 180%. then the pure stat boosts kick in. on a unit whose defense stats can hit over 200k.

a bit but more because of low limit breaks than issues with kits. the team basically wears out the opponent, but where most units have finite uses of their gimmicks in a match the five lives saiyan saga team has less powerful but infinite use gimmicks. it wears them down and eventually if you're winning priority enough it starts killing enemy units.

gonna spend the rest of the anni crystals seeing if I can get kaioken though, despite what I said there are definitely matchups where a revival and a bruiser are a better combo than two revivals and a healer-tank. going to wait and see if red great ape vegeta gets a unique equip first though, someone is likely getting one this part on top of a zenkai and if it's him he'll fix the bruiser problem without sacrificing the toxic tanking the team does.

As a newbie the some important things you should know for now is
>Characters need stars to be good. The new units won't mean shit if they only have 3 or 4 stars. Try to get them to at least 7.
>Equipments help tremendously. Try to focus on equips from certain sagas for now, like a ToP equip for MUI Goku. Just know all the slots in the equipment itself, will always be active no matter where you put it on a character. For example if an Equip says (Slot 1: 10% HP, Slot 2: 10% Strike Attack, Slot 3: 10% Blast Attack) ALL 3 of that equipment will be active regardless if you put it on slot 1 or 2 or 3 of a character
>Z abilities and benches. Z abilities are basically leader skills, for example pic related is the new Vegeta's leader skill, and so I'd build a team around units who would get buffed by that. Benches are something you don't have to worry about, but basically they're units you'd never pick to fight but are on your team to give indirect buffs to other characters through HP or other means.
The game doesn't really do a good job of explaining some of this stuff but you'll get the hang of it after a few weeks of messing around with the game

??? Is this Vegito able to nullify MUI Goku's auto counters? Because I stood still multiple times as him, no finger touching the screen, and Vegito would use a strike or blast and MUI Goku wouldn't dodge it even though my gauge was full the entire time.

My only problem with ultra Goku is that he has yet another generic super kamehameha. 3 of those in a row this anni. It would be so much better if they made the beam hit a rock and explode or something, just seeing it peer out into the sky is boring as shit when it happens over and over. Kaioken Goku gets a pass because it just going out into the sky is how it happens in the anime, but MUI Goku’s actually did hit a rock and explode, and it happened in the 2022 LF.


Ultra SS Goku needs a Kamehameha with the “keep tapping mechanic” that transitions to an angry Kamehameha.

I've seen enough. Frieza is the far better of the two and easily the number one in the game.

it's really clear they held back on the goku in specific areas. he's very strong but the absence of standard abilities like innate card draw mean you have to actually work to get the best out of him (that's a good thing by the way.) frieza and his death beam mechanic are outright oppressive for the entire match. it takes a lot to wear out a full equip saiyan saga team that invested in raw bulk but frieza can do it without being especially threatened, that's how good he is.

Yep, this game is greedy as all hell.

It can basically afford to be greedy since it's coasting on the Dragonball IP. Any other gacha would've EOS'd probably by the 4th anniversary.

This game should be given up on if you're F2P. You're basically playing to get screwed by whales like Goresh that'll 14 star the best units within a day and will also reroll equips eternally to get the best equipment stats.

Even if you're one of those dudes that got lucky and somehow managed to snag all of the 7th anni units, by the time that Legends Festival rolls around, basically all of these units will be either power creeped or come close to being power creeped, then you'll have to get lucky all over again for the newest units.

I will say though, if you're F2P, the best thing you can do is hold onto 1-2 teams and just only pull for the units that are on these teams. At this point, just lock onto mainly saiyans since they consistently get the best units in the game or Powerful opponents. I think this something that long term fans of this game has mostly done if they're F2P. It can screw you over though if you pick a team like GT that rarely gets new units or buffs.

But understandably, this isn't exactly fun to do.

It's also funny to me how it's a meme that Dokkan is the better game despite it just being a bubble popping game. Like this game is far more interactive and tries to be a full fledge DBZ fighting game for mobile, but it's gacha system is so greedy and stingy that it's hard to deny Dokkan's superiority just due to being more lenient in handing out units.I mean jesus, could you ever see Legends just handing out a free anniversary unit for their own 10th anniversary? LOL

I’m a f2p, but on top of that, I also don’t play PvP, so it’s very very hard for me to like this game. I play for the animations, the story, and the cope that they’ll someday make more game original content.

Legends kind of has me by the balls. I just want a game where I can recreate my favorite attacks with my favorite characters and also enjoy characters that no other game adds, like Botamo or Bojack’s crew. Legends is the only game where I can do this.
Xenoverse is ugly as shit and is never going to do anything interesting with its premise
Kakarot only goes to Z and has its own fair share of disappointments
Sparking Zero turned out to be a let down (that Goku Frieza combo isn’t even a playable attack)
Fighterz is dead and the meat of the roster is DLC locked
Dokkan is just candy crush and PNGs
And Multi is a PVP centered game too, so it’s just going to be more of the same

However, I've given up hope on Legends adding in better PVE and game original content. It's been 7 years now, and I was burned by the time the 4th Anniversary was around and learned my lesson.
Now I only jump on if I see a cool unit or if a decent chunk of time has passed for a lot of Story content to come out
Once this Shallot Raid story stuff wraps up in the next few days or whatever, Legends will once again not be touched by me until around Legends Fest

I do hate how Dokkan allows you to pick up some good units with coins after summoning while Legends just gives you some weak multi powers, tickets that will shaft you, and horrific pity two stars

The ground battles kind of lost their flavor to me. I don't play PVP so I'm not sure what I'm missing out on, but there's only so many characters I can toss into mountains, and so many LFs I can see look better on the ground before I get bored.

To be fair though, anything that wasn't a massive haul of new PVE features, permanent events, and a decent finale leading into a new arc of the story would have eventually bored me. We really need a mobile Dragon Ball game that isn't candy crush and also isn't completely PVP centered.

is it enough? personally I'm not convinced but we'll see. he now has 180% damage guard and 290% damage inflicted innate so that brings his raw stat modifiers in line with the newest ultras, and I expect he will be tankier than expected purely with how tanky ultra frieza is between his raw stats and his 15% hp gain on entry ability.
at the same time I'm not seeing abilities that address some of his bigger flaws like how mediocre his counter gauge's damage is, the fact the enemy wipes out all his ultimate attack buffs the moment he uses it making his ultimate barely better than a regular attack, and the fact he himself was not given buff removal on enemy ult use so he CAN be smashed in the face by enemy ults.

for a defense type that last ability not being in his kit is massive and very bad. but again we'll see. ultra hit was shockingly good even at five stars with his equip. on the other hand hit had timeless utility abilities whereas vegito does not.
nothing I'm seeing has convinced me to go for a fourth copy thus far, I'll instead see if I get lucky on one last round with goku.
