RE: Updating Retroarch and Cores for RG280V (Adam Image)


If I have Adam Image and only want to update the Cores and Retroarch.opk

How do I do it?

I found this source for the Libretro set for this chip at:
https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/dingux/mips32-odbeta/
From this link I can download the latest zip, in it there is the Retroarch.opk and the cores are inside another folder but there are also a bunch of other folders apart from cores.
I would not know which files to replace and where.

How should I update cores in my RG280V?
Must I rename retroarch_rg350_odbeta.opk to other name for RG280V?

Thank you to any RG280V user who has been able to update cores and chip in.
Even RG250 should have the same process right? Anyone will be of great help!

it looks like it might, the default max frequency is the max supported frequency of 2ghz, so any time the CPU gets used it's going to ramp up to max power. however you can change it yourself on the device using dingux commander, the defaults are loaded from /opt/muos/device/config/cpu/ and you can find the valid frequencies in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies

Kioxia cards, which Anbernic has sent me for the OS (TF1), are SUPERB microSD cards, made by Toshiba (Kioxia was an arm of Toshiba, which invented the technology, they have the literal blue prints).

These are pretty reliable, the ROMs card, though... man I have never ordered one.. just OS, but I also get a complementary ROMs card which is a generic black microSD (64gb) which fails at the third week of flashing games into it.

They do have some worthy roms, but in my experience, I got a bunch of corrupted BIOS files, and I could not understand why my games were crashing, because I assumed the BIOS were Kosher. They were not.

Get your BIOS manually from good sources like Archive or CDRomance (sorry, RetroGroomTrans)

I have spent $250 on original hardware for the “true experience”. Even bought a soldering kit and learned how to do it to upgrade the screens.

I ended up ignoring the GBA because the shoulder buttons don’t register, and I ignore the GBC because the D-pad is sharp and leaves welts in my thumb, and that’s an OG D-pad, too, not some Funnyplaying knockoff. Also, in turning on the games for this picture, I found out the batteries in the flashcarts had run dry and that RTC now longer works on them.

Meanwhile, a chinkheld can play those same games with a brighter, bigger screen, no need for AA batteries, and the ability to put the game to sleep at any time.

“Original hardware” might be my biggest regret I’ve had in terms of wasted money, and I bought the Datafrog 2000. They’re basically just expensive paperweights I can look at, but never actually play, like Gunpla.

I legit cannot see any argument in favor of original hardware aside from “I care more about reliving my nostalgia than actually having fun playing videogames.”

I played Mercenaries: POD on it for a couple hours, and honestly, not too bad. A LITTLE bit worse than the RG Cube, since you can’t rest your ring fingers on the back, but the built-in grips and the stick-top setup REALLY help when it comes to analog-centric games.

Battery life is surprisingly good with MuOS on the Trimui Brick, MinUI and Crossmix both raped my battery for whatever reason. These devices typically come in an open box that slides off either vertically or horizontally, not sealed, and the device itself is in a foam packing bag at most. There's nothing really "unopened" about them.

I don't see 3DS emulation happening unless it's a $150ish priced device and they'll likely wait a while first. Currently people want DS emulation especially after the Magic X Zero 40 underwhelmed with the small screen and forced use of Drastic. Keep in mind one of the complaints with the Zero 40 was that MelonDS (and thereby RetroAchievements) weren't usable from a decent amount of people unless you were playing JRPGs at best.

3DS is sort of a future thing to consider once they get a working DS model out. The benefit of this is it's a trial run for getting the basics down of how the setup even functions, ironing out the kinks present in the dual screen setup, and the end goal being a proper 3DS-capable clone.

The bottleneck will be the processor for those systems, which are very demanding.

In a laptop, if you have embedded graphics like Ryzen 5, then you share Ram with Video Ram, and 8GB will be enough for 3DS and maybe vita, WiiU not sure... certainly not beyond 1080p nor beyond 30fps.

If you have a humble discrete card with its own 4+GB of VRAM, then 8GB of system RAM is enough for 1080p no problem for those systems.

The ISO is definitely the issue... now here's the odd part though, the EU game won't corrupt your memory cards but it creates some weird audio bugs when trying to save the game. It'll loop the background ost until you get into the next area. I think that theres just something super funky going on with the coding in Dead to Rights, but it's odd the rom has so many positive reviews yet there's that major save bug. I've finally got an R36S, turns out to be a really good clone to the point I could install the R36S cfw on it, and after tinkering with it I'm left with just a single problem. For some reason the axis on both the control sticks are reversed from their defaults. Remapping them on retroarch was a breeze, standalones and the menu itself was just figuring out which config file to edit, but for the life of me I can't get portmaster games to play ball. Editing gamecontrollerdb doesn't let you specify the plus and minus sides of the sticks, and the .gptk per-game button configs either break on edit or get ignored altogether. Does anyone know how to rebind the stick axis so that controller games and mouse controls properly work?

Is there any way to prevent Knulli from restoring the share partition along with all the systems and the default games on a single SD-card setup?

The gamecontrollerdb.txt which handles input binding has stick bindings for leftx, lefty, rightx, and righty. They each correspond to a full axis (left/right and up/down). You can either bind them to the full axis of the controller, for example "leftx:a2", or to just the left or right movement like "leftx:+a2". What I failed to realize is that this mechanism works both ways, so you can actually do "-leftx:-a2,+leftx:+a2". Then, to reverse the axis, just swap the signs, "-leftx:+a2,+leftx:-a2".

What are you guys playing on your handhelds? I'm still on my Galaxy Tab A8, just finished DuckTales 2 (NES) and it's a blast to play! I've played both DuckTales 1 and DuckTales 2, both the NES and Game Boy versions of each, on both my smartphone and tablet with telescopic controllers and it was a great time, my favorite of 'em being the 2nd NES title.

I'm sad to say, but the DualShock layout is hard to find, most are asymmetrical and the few symmetrical ones follow the Wii U layout with the analog sticks on top. I own a couple of these, the Ipega PG9083s, which is big enough to support a tablet, and the more standard Mocute 060, both are mediocre, but cheap, and they work well enough. It's odd how we're yet to get a premium telescopic controller with Sony's iconic layout, not even the PlayStation Edition Backbone One did it, it was lazy.

Just finished my first run of Emerald Version E4 (playing a rom hack that also adds Johto and Kanto regions). Pretty fun though I still think Gen 1 does the dungeon design best. Will likely keep going through it as I had fun with it.

Yes, from what I remember wasn't too hard. twilight menu worked, played some stuff off the sd card (which seemed a never ever thing at the time) and had the menu that looked like dsi anyway.
Though never really touched it since an r4/modded 3ds consoles in my collection
