I hate Demon Slayer's male protagonist will all my heart. And generally i hate shonen protagonists like him and the one at My Hero Academia that are crybabies because "muh feelings and morals" despite being incredibly strong physically. meanwhile normal human with no superpowers like Satoshi from Pokemon has more balls. and the only tears he sheds are bro tears like when he said farewell to Butterfree. hell, even Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura is less crybaby despite being an elementary school girl.

I really did not like Kimetsu no Yaiba, but Tanjiro never cried because he killed a demon. He cried when humans, his family included, died, and wept for the tragedy of humans becoming monsters and thus needing to be killed; he cries because his sister (stupid plot device that she is) has become something that, if a cure isn't found, he would need to kill with his own hands to take responsibility: every time he kills a demon he sees his sister doing something that cannot be mended (killing a human as a monster) and becoming his very next target.
Now, everything I just said is written like shit and resolved in even worse ways, with total retarded solutions, but you have to be retarded to not understand the moral plight of a literal children's manga.

I don't know your watching or reading habits, so I don't know if you could even like it or prefer one or the other medium.
>anime
Very bad voice acting. I dislike the general cast and the direction really doesn't work with what's on screen.
Most episodes drag on and suffer from being too close to the original source when it comes to pacing; this is especially bad during the first three episodes.
General Ufotable school of having a lot of SFX animation and 3D background with dynamic camera in place of actual 2D drawings interacting with one another; direction and storyboards vary greatly in quality from one episode to another.
>manga
The paneling is barely ok, I find the art style unreadable, especially in later arc with more complex fights making the page cluttered beyond reasonable measure.

Tanjiro is the senpai of Frieren, and Demon Slayers inspired the manga itself. Tanjiro kills the demons for their deeds, but he is humane enough not to hate them for what they are, but for their sin. That's why Demon Slayers undoubtedly has deeper character building and moral code than Frieren, which is simplistic but that can be some kinda appeal to some people, mostly to dehumanizers. He is a rare case of solid, mature and firm character that Shonen manga usually lacks, a true role model figure. That is why the Japanese kids responded that they admire Tanjiro more than their own father.

Yeah, it's a problem of English translator being lazy.
The word in Frieren is 魔族 (mazoku, lit. Evil Tribe), the general term for supernatural creatures of evil nature; they have a 魔王 (maō, lit. Evil King) who's the strongest demon. To give you an idea about how general this word is, Satan in Japanese translations of the Bible is called maō.
The world in Kimetsu no Yaiba is 鬼 (oni), the name for the folklore race of malignant spirits.

I think that if Tanjiro got isekai'd in Frieren's world he would kill every single demon he met with not a tear shed because after the explanation that they're a parasitic race born to imitate, infiltrate and eat humans, and were never humans in the first place.
Frieren, isekai'd in Tanjiro's position, would first try to find a magical cure for the demon condition before killing a human being under a curse (from her understanding)

No he fucking wouldn’t. He’s a shounen protagonist so moral law is in full effect — meaning he can’t and won’t do anything to anyone who isn’t acting comically evil on-panel in-front of him / attacks first. Second of all, translations confuse this but the two races are completely different: KnY demon = “oni”, a type of youkai from Japanese folklore, and Frieren demon = “mazoku”, the enemy race from DragonQuest and the standard enemy race in isekai. Tanjiro would not consider them even remotely the same thing. And if he meets a well-dressed human-looking person out in daylight with horns who says hello to him, he’ll just say he low nervously back not knowing what to make of it. A Mazoku would not detect any mana from him so they would consider him beneath notice and leave him alone, unless they were struck with the desire to kill him for whatever reason, but most of the time they would simply just part ways. Even if you told him that people with horns are dangerous and will kill people, he won’t do anything unless violence is happening in front of him — like it ALWAYS does in KnY for moral cover reasons.

Likewise, Frieren would not hate onis at all, and in fact see them simply as humans suffering under a curse. She would do everything in power subdue them non-lethally while trying to figure out a cure. She absolutely would protect them from being killed by Demon Slayers, because she understands that humans will kill one another she wouldn’t tolerate it happing in-front of her if she can help it.

Frieren has more mature writing than KnY ever has. I'm actually under the impression that the author is some shut-in autist with zero life experiences considering their characters don't act like human beings and are more like concepts than people. It doesn't give off any sense of authorship like early Frieren did because the story beautifully captures her internal struggle as she grapples with the fleeting nature of human life and the permanence of her own existence. While her companions aged and experienced the fullness of life, including love, loss, and the inevitability of death, Frieren remains largely detached from these experiences, having lived centuries. This difference in perception highlights a central theme of the series: the importance of cherishing moments and memories.

As Frieren travels, she encounters various characters who influence her understanding of life and relationships. Through her interactions with humans, she learns to appreciate the beauty in fleeting moments and the significance of emotional connections. Each encounter allows her to evolve from a solitary figure focused on her magical pursuits to someone who begins to value companionship and emotional depth.

The story also employs flashbacks to illustrate key moments in Frieren’s past, revealing her initial interactions with her companions and the development of their bonds, serving as poignant reminders of what has been lost and emphasize the emotional weight of her journey. As Frieren reflects on her memories, readers are reminded that while time may change people, the impact of shared experiences can leave a lasting imprint. Her quest to understand their lives, to grasp the significance of their dreams and aspirations, becomes a way for her to honor their memories. This introspection is beautifully illustrated in the series through scenes that juxtapose her present experiences with her past, emphasizing the contrast between her eternal existence and the ephemeral.

Tanjiro’s bleeding heart is literally only for character flavor, it has no bearing whatsoever on the plot. It’s a virtue-signal “look I’m so empathetic and Good” but with absolutely NO meaning in the events. Tanjiro’s superior goodness is NEVER challenged by a demon who is anything less than comically evil. Even when the mangaka forgets make a demon be comically evil (Akaza), Tanjiro still treats him as if he had murdered his family. In reality it’s just the usual bog standard trashy JP moral law in effect.

They are so brazenly, over-the-top, ridiculously evil because their purpose is to be killed by the protagonists who must have moral cover, and only in a few cases did the mangaka feel like using them for a more interesting story.

Infinitely worse than Demon Slayer
At least Demon Slayer, the demons were once humans and you can have some understanding of how they got to such a state
The Promised Neverland, the demons were a completely different creature than humans and had their own society/views/morals. They were, in every sense of the world, alien to humans.
That bitch suddenly wanting to not kill them was batshit, especially after how many of her friends were killed/eaten. Just stupid.

Nonsense. How many people has he spared in his long life? Way more than any Demon Slayer has demons, which is zero. He doesn’t go around grinding his enemies faces into all the evil he’s done to them, randomly slaughter civilians for no reason, etc. You get a sense of regret and sadness from him more than anything else, him and Akaza are by far the most human-presenting. Koku is dark Kenshin, he even has Kenshin’s iconic pose, and you’re clearly suppose to feel sympathy towards him, especially considering how he fights just like a human. He’s Darth Vader, a villain who must be defeated, but with complexity beyond “comical evil to be hated”.

Bot thread, but Tanjiro is pretty much every bad fake-modest preachy moralfag Japanese protagonists ever. I remember reading what Araki has to say about characters like him from his book "Manga in Theory and Practice"
>WHAT MAKES A GOOD MOTIVATION
>Your characters' motivations have to gain the interest and empathy of your readers. A good motivation is one that makes the reader wonder what will happen to that character, and what that character will do, because then the reader will want to keep reading.
>What you have to realize, in the instance of shonen manga magazines, is that those motivations will always be attuned with the readers natural sense of ethics. The three principles of Shonen Jump are friendship, effort, and victory. Likewise, shonen manga readers will strongly empathize with what they feel is good and right, and will reject that which they feel is unethical.
>Because of this, characters such as Death Note's Light Yagami, who kills again and again—even if the targets of his assassinations are criminals themselves—requires skillful technique for the mangaka to win over the readers.
>On the reverse side, characters who are 100 percent virtuous can come across as fake and unlikable. To avoid this, you need to include in your main characters weaknesses or faults, or more human desires.
>Even if your main character's motives are well-defined, cowardly acts will still repulse your readers. This is mostly because cowardice is in direct opposition to the morality of your audience. Readers will never empathize with a gutless hero who sacrifices innocent bystanders to save his own life. Similarly, if your protagonist is in a tough situation because he blundered into it, your readers will judge the character as a fool and will only react with antipathy.

I’m talking about Tanjiro’s supernatural sense of smell. If he can smell how many people a demon has killed, he should be able to smell the same on humans. There should be plenty of humans who have killed just as much if not more than the younger demons have managed, yet Tanjiro never once meets these people. He never once meets anyone in the Demon Slayers corps who have the smell of death on them either. It’s a cartoon JP moral law manga, nothing more

That’s literally false not only narratively and plot-wise as well. Nezoku, Tamayo and her demon all exist. If demons really were just unreasoning monsters who can’t even understand sympathy then Tanjiro wouldn’t constantly get into moral arguments with them. A mazuko wouldn’t comprehend what Tanjiro is even talking about. Like if he ranted at one of the Frieren mazoku about what life means to them, murdering random bystanders, treating people cruelly, etc, they wouldn’t get mad they’d just have questions marks going off over their heads and frankly not understand what this human was mad about. Mazoku don’t even have the concept of parents. Oni, however, have the full range of human feelings available to them, they just act comically evil at all times. Why eat humans? >>281645171
Again, like I said, you're a dumbass third worlder (like the vast majority of the Latinx who makes up Demon Slayer's fanbase) who thinks like a retarded Japanese and assumes America operates the same way Japan does. History doesn't back you up. All anime US releases are frontloaded. Huge Day 1, massive weekend, and then a steep drop, especially for niche titles. Every big anime opening drops 60-70% in Week 2, exactly like Mugen Train, JJK 0, DBS Broly, etc. No reason to expect Infinity Castle will break that pattern.

Also, Asian currencies like JPY, KRW, TWD, HKD and VND are extremely weak against the USD. That makes even strong local box office numbers shrink hard in international comparison. $1 USD = 150+ Yen, $1 = 1,300+ Won, ₹20M INR = $240K USD. So unless it's China-sized, it doesn't move the needle much. Slam Dunk pulled $90M in China alone which is more than every SEA + Taiwan + South Korea + Hong Kong combined. If Infinity Castle had China, it could surge higher. No China = $50M-90M gone. There's no spinning that.

LATAM? Good for fan enthusiasm, bad for actual box office impact unless you're Dragon Ball. Europe? Mostly minor, France is the only exception where anime performs well due to cultural and distribution support.

And LOL @ this dumbass nigger thinking "NFL won't affect anime box office!" Peak delusion. NFL dominates weekends, especially in September. Nost Americans would rather watch their team fumble than sit through a 2h35m Japanese dub subtitled anime of some Japanese brat swinging his sword, screaming and crying.

Shut the hell up. If you have to redraw your map of the world to make your claim work, your argument is trash. You can't dismiss China as a bonus when it's historically 30%+ of big anime global box office.
>korea is pulling amazing numbers from preorders alone.
900K tickets sold for ₩12K-₩14K per ticket = about ₩11B-₩12.6B = $8.5M–$9.5M USD. A $20M Opening Weekend in Korea is extremely good. But that's not Endgame level. It's very strong for an import. Still, $20M in Korea =/= $300M globally.

Second, Korean anime runs don't leg out, and even a dominant opener stalls fast due to screen competition. That's a realistic ceiling unless some Black Swan event occurs. And again, USD conversion crushes potential.
>>281646386
>USA + Canada + EU + LATAM = easy 100M
You really SUCK ass at math, don't you, mutt?

It launches in September, where NFL Saturday and Sundays suck up attention. Monday Night Football is also a thing, as is Thursday Night Football. So that means a 4-day streak of football from Thursday to Monday. It's also competing with The Conjuring that has the novelty of being a finale unlike Infinity Castle and Him, a football horror movie that drops in football season directed by Jordan Peele and America loves Jordan Peele and they also love football.

Prediction: $25M-$30M-ish if hyped hard enough. Anime is historically frontloaded in the US, and this is releasing in a limited run, with a 2h35m runtime, meaning it won't last for long in theaters AND it'll get fewer screenings and even still, the 2h35m runtime will still cut its screenings to 3-4/day.

So we've gone from "might get 250" to "300 is the ceiling" to "400 is coming" in like two weeks. You're moving goalposts like it's an Olympic sport. I'd be clear with your retarded third world ass since you DIDN'T understand it the first time. Right now, Infinity Castle has earned $180M in Japan and its daily earnings has slowed down since Obon ended and took a nosedive.
>Aug 16 (final day of Obon): ¥658M
>Aug 17: ¥580M
>Aug 18: ¥322M
>Aug 19: ¥226M
>Aug 20: ¥293M
>Aug 21: ¥213M
That's not a path to $200M by the end of August, that's a sign of decline, it went from ¥658M/day to ¥213M which is a 66% drop. Even from August 18 (¥322M) to August 19 (¥226M) is a 30% drop in a single day. Holiday boosts (Marine Day and Obon) carried its ass from hell to back.
>Japan: $181M
>Taiwan: $13M
>Korea: circa $9.5M
>SEA + Taiwan + HK: $29M
>China: Dead on Arrival
Total; $280M tops. If we now add South Korea ($9.5M) to the total, it'd be $219.65 tops. And if we add the US/Canada ($25M-$30M) and Europe/LATAM ($15M-$20M) then it would be around $250M or $260M, in other words, Film Red numbers but slightly above. So no, this is not a "400 million run" unless a UFO drops money onto Toho's lap. There's no path to $400M without a China release, a surprise US mainstream crossover or a massive awards-season leg-up, which is laughable.

Like I said yesterday, you're a stupid ass third world Spic who thinks like a Japanese fanboy, a South American, an Asian from whatever shithole country you come from and assumes America's model functions like Japan's. Demon Slayer fans might not give a shit about the NFL, but theaters DO give a shit. It's not about WHO watches what. It’s about WHO fills more seats, WHICH films get more showtimes and WHICH movies make more revenue per screen.

The Conjuring is a mainstream horror franchise that appeals to teens, adults, and couples, not just anime nerds. It has mass market draw. The NFL draws 20-25 million people EVERY Sunday. That's eyeballs not watching anime. Doesn't matter if Demon Slayer nerds aren't watching football, theaters want to sell tickets, and when half the country is glued to a screen at home, weekend walk-ins drop hard and runtime matters. Again, 2h35m means fewer showtimes, slower theater turnover and LESS revenue per screen. Theaters will favor shorter, faster-selling movies with broader appeal, period. You're in the American market now, not Japan. Act like it.
>it's an event.
You know what else was an "event", you piece of shit? Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and fell off fast in the US. One Piece Film Red, loud fandom, then gone. Even Mugen Train had a huge open, then vanished in Week 2. So did Broly for that matter. These were all "events" too, for ANIME FANS. But event status inside a fandom =/= long box office run.
>it's going to fucking end august with that goal borderline accomplished
Yep. And that's par for the course with a franchise that has a strong core market in its home country. Japan has few screens (around 3,000+ only), low competition for anime, and long theatrical legs. Theaters let anime stay for weeks and weeks if the film keeps selling.

US theaters? By comparison, they have 40,000+ screens and give you 7-10 days, then you're replaced by the next Blumhouse flick unless you're Top Gun: Maverick or Barbie.

No thought occurs, and there's not even a mind behind a volcano erupting or a landslide obliterating a village. Demons can LITERALLY be spoken with. >On the reverse side, characters who are 100 percent virtuous can come across as fake and unlikable.
Araki is right and I feel like it captures what makes Tanjiro so infuriating to some viewers: he's so clean, so perfectly manufactured, that he stops being a character and starts being a walking TED talk on kindness. He doesn't have flaws, he has obstacles. And even those are designed to make him look better. Araki's entire quote lays out a clear checklist for compelling character motivation.
>The motivation should trigger curiosity.
Which DS fails at. Tanjiro's motivation (save sister, kill demons) is delivered in chapter 1 and never evolves. There's no dramatic tension in why he acts, only how much he cries doing it.
>Readers empathize with morally complex characters when written skillfully.
True. Light Yagami is morally abhorrent but electrifying to watch while Tanjiro is morally pure but predictable to a fault.
>100% virtue doesn't mean likability.
Also true. Tanjiro fails this HARD. Even his anger is sanitized, like a toddler being mad because his teddy bear fell off the bed. There's no internal friction. No selfish moment. Nothing that feels human.
>Include weaknesses or human desires.
Which DS also fails at. Tanjiro doesn't have those. His wants = justice, love, peace, and to protect people. Which I don't count as a character, that's just a wish list on a kindergarten classroom wall.
>Don’t make your character gutless or stupid.
Tanjiro is at least brave. But again, the story is built so he never really pays for his failures. The worst that happens is he gets a cool scar upgrade and more sympathy.

The author is a coward who played it safe and is too afraid to give Tanjiro flaws, too afraid to actuaoly challenge his morals, too afraid to explore real ambiguity and too afraid to let the story punch the reader in the gut without a moral safety net.

You’re asking me to "put a number on it" while ignoring every number I've already given and every receipt I've already linked. Infinity Castle crossed ¥20B during the Obon lead-in, not before it. You clearly don't understand how Obon actually affects Japanese cinema trends, and you're throwing around phrases like "objectively wrong" while you misrepresent both calendars and numbers. Aug 9 wasn't an official red calendar public holiday, but this is Japan and Obon is not one day. It's a cultural week-long event. And Friday, Aug 9, was the start of the surge. Why? Because MANY offices and schools close early or entirely, mass travel begins as well as the Obon rush and it's the Friday launching the Obon weekend. Box office patterns reflect it clearly across multiple films, not just Demon Slayer. This is a country where cultural timing trumps technical holiday status. You're arguing like a dumbass Westerner looking at Japanese market behavior like it's Kansas.

Box office projections aren't static, dickhead. They shift based on real-time data, release timing, market performance, and competition. When I said $200-220M, that was based on then-current trends, with Japan barely crossing ¥20B (thanks to Obon btw) and SEA just starting to roll out. I also said it could do $250M if the legs were strong. And guess what? It still hasn't passed $300M.

Infinity Castle benefited from two holiday boosts (Marine Day and Obon), and outside of Japan, its earnings come from smaller currencies meaning global USD totals don't scale as much as they appear. If you think I was 'wrong' for adjusting my projection with better data like any sane person would, then you're not arguing in good faith. You're just flailing around and coping.

You keep obsessing over literal yen denominations while ignoring the actual pacing. I used Box Office Mojo's 2020 archived figures as context for USD-JOY estimates. On Oct 21, 2020, BOM reported $223M at Day 31. Using 2020's exchange rate (~¥135), that's ¥30B. I even cited the exact archive. It's not about retro-conversion using 2025 rates. It's about WHAT the industry reported at the time. Your whole argument hinges on pretending I used a 2025 rate retroactively, which is just false. If anything, I used 2020's rate for a 2020 box office report. You’re trying to 'gotcha' me based on technicalities when the actual pacing still supports my claim: Infinity Castle is still behind Mugen Train’s pace even with Obon boosts, yen devaluation, and no real competition in Japan right now.

And, yes, I predicted $200-220M early. That was based on pre-Obon trends. Then Obon and Marine Day inflated numbers. Like any reasonable person, I updated my outlook based on evolving data. That’s not "f-loundering", that's how tracking works you dumbass nigger. You'd know that if you weren't trying to play Reddit lawyer with outdated receipts and personal projections.

The funny part? You're acting smug when the movie hasn't even hit $300M yet and won't touch $500M without China. Mugen Train did that without the US being huge. You should calm down before claiming victory mid-race.

So let me get this straight, you think "being wrong" is adjusting a projection based on real-time performance, like literally every box office analyst on the planet does? Yes, motherfucker. I initially said $200'220M. That was based on pre-Obon pacing, weak currency conversions, limited international rollout, and standard anime drop-off trends. Then the movie got two holiday boosts and then some extra in SEA. So I updated. That's called analysis, not "m-moving goalposts!" It's only a problem if you're trying to pin people to week-old quotes like you're running a tabloid instead of a grown-up discussion.

Also, yes. I said it would need China to hit $300M, of which it won't release. So far, Infinity Castle has earned
>Japan
$181M
>Taiwan
$13M
>Hong Kong
$3.55M
>Thailand
$3.2M
>Indonesia
$3.6M
>Malaysia
$3.3M
>Vietnam
$2.5M
Total: $210M. Asuming South Korea rakes in $9M for OW, that's $219M. Still far away from $300M and close in home to what I predicted, it'll do Film Red numbers (slightly better). And unlike you, I actually factor in trends, not just hype tweets and presale fanboy fuel.

You can keep quoting archives like they're courtroom exhibits, nigger. I'll keep tracking actual data. And when this thing crashes out by mid-September, you'll be the one coping with your "$500M worldwide no China" delusion.

You're clinging to a literal exchange number when the actual point was a historical pace comparison based on reported box office figures at the time.

Box Office Mojo had $223M by Day 31, which, using the 2020 exchange rate of ¥135/USD at the time, lined up with a rough ¥30B. That wasn't some magical "Day 24" milestone I invented. It was a shorthand to say: Infinity Castle is trailing Mugen Train's trajectory even WITH inflation, favorable scheduling, and holiday boosts. And guess what, motherfucker? BOM's archived data backs that. Wayback Machine backs that. You're just spinning semantics trying to score points from your little gay-ass Discord friends because you lost the broader narrative.

International total is $44M according to Pinkvilla, which includes South Korea's projected $20M before the first showtime has even rolled (it's currently 7 AM in South Korea). That means actual foreign earnings outsidre of Japan are $29M, not $44M. The rest is just modeled projection. Add Japan's $181M, and we're at ~$210M confirmed. That's in line with my earlier projection of $200z220M when accounting for what’s actually out.

I don't hate it because it's popular. I hate it because it's a badly written, shitty drawn manga that is a bad product that reads more like a storyboard for an anime studio to pick up than a product than can stand on its own merits. Which is why Torishima rightly called it out for not being as good as underages, fat ugly women and ESLs (like yourself) that makes up Demon Slayer's fanbase think it is. I like Dragon Ball, it's far more popular than Demon Slayer will ever be and the original manga is also a good product on its own merits. I don't give a fuck about Japan. Lmao. They will continue to be a country of extraordinary terrible taste buds who'll elevate the most shoddily written, badly drawn slop. Japan rejected Shogun, the best jidaigeki in decades, because it wasn't "theirs." Hiroyuki Sanada, the finest Japanese actor of his generation, had to leave his own country to get serious roles because Johnny's shilled Takuya Kimura from hell to back that he ruled the Japanese film industry. Japanese filmmakers like Hirokazu Kore-eda has to make more films abroad to get the support he needs because anime has such a stranglehold on the Japanese film industry. Japan gave Suda51 a hard time that his studio was about to shut down from bankruptcy before the West saved him.

Demons in KnY are humans who were infected and lost their mind. Only 3 cases of demons mantaining a semblance of humanity exist, and in the case of his sister, she was VERY close to becoming a raging animal more than once.
All of them used to have normal lives before, some of them straight up go to heaven after death because if they only committed their crimes after being turned, they cannot be held responsible for their actions.
If they could be healed easily, it would be worth trying to save them all

Frieren demons are predators. They have no relation to humans beyond humans being their prey. They are born evil and will die evil, everything they do is for a nefarious goal. They feign being reasonable or defensless merely for survival, but they are an invasive dangerous species that cannot be redeemed.

So of course, the two protagonists treat them differently.

Honestly even with all the breathing magic one of the main principles is that the demon slayers still can barely compete with demons. The only UM who gets outright soloed is UM5 (Kaigaku doesn't count) and the fight against Gyokko and Hantengu is the only UM fight without major career-ending injuries or multiple outright deaths. Every fight is a slugfest where multiple demon slayers and hashira team up on one or two major demons.

This is not how moral cover works. For a protagonist to fight with an enemy, the antagonist has to first do something to "deserve" it on-panel in the same scene. That’s why Frieren let herself be tackled and thrown in jail even though she could have wiped out those three demons on the spot — they were being peaceful at that moment because they were on a diplomatic mission, therefore Frieren had no choice but to wait for them to attack first. In a similar situation it would be NO different with Tanjiro, just like it was no different with Nezuko during her trial. The Hashira simply could NOT kill her until she did something. That’s why whenever a demon appears in KnY they are either slaughtering innocent people in fountains of blood comicbook villain style or they are attacking the protagonists.

NTA but you're genuinely a monster level retard posting all this shit about BO when you clearly know nothing about film as a market. The ONLY movie coming out near Kimetsu is the Conjuring 4, a franchise that's on shaky ground due to multiple underperformances and bad films prior to it.
Horror also is, in general, a dangerous genre to play around with: I have no clue where you're pulling the 'mainstream' appeal of horror from, because it's an extremely niche genre that casual audiences don't give an iota of a fuck about.
Here's the reality you don't seem to want to hear: there is, quite literally, NOTHING coming out in September. Conjuring is the only relevant film, I cannot believe you're trying to larp that anything possibly competes with Kimetsu in September. Half of the releases in that month are rereleases of movies from 20 fucking years ago.
And before you call me a fanboy, I think KnY is a middling shonen at best largely carried by the poor offerings in SJ and on TV at the time.

Literally reminds me of a good argument from Trigun where Vash and Knives (Seriously why the fuck did they name the kid Knives and NOT expect him to be fucked up?) are with Rem and a butterfly gets caught in a spiders web. Vash is worried for the Butterfly and Knives just kills the spider but Vash wanted both of them to live. Knives knew that was just naive thinking since it would essentially mean starving the spider to death which is far worse than simply killing it instantly and that saving only the butterfly and turning a blind eye to any other bug the spider catches is just hypocrisy.

Muzan's natural disaster comparison doesn't apply since a natural disaster doesn't choose it's victims and also has no control over it's action.

He would have a much better argument if he said "The beef used to make your lunch, did that cow not have children who loved her? If the cow in the field knew what you intended for it's children, would they not want you dead? We at least allow for your autonomy and don't keep you caged for our benefit and we even go out of our way to target undesirables. Do YOU go out of your way to only eat the undesirable animals? We can only eat humans and nothing else, do we deserve to die because it happens to be you we prey upon and not a weaker more defenseless animal?"

Imagine calling horror 'niche' and then defending anime movies as if they’re mainstream in the US market. I'd run through actual industry facts since you're clearly LARPing as a market analyst. Horror is NOT niche, you dumbass. It's one of the most reliable, high-ROI genres in the US box office. Blumhouse and The Conjuring have raked in billions by making low-cost, high-reward films. Audiences show up because horror sells tickets, even bad ones. 'Niche' doesn't do $40M openings on shaky legs.

Infinity Castle opens Sep 12 in the US. That's one week after The Conjuring: Last Rites (Sep 5), which is projected to make $35-40M OW. If it gets solid WOM, it'll hold screens and dominate horror demand for weeks, especially leading into Halloween season (October). The week after Infinity Castle opens, it gets hit by:
>Him
A Jordan Peele-produced football horror on Sept 19, 1h36m runtime = high showtimes, genre synergy with NFL season, and domestic appeal (America loves Jordan Peele).
>A Big Bold Beautiful Journey
Also Sept 19, with Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, a star-studded adult drama with prestige film potential and strong legs.
>One Battle After Another
Sep 26, featuring DiCaprio. Runtime be damned, this is prestige Oscar bait and it will absolutely eat IMAX and premium screen space, not some anime film catered to nerds. And you say nothing’s coming out in September? Lmfao. That's a stacked lineup, and most of it is shorter, broader, and higher-priority than some 2h35m anime film.

US theaters don't function like Japan. They don't coddle anime for weeks. Unless your name is Miyazaki, you get 7-10 days to prove your worth or you're out. Infinity Castle will be frontloaded, like every anime movie ever in history: Mugen Train, JJK0, Broly, Film Red, take your pick. Big OW, fast drop. Theaters don't give a fuck about Tanjiro's tears. Nope. Frontloaded = weak legs. No matter how big the Opening, if it doesn't hold, it collapses hard by Week 2. The US is a completely different beast from Japan or SEA. We've seen this cycle before: huge anime OW, then cut by 60-70% by Week 2. Box office success isn’t just about numbers, it's about staying power. I know some people will jump on me for saying the anime has good visuals at all, but for the quality of the material? Yeah, it fucking does. And for no particular reason.

Yup, and I've literally already acknowledged that my earlier assumptions about Japan were incorrect because I expected them to follow US market logic. They don't. Japan has 3,000+ screens, slower turnover, and gives films longer legs, especially anime. That's a market with breathing room.

The US, by contrast, has 40,000+ screens, a brutal weekly cycle, and zero patience for slow-burners unless you’re Christopher Nolan or James Cameron. Anime movies in America are not leggy, they are entirely fan-driven, frontloaded, and weekend-heavy. That's not even an insult, that's a well-documented pattern.

So no, I'm not 'just hating Kimetsu' (even though I dislikenir). I'm describing how theater economics work.
>Runtime affects showtimes
>NFL kills casual foot traffic on weekends
>September is stacked with mid-budget films with broader appeal and faster turnover
If you’re still pretending the US behaves like Japan or that Kimetsu is immune to market gravity, you're not making an argument, you're just fanboying like every anime nerd. I don't mind being wrong and correcting myself. You, on the other hand, seem allergic to nuance and box office reality.

Isn't breathing their way of manually activating hysterical strength? (Drawing out 100% of a muscles power) It was never magic and the whole point of the flashy breathing effects was to make each slayer more visually unique. If you exclude characters with unique weapons (Shinobu, Gyomei, Mitsuri, etc) or abilities (Genya), basic demon slayers who just use a normal katana (Tanjiro, Rengoku, Giyuu, Sanemi, etc) are all borderline identical. The breathing effects just help better sell how each slayer has their own unique fighting style.

Practically speaking, the demons are still the ones with a near monopoly on genuine "magic" in the story. The demon slayers are more comparable to vampire hunters, needing to use special equipment like nichirin (Silver) or wisteria (Garlic) to kill demons (Vampires). Not saying that breathing is realistic, but it's just amplifying natural human abilities instead of defying logic like demon blood arts do. Obviously that results in some ridiculous physical feats impossible for a human IRL, but that's just standard shonen power scaling taking "peak human" to ridiculous heights. Look at MHA and all the characters who pull insane physical feats without physical enhancement quirks.

Because muzan’s cells require human blood to completely take over.
Nezuko succeded starving herself , so she growth immune to his mind control to a huge degree. The cells inside her body never took control of her mind and she slowly developed resistence in the same way Tamayo did.
This is the reason why everyone tried to avoid DemonJiro to drink blood, it is confirmed that it is the point of not return .

Blood fuels the cells , the cells take over mind and body making the demon stronger but also increasing their thirst, the demon feeds more blood and rare blood = a loop where the demons became stronger while losing his/her mind the further he/she progress , with the Uppermoons, aka the demons which body got corrupted the most, barely being human anymore

Doma is pretty much the same guy when he was a human and a demon, same with Kokushibo, unless you want to believe he was an unreliable narrator and actually loved his brother the whole time.

>>281662974
Again, just because some were scumbag or bad people even before turning into demons, doesn’t means they do not regain their humanity and human emotions like fears.
The sole one who could’ve managed to do that since more similar to Muzan would’ve been Douma, but he was too weakened by the poison (and very lazy) to be able to regenerate fully. And still even that detatchment was just cope and being lazy , so humans emotions altough negative ones.
Muzan instead was so deep into his ass to be detatched by every human feeling beside egocentrism and fear for his own death to the point he compared himself to a force of nature.

Stuff like the transparent world is just being aware of how muscles work + basic martial arts philosophy about chakra (to see without eyes and all that shit) The only one that is kinda out there is the red blades but that's is still "justified" as the metal getting hot or whatever. If anything Kimetsu makes the least use of "magic" compared to other shonen.

Lower moons - Hard as nails, dies sometimes

There is the thing with Tanjiro.
The demons he was fighting all used to be humans.
Most turned out to be assholes with zero redeeming qualities, some were in fact forced into this whole people eating thing and simply did it out of fear of Muzan killing them in horrible, horrible ways.

Also Tanjiro knows that while some of them are actually tragic and he actually sympathizes with them, he still kills them due to what they do and what will they do when not put down. The only demons he didn't kill was the Doc Lady and her assistant/2nd husband (both whom managed to free themselves of Muzan's grasp).

>>281644135
To be fair, said merciful kill is very swift and as painless as possible.

>>281658807
In other words Muzan wanted to sound like he's Godzilla.
Thing is Godzilla doesn't give a fuck and indeed is a living natural disaster since he appears at random and simply wrecks everything in his path before going back home.

Muzan on the other hand chooses his victims and wants to eat human flesh while Big G doesn't even give a fuck about humans.

And if we go further then Godzilla actually has very good reasons to hate humans (the whole nuke testing that mutated him into what he is + the draft where there were more G's like himself and that he was the only one strong to survive the nuke testing) and that if he got actually serious like in Godzilla Earth (as shitty as it was, that Godzilla went full overkill on humans probably due to the death of Anguirus and Rodan who in later live-actions became his buddies), then he'd not stop until Earth was purged of humanity.

Muzan has nothing. No tragic backstory, no redeeming qualities, no nothing. Not to mention he does all this shit for shits and giggles. Also wants to devour Nezuko when he finds out she gained immunity to sunlight while still a demon.
