Getting famous and then losing it all barrly got a mention beyond the panel of her smilling. You'd think a loner becoming a Devil Hunter/Published Writer beloved by her peers and then going back into a pariah woild be worth showing a light on.

Yoru fell out of love for Denji in a single chapter where Nukes were asspulled back. Asa and Denji will be in conflict for the finale of the story it's guaranteed, so grab your copium and accept the writing on the wall so Fujimoto can drive the story the way he wants it. -Haruka notes during Prison Arc that a bunch of wars have broken out yet the media are refusing to report on it
-Yoru steals Tank Devil from the U.S. and Gun Devil parts from USSR (which may have led to both parties blaming each other)
So yeah, not exactly the best set-up, but there was something. It's just sprinkled throughout 200+ chapters so most people forgot about all that stuff already.

Devilman is one of the few Japanese series that cite genuine, actual occultist demonology works like the Key of Solomon (from what I read in Grimoire, one of Nagai's recent reboots) absolutely amazing. Pretty much every story with a dynamic like Yoru's and Asa's, the antagonist ultimately gets separated into a unique body or form. But that hasn't been the case yet with Asa and Yoru.
In order for Yoru to be a major antagonist, she obviously needs to commit atrocities which make her hateable enough to the readers. But Asa allowing her to do that makes her look like a total pushover.
I feel like Fuji took on a challenge that's extremely difficult to pull off without putting all of the focus on those two individuals. And somewhere along the way he just realized that he's going to need to start taking shortcuts on Asa/Yoru so that he can move on with the rest of the story he wants to tell.

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Freud's psychoanalytic theories most of the jokes will go over a typical reader's head.
