Y'know, the black death, Yersinia pestis, had a 90% mortality rate, but it was discovered that when buboes first appear, if they are lanced and drained immediately then the wound cauterized with a red hot piece of metal the mortality rate dropped to about 50%. These days the mortality rate is only about 1% if treatment is sought immediately.

no pigs!
Anonymous No.939443265 >>939444593
Further, Y.pestis had three mass putbreaks in human history, the first being The Plague of Justinian, named after the Emperor of Roman Byzantium Justian I who contracted and recovered from the plague, the second and most famous being The Black Death, and the third being called The Third Plague Pandemic. The Third Plague Pandemic didn't end until 1960.

No pigs? Then how are you going to eat bacon? And pork chops? And pork tenderloin? And baby back ribs? And ham? And any number of sausages?

I marinated some pork chops in white wine, dijon mustard, salt, horseradish, black and cayennepepper, garlic, and shallots then baked them in the oven. I put that on a bed of cabbage I fried with bacon, black pepper, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, onion, shallo, garlic, and a bit of soy sauce. Then over top of that I put a creamy dijon gravy. It was very very good. Definitely one I will write down.

Ye that stuff wouldn't last long with me around, looks and sounds damn tasty. I always liked cabbage but I wish they'd come in like half the size.
I don't think I ever had baked pork chops, is it very different than fried?

Not so different, just a different way of cooking which means you have to adjust your times and temperatures. I decided on the fried cabbage for the exact same reason. The last meal I made was miso ramen with pork, ramen eggs, and fresh cabbage, shredded carrots, green onions, and pickled daikon and cabbage. I wasn't going to eat a whole head of cabbage on that one meal so I decided I would fry it, which naturally lead me to making pork chops, though chicken would also have done nicely with it.

I gotta get myself a cookboy ahem.
Had this huge 1.5 gallon pot I used to make cabbage soup in, lasted for days and would just taste better every day until I just couldn't eat it anymore.
1.5 gallons and I still had to sautee the cabbage in two batches because there wasn't any space to stir or anything.
Dood I didnt have chicken in MONTHS, fuck it I'm gonna treat myself to a rotisserie borb later.

Oh, so you're a fan of sausages?

>>939445209
A cookboy? I make a couple of different soups and have two large pots and two Dutch ovens at my disposal as well as a crock pot. Cabbage is very nice. Retains its crunch pretty well.

Gee, TWO dutch ovens? I also like it when it's leafy slobberish but the stalky parts were always a favorite.

You should learn to cook. It is a vital skill to have and opens up all new possibilities. In my relationships I have always done the cooking myself. Egg plant I cannot say I have ever actually had before, though I have cooked it for a vegetarian friend of mine. Made her a batch of my Japanese curry, but did egg plant and red bell peppers instead of beef. She quite liked it, though she gave me permission to make it as spicy as I eat my curry thinking she could play at my level. She could not. That was her only complaint, and she acknowledged it was her mistake for underestimating my heat tolerance.

One improvement at a time!
You might not like the consistency but it tastes great, sliced and grilled with some olive oil, salt and pepper. Many ways.
Ye high heat is not my thing in food, at some point I can't taste the food anymore and just feel heat. It's a matter of exposure and training I guess.
