This here was the ONLY time Loona has officially done the Sex Eyes. It's only on for like two frames but it's there. I felt bad for both the man and Loona. Neither of them deserved how this episode turned out. Loona deserved to find some acceptance. The man didn't deserve to be genuinely scared of demons and because in the Hellaverse being GOOD is how you end up in Hell he's now doomed to being sent to Hell. Ember and Sir Pentious were not evil while alive and they still got sent to Hell.

The only character I didn't feel bad for in this episode is Blitzo. That’s a difficult question to answer, since you can 100% have people who’ve watched the show far more than I have still end up making characters feel completely unlike how they are portrayed are the original media. If anything, I can offer some points.
1. Characters shouldn’t act on how you NEED them to act in order for certain story beats to happen, but your story beats should be centered around how characters would act in different situations. For chapter 5, I had to redo almost half of the entire chapter when I first typed it up because I realized Anon was sidelined in favor of Loona attempting to explain and argue with Blitz about his presence, and Stolas came in at the same time with Blitz, so that just gave Anon less time to talk. I instead just had Loona be done with everyone, since I know she’s easily irritated by antics, and that gave me the opportunity to have Blitz and Anon interact. In the original draft of the chapter, there wasn’t going to be a fight. When I thought about it, yeah. Anon and Blitzo would try and beat the shit out of each other, but I knew that Blitzo would win in the end because even though Anon is a sinner, Blitzo is an assassin.
2. I feel like it’s more important to keep characters consistent. That’s not just going for how they’re portrayed in the show, but how they are in the fic. First draft of Ch. 2 had Loona actually hitting it off with Anon after the Mississippi Queen chugging, but feedback and my own instinct told me that was too fast for someone like Loona.
Speaking of consistency, it’s another reason why I hated this recent short. Loona has been shown to handle firearms extraordinarily well with the DHORK fight, but here, she completely fumbles shooting Mr. Wiggles twice, and somehow only thought to have two rounds in her handgun’s magazine.

3. Most important, in my opinion, is to have people who are well versed in the media you write check your work. Having dissenting opinions can drastically improve the quality of what you produce. Have a devil’s advocate, not a yes-man. But at the same time, terminal contrarians aren’t going to help you much.
4. I take it upon myself to never believe I am better than the original media, no matter how much I disagree with writing choices. Stay forever humble. You can absolutely disagree with certain criticisms, but only when you go through your work, find what they’re talking about, and actually think before coming to a conclusion.
They can also catch grammatical mistakes you might have missed.
I’ve been writing on and off for roughly 12-13 years for various fandoms. We all start from somewhere, and sometimes people are more naturally inclined to improve fast with time and dedication. Perhaps you are one of those people. You’ll never know unless you try.

Sorry, I went on a tangent. Character voice… honestly, just try and hammer in the voices in the show into your head. Try and pick up on little things when they speak. Like Loona’s groans, “ugh”s, and how she instantly raises her voice on a dime whenever she’s irritated.
For long term planning, it can always help to just make a summary of plot beats you want to follow. “A happens, so then B happens next, which leads to C, and finally we end with D happening”. Then again, sometimes you get better ideas as you start writing. That’s what happens a lot in my case, so you have to judge whether it can still fit in with your plan.
I’ll be honest, I don’t have a concrete plan for HILTLH(H), but as I write, I get new ideas. When I get new ideas, I try to make a summary of an endpoint that can lead off of them.

About this detail. During the fantasy Blitzo imagined that Octavia is chilling with him. Except Octavia has no reason to ever forgive Blitzo. Stolas may have initiated the cheating but in the end Blitzo is clearly a successful homewrecker and he never hid his actions from Stella. I'm going to be honest and say that even if helluva has never made me too emotional it has made me laugh on almost every episode.
